    Hello everyone!
Once again, this is a reminder that my video doesn't intend to be heavily critical towards Arlecchino but it tries to outline possible children's rights issues just for discussion. You may raise your points in the comments in a civilized way. Thank you!
For those of you that watch my videos, I tend to pronounce Khaenri'ah in an unusual way because I'm thinking of the ae sound in Latin. However, Khaenri'ah could also be an Arabic word I heard (?) so maybe I have to change pronunciation (???) That's the reason why I pronounced it inconsistently within the video. Apologies for that.
Also, I edited this in a bit of a rush because I was dragging my feet on it so just listen to it as if it were a podcast or something. Thanks for watching!

I think it might be more accurate to describe Arlecchino as a sheep in wolf’s clothing
They were pretty young when they killed the previous Director and became #4, showing any weakness would’ve been dangerous (especially with how scummy the other Harbingers are)
Arlecchino cares a lot, no doubt about that. But they don’t show it out of fear of not only appearing weak but also inspiring weakness in their children. This is a flawed mentality but it makes sense from what I have seen
The part of Arlecchino that could’ve become a better version of themselves died when they were crowned #4

Some of these comments are similar to what I said criticizing Wriothsley eg sending Freminet into danger despite his owing his inmates a duty of care, no less than an orphanage manager. There is a sense though where the game appears to want to portray Arlecchino as even more innocent than it tries to make Wriothesley. The children fighting against Wriothesley seems a lot meaner and nastier by him than even when Arlecchino is pretending she's going to kill some kids somehow. Logically it shouldn't be that way but I'm talking about the emotional impression those two scenes portray. Arlecchino is portrayed consistently as a 100% pure sweetie despite whatever the logic of her actions is. it doesn't really make a lot of sense. It makes you seek out opportunities to let her off the hook even more than the game already does (which is a lot) to make the story make sense. For example it doesn't feel as if 17 year old Arlecchino has any real choice but to accept taking on the job of "father". But this then has the effect of making the rest of the Harbingers more evil by transferring it from Arlecchino.
I mean what's up with Capitano just standing there while Pierro chuckles to himself about how screwed this teenager is now? Well not exactly chuckling but it's pretty bad. "You're going to have to take on the job of torturing kids for us now." While this is an effective way to keep Arlecchino pure hearted it stains everyone else.
And if you're saying she should do a runner she might believe she's a better "father" than whatever nutcase they'd get if she wasn't around -- like Signora maybe. Or Scaramouche?
    -----------------------------------
My main issue with Arlecchino is that she was advertised as a "wolf in sheep's clothing" or crazy aggressive somehow and it's just not there at all. it doesn't make much sense that she's 100% pure but we keep getting told that in the game. eg when you sign her up into the team or her "hello" voice line or other voice lines, she's stating as if it's a fact that her goals and Traveler's goals are not in conflict. The hell you say!

Thank you for talking about this! I feel like so many people have accepted her as a wholly good guy while ignoring her deep parental flaws. I think it's also important to read Lyney and Lynette's vision stories, which were from when they were children, and how they nearly died as a result of the missions that they had been sent on. I thin that alone shows that Arelcchino can't be considered a good parent.

I really like arle, but i found myself disappointed with how she ended up being? she was hyped up for so long by multiple characters for being "crazy" and "cruel" and i think this is why she ended up feeling a little underwhelming. she was okay in the aq but i was really hoping we would see her darker side after it being teased for so long. so i was disappointed at the reveal her children's "executions" where just a memory wipe (though, i agree with you that a memory loss is still an unfavorable ending either way). like why cant hoyo just let their villains be evil? im not saying she has to be a horrible child abuser (even if that one freminet voice line does sort of imply that), but i was expecting a lot more from how she was presented.
i think a lot of this is less of a problem arle specific problem and more of a running theme of hoyo watering down their villains the moment they become playable. its a pattern we've seen with ei then scara (although i think scaras writing was handled better than ei's by a longshot) (and i guess you could make an argument childe follows that pattern as well) and now with arle. i understand that they need to be on somewhat friendly terms with the traveler because the "canon explanation" of characters being playable is that theyre traveling alongside them. additionally they dont wanna make a character "too irredeemable" in fear of their banner tanking. but like? whatre they gonna do when characters like dottore are released? will they backtrack on his characterization as well? its just a bit frustrating as a fan of villainous characters, lol
honestly, i cant even blame ppl who are convinced arle is a morally correct character, considering the games been desperately trying to convince us shes a good person (and therefore her wrongdoings are irrelevant) since the moment she appeared on screen

"Why can't Hoyo let there Villains be evil?"
One. CCP regulations will not allow it. At most anti hero.
2nd. Have you seen Chixia from WuWa? Just one scene among many where the MC is disrespected and seemingly having no way to improve your standing with them lead to Kuro rewriting the entire story.
When it comes to Waifu, Connection is absolutely Important on top of Meta, Personality and Visual Appeal. It's much easier to establish this with an Anti hero than a Cruel Villain who is cruel to Beloved characters like Freminent, Lyney and Lynette.

And Arlecchino even admits that the Biases to her as Crazy or Cruel is something she lets everyone else believe on Purpose.
She basically sees those Misconceptions as Useful for her role as the Knave. Which you have to remember was forced upon her.
