- this is my favorite project i've worked on in a long, long time. i practiced a mediterranian (specifically, greek) accent a while back for a DND character, and it seemed perfect for a video about Black Reliquary; a total conversion mod for DD. I talked with one of the devs (a lot) about it during the video production and they were super helpful, so thanks to rehtael!

“Try not to get distracted by the femboys in their employ”
SAY WHAT NOW? SOLD! (lol)
Cannot imagine how many takes it took to get that accent right.
Excellent video!
thankfully, not many. i trained to do this voice a while back and it's not hard to switch into now. infact, I probably screwed up less takes with this accent than I do speaking normally which is odd
One thing I don't like about the Janissary fight is that it feels like you absolutely require a Man-at-Arms to have a decent shot at it. Or at least a party that can self-riposte. Otherwise you're just going to get mopped.
Also fun fact about the fight, the Marked Target by the Janissary gets a +75 ACC towards the Janissary himself. However if you have a character buffed to shit it's very easy to miss that. Wish they gave it its own stat like the Trogs get for the Amber Corpses.
I must say that BR feels fair to me as of now, i love 2 new ladies in our roster (dredge and exalted are suprisingly both female; bunch of armored enemies if voice is anything to go by are female as well). I love musketeer rework in this one and using her as i call it Bonketeer is a lot of fun (aka as meele fighter). Also Janisar has a lot of dodge for characters that ain't in a duel with him so riposting on his duel opponents is great. Also fun fact Hyenas are from suborder feliformia meaning that if you want to call them inacuratelly then calling them cats would make more sense
the gender of certain characters was actually the first thing I asked the dev about, and here is what they sent me:
Terpsichorean - male
Judicator - female
Dredge - female
Thaumaturge - male
lev sniper - female
lev firewalker - female
alraune - they/it
trogs - ???? just go for male
Warhawk tribute curio - male
there y'go, straight from the source
@@cassius_scrungoman thank you very much
@@cassius_scrungoman Man, I liked Terpsichorean as a tomboy...I guess it can be my headcanon haha. Firewalker being female is cool, though it's hard to tell anything about their gender with all that armour lol.
Thank you for the video.
It hard to fight the femboy enemy tbh
neat use of the bonus caverns music in here.. great video!
I need an art repository for my research. Studies into this... *exotic* new land, and it's diligently shameless inhabits have produced a malign curiosity in me, i must admit...
Nice job dude
00:35 brocoli, brocolie, brocalikoliko pie. God I've been online too long.
Great video
I am kinda want to make DD1 and BR video review so I had similar idea of complain like you, surprisingly.
Also “Red Hook have to kill Crusader” well isn’t that age finely?
5:15 The Dualist will buff acc of the target of fight to the death, 80 iirc.
1.5, not 3
Honestly? Looks more like an expansion than a "true sequel." Whatever that means.
Still impressive stuff from a group of dedicated players that crafted such a well polished game. Wish them well with DD 1.5.
Cool, i'm in! (ready to vomit blood...)
DD 1.5
Nice
I honestly have no idea what DD2 is trying to do. I would never even play it because every frame i've ever seen of it looks like hot garbage. BR is my DD2, so I'm really glad it exists and attempts to actually continue making something like that game i love called Darkest Dungeon.
DD2 is trying to be its own thing. Red Hook do not want the original to be abandoned and forgotten by the community and want to try something different. The game is actually enjoyable but if you don’t want to give it a chance, that’s fine.
@@vipersniperpiper6093 well that is by definition a spin off and not a sequel. And if you make the spin off a sequel then you are basically dumpstering the original concept. Which I think is pretty sad, because dd1 had a great formula for a game.
@@MYPSYAI Not exactly, there have been cases of game’s having sequels that are completely different gameplay wise because it’s a continuation of the story. That’s why it’s called a sequel. And again,Red Hook don’t want to just make a better version of the original. They the first one to still be its own thing. You can just go back to dd1 if you want reexperience it again. The sequel will have its own audience that like it.
Black Reliquary even with it's countless hot enemies is not my jam imo. Darkest Dungeon 2 is where its at for me because it removes the worst part of the first game, the hamlet, and the infinite lines of text and minor percent increase or decrease chances that just get ridiculous. I much prefer DD2s token system which makes things much more intuitive. Also DD2 Is gorgeous, a true marvel of art direction, and although I've played and relatively enjoy BR I personally lose alot of theme when every other enemy looks like I put them into a R34 machine. I think that BR's setup round really makes combat a slog and prevents me from killing anything in a timely manner, with bosses regularly cracking 350 hp and normal enemies also being incredibly tanky it gets annoying fast. Plus DD2's variation on individual characters makes them much more expressive and interesting. If you haven't checked out DD2 since it's full release you should! It's everything good about the first game condensed and tightened, but I get why people dislike the rougelite elements.
Tbh I'm really happy we have both Black Reliquary and Darkest Dungeon 2 because all of the things that you said that you disliked and felt like was the worst parts are literally my favorite parts of DD1. It's for sure something that is preference driven and not just an outright failing of DD1 or DD2. That said not everyone liked playing DD1 like an excel spreadsheet and that's completely valid, that part of the game isn't for everyone and DD2 for sure has more broad appeal but for the niches like me DD1 and BR is where it's at (but again I'm happy that we have both as neither DD1 or DD2 is better than the other, just different).

Yeah the numbers on enemies had increased but so are the heroes so I dont really have an issue with that overall the mod seems more fun and balanced to me then DD1. And I dont mean it in a pretenteous "git good" way but like all the enemies now show what they can do, you can camp more which means camping buffs actually matter, quirks and religion infulence the team comps so much that you can make literally anything works and the trinkets ... oh the trinkets some make your heroes into completly different characters while others provide a way to comepletly shut down any faction. So the mod diffuclty is heavily based on preparation and can be seen as super unforgiven hard at first but again preaparation is THE KEY more then ever. The desert is unfogiven but we have the means and men to make it bend to us. Also great video!
