I just bought a basically rust free 1979 camaro, it had been sitting 14 years in a underground garage with a full tank of gas, i put in a battery, pumped up the flat tires, cranked it for 5 seconds and she fired right up and i drove her home 50miles, unreal how robust they are

Nice video and congrats on getting it running. The kick down and other part of the throttle for the carb were to close to the intake because you are missing the EGR plate that goes between the carb and intake. I replaced my quadrajet with an edelbrock and had to get after market brackets to mount to the intake for the kickdown and throttle to mount to. If you're going to keep it stock i have all the stock stuff from mine still but the carb needs rebuilt.

Poor ol car. Floors and lower panels all around a hood and a windshied. Interior smoked. Engine needs rebuild or replace. Probably replace with something that isnt 170 hp 301. That is quite the project. Best of luck to you. I will enjoy watching.

I’d love to come see it and maybe do a video on it. Always cool to see them get back on the road. It’s tough because I am not yet able to buy everything I mess with. It’s a pretty solid car for what it is and how long it’s been sitting.

You need the spacer under the carb. Can't believe you you chopped the linkage of that carb all 301's have a spacer under the carb

Car probably has under 200k on it, that gauge looks like it rolled over mine did the same thing at a little over 84k original miles. It rolled over to 25 thousand and change

That car is in pretty rough shape you have your work cut out . Too bad it's not a TA it might be worth the effort

It’s not near as bad as most of the cars here in the Midwest.

Any F body is worth the effort regardless of what it is in my opinion. I mean hey they haven't made them in 21 years.

Aluminum factory spacer should be under carburetor
