In regards to the situation with TikTok removing videos: As an active TikTok creator I can tell you that videos sometimes get removed for total nonsense. Mass reports of something can cause a video to get automatically removed, or even including keywords in a video can cause it to get taken down and/or your account to get "shadowbanned" where all of your new videos are only shown to followers for a period of time. These shadowbans can last weeks, months, or even be permanent depending on the type of content you post and how regularly you post, and it's incredibly common to get shadowbanned for even posting a joke comment on something, even if the comment is not harmful in the slightest and only includes a keyword that the ban system is looking for at that particular moment. (This has happened to me several times). As for their reports system, 2 hours is a gross underestimation of how long it takes for someone to review a report. Sometimes it can take upwards of a week, with some reports sitting in limbo for up to a month before something is done. Sure, most reports are actioned in less than 24 hours, and it does actually seem to get placed in front of a real person when you report something, but there are cases where downright disturbing content like videos containing graphic injury/death are just left up on the platform for weeks on end, still getting placed in the feeds of millions, only for the report to get denied. Sometimes report outcomes are just downright falsified. There have been several sounds on TikTok where the audio is just a racial slur clearly repeated over and over again for a minute straight that have been reported and marked as "removed", but then you scroll down in your feed and find 3 videos in a row using the same audio that was previously noted as banned. They are lying to our faces, and I'm sure their report "statistics" are falsified to save face.
Censorship on conspiracy theories is ridiculous. The term "misinformation" will be the downfall of many things. People freely give away rights because of entertainment. It's a shame that humans can't take responsibility and must blame "misinformation". It is your own responsibility to find the truth and not trust "influencers". It's weird people even make a fuss about something like this. Of course they (TikTok) have all the right to ban orr not ban any material they think is against *their* company policies. If a user doesn't like their decisions, the user can always leave the platform.

As much as I understand and possibly support TikTok deleting content, I think it would be better handled like on Instagram, where misinformation gets a tag and notifies viewers before watching the content.
This way there is still free speech, but children will be notified that the information is factually incorrect.

In regards to the situation with TikTok removing videos: As an active TikTok creator I can tell you that videos sometimes get removed for total nonsense. Mass reports of something can cause a video to get automatically removed, or even including keywords in a video can cause it to get taken down and/or your account to get "shadowbanned" where all of your new videos are only shown to followers for a period of time. These shadowbans can last weeks, months, or even be permanent depending on the type of content you post and how regularly you post, and it's incredibly common to get shadowbanned for even posting a joke comment on something, even if the comment is not harmful in the slightest and only includes a keyword that the ban system is looking for at that particular moment. (This has happened to me several times).
As for their reports system, 2 hours is a gross underestimation of how long it takes for someone to review a report. Sometimes it can take upwards of a week, with some reports sitting in limbo for up to a month before something is done. Sure, most reports are actioned in less than 24 hours, and it does actually seem to get placed in front of a real person when you report something, but there are cases where downright disturbing content like videos containing graphic injury/death are just left up on the platform for weeks on end, still getting placed in the feeds of millions, only for the report to get denied. Sometimes report outcomes are just downright falsified. There have been several sounds on TikTok where the audio is just a racial slur clearly repeated over and over again for a minute straight that have been reported and marked as "removed", but then you scroll down in your feed and find 3 videos in a row using the same audio that was previously noted as banned. They are lying to our faces, and I'm sure their report "statistics" are falsified to save face.

Once I start seeing/hearing a brand pop up on YT I'm immediately suspicious. It's not unlike the old days of seeing an ad for "as seen on tv" items, call an 800-number or mail in your order. Might be a scam, might not. Obviously the items were rarely on par with their advertisements.

It's not a violation of free speech. TikTok is a company and as such they can handle the content released through their service as they please. It's weird people even make a fuss about something like this. Of course they (TikTok) have all the right to ban orr not ban any material they think is against *their* company policies. If a user doesn't like their decisions, the user can always leave the platform.

Now, whilst Homestuck used to be massive, it's died down a lot since its release, and thus most people at my school didn't know who I was...but they did know about the jeffrey dahmer netflix show, and ig he has short blonde hair, sunglasses, and wore baseball shirts (i didnt watch it so yeh)...so everyone at my fucking school thought I was jeffrey dahmer, and I got asked like ten fucking times :,). I wanted to cry too cuz dave strider's one of my favorite fictional characters and I was so happy to dress up as him. At least one person recognize who I was tho, and wanted a photo with me which was cool, but yeh the third story just like gave me flashbacks to that 💀

The problem with true crime, certainly when the killer isn't alive, people don't see the issue with fictionalising them. I like true crime but you have to bear in mind that these were real people and real victims and it still needs treating with respect however many years have gone by.
