    I think the main thing with Kragnos and Gobbsprakk is that in all the books Gobbsprakk "interprets" Kragnos' words in whatever way most benefits himself. He knows the only reason he has the power he does is because he can tell the rest of the WAAAAAGH what he wants is what the biggest baddest boy wants. However for Gobsprakk to retain his authority as the voice of Kragnos, he has to remain the only being that understand Kragnos, as to how I am pretty sure they said he ate so many monster tongues and after killing that lord of change he can speak every language. Gobsprakk needs Kragnos dependent on him and he needs Kragnos to be a constant engine of destruction while understanding Kragnos' wrath is born from his loneliness and desire to find his people, and so Gobsprakk will do whatever he can to ensure that Kragnos stays alone and his path of destruction has no end point so that way Gobsprakk has an eternal WAAAGH to command.

    For the Ionus stuff, it's been mentioned a couple of times with the promos for him that he steals away stormcast that've been reforged "too many times" by whatever metric he measures it whenever he intervenes somewhere and that it's connected to his mission to try and find a way to fix reforging flaws and stop the degredation of stormcast. Exactly what he's doing to them isn't really clear but it's got to be some vaguely sinister experimentation if he's secretly sneaking them away and they're never seen again

    I really hope whatever Vandus is doing with these Stormcast souls isn't too grimdark. I'm a little bit sick of Stormcast constantly getting made grubbier, and the short story they'd put up on Warhammer Community centred around Ionus was pretty uplifting.
    The ideal for me is that the souls aren't being harmed, and he's looking after them in hopes of finding a cure to their flaws of Reforging. I want Ionus' effort to fix Stormcast actually mean something, and not just be another excuse to torture Stormcast and make them more evil.

    • @DaHobbles
      @DaHobbles Před 8 měsíci +2

      I think keeping the flaw there is interesting. As Doug mentioned, it gives stakes to these immortal beings, otherwise they’d all be Gaurdus because there’s little point to not play things risky and “sacrifice” to the last man in a lot of stories.
      Now I think there could be a fix to the flaw that is in and of itself flawed/morally questionable. It’d be interesting because it’d show that characters like Ionis and Astria actually have impact to the story, while not taking Stormcast back to the automaton state they were in when they had their infinite life glitch.
      I guess if they just straight up fixed the flaw then GW could pivot and focus on Stormcast being actually lawful evil. They’ve saved the day in a lot of big battles but they’ve also been pretty tyrannical and an intense colonialist power in a ton of spots throughout AoS but idk if I can imagine a world where GW really wants that side to be the focus lol

    • @tombouric
      @tombouric Před 8 měsíci +3

      @@DaHobbles I never said I wanted Ionus to find a cure to the flaw of Reforging. Personally, I think it's a bit too over-emphasised, and distracts from the other ways that Stormcast sacrifice and are tormented, and I disagree that death has no consequences for Stormcast (death after all means that the mortals they're sworn to protect become just a little more vulnerable, and there's a lot of fun angst to be had in that.), but yeah it's too much of a good plot point to completely discard.
      I'm just talking about whether Ionus turns out to be secretly doing some pretty evil stuff with the Stormcast souls he spirits away. I don't want him to, I want him to fully care about them and do his best to care for them, even if ultimately it doesn't lead to a cure to Reforging.
      To quote Cthorak in Sundered Bonds; "‘No effort to save those you love is ever pointless. It is what makes you Stormcast." That is what I want to see from Ionus. Not a cheap attempt at easy grimdark by making him do some horrible things to Stormcast.

    • @tombouric
      @tombouric Před 8 měsíci +3

      @@arcahmwinters70 I sometimes get that impression too, though I think it can be likely put down to different authors having their differing visions of AoS and putting it into prose, hence a slightly disjointed vision of AoS. All settings have this, after a while you kinda just have to pick and choose what version you want to explore.
      Still, my hope is that GW is trending back into the less grimdark direction. I haven't read the Yndrasta novel, but there's soke extracts that made it look very promising (such as one where Knights Excelsior are shown as trying to redeem Chaos worshippers), plus what little of I onus we've actually seen seems to have him genuinely be nice, like the Sundered Bonds short story. Might just be hopium lol.

      @tombouric I hope that we get Lightning Geist Stormcast that are tortured souls still fighting the good fight. That really doesn't go against the setting where horrible things happen to good people, but they still fight for what's right anyway.

    Coming back to this video and knowing what Astreia is searching for after the Ushorann loremasters + recent short story plus Ionus as well really feels like itnis coming to some solution, if even temporary, to helping either reforging. Also seeing Neave now in Thunderstrike as well as Ionus and the Stormcoven having some mages I am really hoping 4th edition brings some Thunderstrike upgrades to units like Evocators and other sacrosanct chamber as their chamber feels like it fits well with Ionus and Astreias goals.

  • @LorrusGrymn
    @LorrusGrymn Před 8 měsíci +2

    In Plague Garden, Morbus Stormwarden (the wisest and most powerful Lord-Relictor) used a rite to absorb the souls of fallen Stormcast into him because they couldn't escape the Garden of Nurgle on their own. It was taxing for him and literally burning him away. Gardus noticed at some point that he didn't hear Morbus' breath, and Morbus answered that he no longer had longs. He carried quite a few of these souls; in the end, he used them to attack Nurgle himself and even hurt him. It is not clearly explained how it worked, but my theory is that he made some rift to Azyre, or he became a conduit for Sigmar so he could have a slap on Nurgle in his realm. Maybe this quack Ionus does something similar. I would not be surprised if such an incompetent bungler like him failed miserably in what he was planning.

    The flaws of the reforging I think is great for the narrative and would love to see a corrupted stormhost or for their to be like a purge of storm cast I think narratively it just opens up so much more and allows for some very fun paths for the setting. Ionus is definitely doing something that sigmar needs done but not something he wants everybody to know about and I hope the secrecy behind is backed up with something somewhat narrative changing when revealed. But I think future is bright for AOS.

    I know the Summer King is probably Kurnoth/Orion, but could it be Tyrion? He's after all a god of fire, light and phoenixes (phoenixs?), which die and return, like summer. Plus, him and Alarielle have a lot of history together to put it lightly; and in celtic myth (which the aelves and sylvaneth take a lot) the warrior god Lug was also the god of the Sun, and Tyrion has been refered to as the aelf god of war
