  • In this restoration video you will see: lathe work, metal spinning, nickel plating and chrome plating, in addition to the usual restoration work.
    This scale is a model from the years 1940-1950. The Company is called Jiffy Way and is made USA. Through a few searches on Ebay I discovered this egg scale, I saw that there are many ads with this type of scale and decided to buy it. The price was a bit high, around $ 60, but I thought this kitchen tool would be worth a perfect restoration made by me , who knows, maybe I will use it. The total price of the scale and restoration exceeded $ 150 but I will let you to decide it is worth or not. I spent a month restoring this scale and I am satisfied with the work I did.
    I hope you like this restoration video and share this joy with me.
    Cheers and Enjoy !!

    My grandma and grandpa own this exact kind of egg scale! I recognized it from the decal. It's still in pretty decent condition, though not nearly as pretty as your restoration! I'd play with it all the time and always be so eager to use it after we'd collected all the eggs. Thank you for making me remember a very happy part of my childhood that I'd almost forgotten!

    Oh man! How cool was that? Back in the 50's I used to use one of these to qualify the eggs we sold to our local hatchery. What memories this brought back. Hat's off to a happier time. Thanks. P.S. I never knew what the carter pin was for, and now I know.

      Monotony describes a lot of farm work. I was a dairy farm kid in my teenage summers were a couple hours of milking cows each morning and evening and then 10 to 12 hours running a diesel tractor to mower bail hay which was incredibly boring work. We did eggs and broiler hens as a side business and had two manual scales. I think one may have been this design from very vague memories while the other was very different. We didn't much use them by the time I was a kid because a couple nearby poultry operations had expanded and upgraded their equipment, selling their old electric graders for cheap enough we could afford it and the repairs it needed. There's a video on CZcams of the model we had; look up "keenco egg grader." It was still an awful lot of manual work just a particular bit was automated to a degree.

      @@DanielleWhite I'll had a look at that, wow, the metal parts and no breakages. thanks for pointing me to it. Worked underground myself and began there just sitting in a man-hole at the low point for weeks turning the Sykes water pump on when the water reached three feet, and off when it reached one....ohhh the days were long then but for completely different reasons that the reasons yours must have been. Eventually for to do 'proper' work when I was 'seasoned'.

    What I love about some of these restoration channels is that the do lead tests. Like it just makes me real happy to see them being smart and safe.
    Edit: the sandblast is a 9. It's pretty darn clear but was some haziness. Still definitely clear enough to be satisfying and mostly unnoticeable.

    • @CoolAgainRestoration
      @CoolAgainRestoration  Před 2 lety +4

      Thank you very much Dylan for all this kind words. About sandblasting,I don’t seen a clarity of 10. Because inside is a lot of dust and sand 😅😅 what you seen there,is all I can do,is maximum from me. So,this means 9 will be maximum note 🤣
