Way back when I lived alone in a 4th floor apartment alone I read Turning the Screw. It scared me so much I hid a butcher knife in the bathroom before I could take a bath.
My sympathies! I've just read it for (I think) the 4th time. I am now quite convinced that the governess is characterised as insane, and that the ghosts do not exist. James nastily puts in a red herring to mislead the poor reader!
@baros62 Not to mention that if anyone might know for sure, it would be the person who extracted the selection from the movie and uploaded it... i.e. me. Yet I was still told otherwise, lol.
@adazhia nope, look at the filming, it's very good quality. This is definately the 2009 version as colin also looks alot older than when he did Bridget Jones which was early 2000.
@TheOobster I like Saw but it doesn't get to me, i just like the interesting torture contraptions. I totally agree with you though, it's always so much more frightening if the writer and director are using more suggestion than acctual happenings. I think it's much more twisted if the film is turning the idea round and making your mind think of the horror instead of (like you said) spelling it out for us. I would much rather watch The Shining or The Turn Of The Screw than Saw.
@666jimmysmusicgirl I see. You don't want to admit it's the 1999 version. Look... just simply go to a site like BEST BUY and search for TURN OF THE SCREW. Look in the synapse for the one starring Colin Firth. Now look at the year it was released in the dvd info. You make it seem like "good video quality" can not exist in 1999. It isn't even that long ago. This is the 1999 version. Where, exactly did yu find that it's the 2009 version?
2009 acctually sir! thanks anyway, i love this film, i couldn't remember its name and i just remembered it after hearing O Willow Waly which is a song that shows up on it :)
@666jimmysmusicgirl Look... There's no need for nastiness. You may want to look up the FACTS before you go "correcting" someone. And my knickers?... They're just fine and dandy!!
@TheOobster Yeah, it acctually has alot of reference to my own life as well, i can't stop listening to it :) i think films like Psycho and The Shining are so much better than modern horror films because they couldn't use the technology we can. Instead, they use light and suspence, you can feel very, very on edge when nothing is acctually going to happen in the very same scene :)
@baros62 When did I say a nasty thing in that comment? I'm trying to be civil with you, I accepted I might have it wrong but In future I won't waste my time.
@baros62 Why would I make a fool of myself and lie about it. Maybe you're right (I'm not, now, saying that you're not) I just thought that the camera style was advanced and the information was obviously wrong. Is that ok? Did you manage to keep your nickers on?
You can't resist Colin Firth.
Colin Firth is the quintessential prince charming if there ever was one.
Not in that film
@@patriciaferrini8652 I did notice that lol. He’s a bit of a troll in this film.

@666jimmysmusicgirl I hate to bust your bubble but this IS the 1999 version in this clip. All you have to do is look it up on wikipedia or the likes.

1999 version
"May I place my confidence in you?" lmao worst/funniest innuendo everrrr
Really?! I don't get why this would be intended innuendo as I think this is his only scene
Jodhi May is so cute
Mr Darcy!!!
colin firth marry me!
@666jimmysmusicgirl You might be referring to a different BBC version from 2009. The one in the clip is 1999.
@baros62 ... I did do some research.. and it said 2009.... Plus in the nineties the camering style would have been different.
I got a heart of gold! Does that count?

She smile flirty to him so soon. Really improper for that time. Is that really in the book?
I believe that's just how Jodhi May smiles. she has a perfectly crooked smile! :)
No, in the book the meeting it's not showed.

I hate that kind of caracter.
