    Dixon's secret is his off the ball running. His understanding of the game is beyond his years. People criticized Raheem Sterling for missing chances, but they ignore the fact that when he is on the field there will be chances. Like Sterling, Kaheem Dixon will help Jamaica create many chances .

    I was at the game last night and Jamaica should have won that game. Dixon was excellent and he played with a lot of passion. The more senior players should look at the Dixon. Cephas and Dixon should have started the second half. Our goalie was excellent. When all is said and done we should have beaten Mexico. Their goalie was shaky.

    I believe we have the blueprint for world cup qualification. Rene Simoes did it in the 98 campaign. What I saw in that team was a good mix of local and overseas talent. Local players had that Jamaican flare, that reggae rhythm, that swag. Overseas players with the work ethic, that professional experience. That lend itself to that perfect marriage. We saw a bit of that when Kaheim entered the field of play. That belief, that nobody nuh betta dan we. Prior to that it was very robotic and predictable. At the start of the second half we showed belief and got the ascendancy. In came the changes and we conceded and Mexico took charge of the game from there. Shamar works very hard but in transition, the play most if not all the time, break down with him. We need to get back to those days when we were less predictable.

    Maverick everything you said is spot on.My observation over the years and nobody can't seem to get it right...When are we gonna be able to play possession football over long periods..as soon as we get possession we give it right back to the opposition.We always seems to be lost the final third of the field,always attacking in isolation not with numbers.This is my very first time seeing Dixon play and it was for no more than 10 mins and I was impressed.I don't know who he should replace and honestly I don't really care but one thing I know he should start the next game..let us see if the coach will have the balls to make that move like when Rene Simones made that bold move and started then school boy Bibi Gardener over some veterans.

    The Coach is a reflection of where the MINDSET of Jamaicans were when he got hired? Some people look at the CONFIDENCE of
    Jamaicans and think that we are too arrogant. They can't relate to that "we likkle but wi tallawah" Energy. Unfortunately many "leaders"
    in Jamaica can't see value in home built Jamaicans from the JPL even when the Energy is pointing us in that direction. We are fighting
    inner "second-class mentality" issues that is manifesting in our football. We need a good African coach with big league experience

    I understand what you are saying. Especially for cephas , but he went with the two big body strikers to try to man handle the Mexican defenders but the issue was the substitutions and the disorganized set right after which led to the goal , no one in the middle to protect the back line , very obvious that there was confusion on the field . Needed time to set the plan and the set up of individual positions.

    The coaches method is working. We have been more competitive than ever before. We haven't played the top Concacaf teams this close until recently. We played a good on Saturday. Kasey Palmer looks to be getting more comfortable playing for Jamaica. It was his best game. Bobby Reid did well in the midfield until he got tired in the end and allowed the Mexican an uncontested shot. And the squad looks like we won't have to depend on anyone player.Overall we are on the right track under coach Hallgrimmson. Lets support the coach. The coach has outlined his approach to the Copa and we should support him. There are a lot of positives to see.

  • @landothomas1118
    @landothomas1118 Před 4 dny

    The coach gotta go. I’ll give you two issues. 1. Can’t play Nicholson and Antonio at the same time. 2. You cannot have 2 midfielders fighting in the middle against a central or South American team. You have to overload the middle to create a tactical balance. This means you can’t play with 2 #9s. You need a midfield diamond or a #10 who will work defensively. Bonus: Hitting long balls straight over the top is so ancient and European. We can’t win like that.

    Sometimes when Maverick talks, it sounds like he has an agenda. Because I want to believe that he is more knowledgeable about the game than this. How can you criticize Gray and Antonio, who were by far, our two best players in that game. Dixon looked good and I’m excited to see what he does in the future but coming on in the last 10 minutes to take on defenders with tired legs is easier than the shift Gray and Antonio put in. Nicholson had really bad game, he lost possession numerous times, did not win a single ball in the air, and did not do any hold up play to ease the pressure. His decision making yesterday was not the best. I like him and I’m not bashing him because I think he could be a key player for the team but I don’t understand how or why you didn’t mention him when criticizing players? It’s strange that Maverick would over look that to level criticism at Antonio after the work he did for us.
    I agree with you that two number 9s on the field does not make sense. He should start Antonio and if we aren’t getting anything from him switch in the 60th to 70th minute. Maverick, you should be criticizing the players for not rewarding Antonio with a ball in a position to score. A true number 9 needs service!
    I also agree with you on the coaches decision making and substitution. I don’t understand what he’s doing. It felt like he was trying to give everybody a run, which would have been fi fine in a friendly but not for a tournament.

    I wasn’t expecting JM to win and was surprised that they didn’t concede earlier as MX was all over us. They are much quicker on and off the ball, defend in pairs and are close to the ball. We on the other hand have 5 at the back, play at least 20 feet from each other in attack and Antonio even when he catches the ball has no help up front so has to hold up the play. Our te is really built to defend or score on a set play but even out few corners were poor. It was painful to watch as after two years or almost with this coach I still don’t see a useful style / philosophy and I hate the Long balls like England where Pickford kicks out to Kane

The game against Mexico was a Ventilator even though it was one loss vs three straight ugly wins. We have the team to beat Mexico now. We should never have Shamar Nicholson and Antonio on the team at the same time. Start Dickson or what's his name Sephas that is speedy? Dickson shows up the coach's cowardly errors. This is what Renee Semoes have over a lot of coaches.
    Two finisher at the same time, we needed one with some speed or creativity 😢😢 you know what that's gone. Let's move on.
