  • Radar loop of a violent EF4 tornado that struck Newnan, GA on March 25th, 2021. The tornado attained low-end EF4 intensity with wind speeds up to 170 mph. It traveled 38.6 miles and had a peak width of 1850 yds.

    I live about an hour north of where this tornado struck. I went down there last september and the damage there was still unimaginable. I never knew what this tornado looked like on radar until seeing your EF3+ Tornadoes of 2021 video and seeing that radar image sent chills down my spine. That debris ball was in the middle of the RFD and it was most likely completely rain-wrapped and also at night. This is one of my favourite supercell radar images of all time.

    I forget, does GRA show individual scan times at different tilts within volume scans? If so, anything getting this close to the radar you can use other tilts than 0.5° and have more frames.

    I told a direct hit from the strongest part of that one. 12:04AM according to the time stamp on my phone recording.
