I was there and this doesn't do it justice. Her voice, live, was piercing, it was so awesome. You don't get the kick of the performance through CZcams. All the reverb, the effects and the vibe was stellar. Glad they won, they deserved it!

God she sounds incredible. Those high chest belts!! Forget those few shaky notes at the beginning. For they no longer exist in my mind. And she looks beautiful. What a great band. Congrats on the win!
Will never forget when I went to a wolf alice concert and Ellie and Joel went to eat at this fast food place infront of the venue while everyone was in line before the show and we were all just watching in amazement from across the street, only like 2 people went to say hi because we didn't want to bother them but they waved at us and after the show Theo came out to talk with fans and sign our stuff, my point is that they are such a wonderful and creative humble band (also Ellie is fucking badass she threw herself into the crowd at one point) they truly deserve this award
When I saw them Ellie hugged me during the last song and gave me her guitar pick! They're truly such a nice band

@@judith1564 the cool thing is that there was a bunch of people in line already And this was last year so they were already pretty big and they didn't mind talking to a lot of people, not that they ate food
After show in nashville, ellie and theo stayed out to talk to us. Theo is so outgoing. Ellie was so sweet. It was great meeting the band that changed my life.
Fans of this song: I really recommend you listen to a podcast they did with Song Exploder which explains the making of it. Went through so many iterations, and you get to hear Ellie's vocal demos and the band's experimentations with synths. I loved the song beforehand but now hear it so differently knowing the turns they took.

They are really good at writing beautiful songs in a variety of different styles. The future? Not quite.
The future of pop rock radio, for sure. The future of music in general, as in pushing the medium forward, to places as yet unheard, no.
I understand that this comment sounds assy, but it’s meant to instill, in you as well as all other readers, a desire to search the deeper realms of modern music. There is a LOT of incredible music being made right now, but very little of it is showing up in award ceremonies, and even less of it shows up on the airwaves.
That being said, Wolf Alice is a band that everybody can enjoy, and thats petty rare anymore in it’s own right.
Maybe before the Mercury Prize jury decided on a winner, they should have looked into each nomination playing live. As that is the future of music. While they might sound solid on record, this is only ok. Future of music it is not.
Their performance was pretty shit on TV, I've seen them live at a festival and they're incredible

Absolutely brilliant. Ellie has so much power in her voice that it reminds me of Dolores O’Riordan. Powerhouse with an amazing band to back her up.
