My dad worked on the crew cab line in Flint, Michigan when this truck was built. Often you can still find the "C/C" line sticker inside the drivers door on these. Very cool!!
Oh, I'll have to look! Very cool.
That crew cab pickup is an antique nowadays.
Texas SquareBodies would be the perfect place to do a model year line-up, showing the progression of the squarebody.
Smokey, he's a big boy.
Can already see this is gonna be right.
That's a great idea!
I can’t wait to see this thing all shined up!
That is one big truck...and a darn clean one, to boot! I remember seeing a couple of those('90 or '91)back when they were new @ the Chevy dealer I worked at...they were a bright yellowish green and were going to a rural fire department. Cool truck😎👍
1973-1987
1/2 ton & 3/4 ton regular cabs
1973-1989
1 ton regular cabs
1973-1991
Crew cabs, Suburbans, Blazers, & Jimmys
Half a c hair 😂😂😂. Awesome truck Robbie. Can’t wait until you start working on it to give me motivation for my 88 crew cab. Gathering parts for a LT/6l80e swap. Already have a lot of the parts square body syndicate gauges, new dual fuel pump wiring from jabin wood, 2018 tan Denali front and rear seats with full console, bp automotive harness. Can’t wait for more update videos
Dude, I can't believe I didn't catch that! lol Very cool truck project you have too! Stick with it!
I almost spit my drink out when he said that! hilarious lol
I was wondering if anyone else noticed that as well that was freaking funny
@@kevinwilliams9211 I cracked up when u heard it.
I have a 1984 GMC K2500 4x4 Suburban. Runs and drives like a new one. Only better.
Heck yeah!
@@UNITEDBYTRUCKS Keep her looking stock IMO, just gives them a cleaner look. Look forward to seeing it finished.
Considering that those bigger crew cab trucks were mainly bought by commercial entities and not really offered to the public. I'd say that's a great buy or find.
I’m so pumped!
This beast will be awesome! Can't wait to see the progress. Such a cool truck.
You and me both!
I started off with the exact same srw 3+3 truck for my project, except it had a utility bed on it when I got it. Zero rust anywhere. Same forest service green over tan interior. 350, sm465, np205, 4.56 axles. I’ve swapped out the dented manual doors for power and put a good fleetside bed on it. Seeing this video has me motivated to get back to it. Thanks.
Congrats on the new truck! Definitely has some cool factor. 😎🇺🇸
Yes it does! Thanks!
Thats my dream truck also Robbie
Awesome truck! Looking forward to following along on the build.
Thanks!
That is a sweet ride!
Thanks much, man! We love it.
Congrats. Keep on trucking!!!!
Thanks man!
I can not wait to see it done!
Me either, but slow and steady wins the race lol

Love Tony's place and like all of your videos
Thank you!
Love it ! All the right stuff in it !
Thanks, man!
I Believe I was informed & told the same as he was ..on that subject.. & yess the the Exterior over head board Cab light are Original 2 all Dually pick ups & optional on some 2500 & 3500 single wheel Trucks
That's about what I've gathered as well!
I have a 87 K30 Army Truck M1028. It is my daily Driver, Just installed a LQ4 with heads and cam, 4L80E trans, Holley Terminator ECU, Vintage Air. and Dana 60 Axles. You can't Hurt that Truck.
Very cool!
Watching this wearing my new ubtk5 hat I just got in the mail! Looking forward to this build!
Nothing better! Thanks for the support.
Happy the videos keep dropping. Keep it up.
Yes sir!
Another great truck Rob, can't wait to see more content on it
Coming soon!
I had an 87 2wd with a 4speed transmission tbi 350 back about 20 years ago. I wish I still had it.
Very cool!
That’s the best truck you have bro for sure the coolest factory truck anyway
Haha thanks buddy
great find! amazing
Thank you!
That sure is a nice, clean looking old truck.
I think so too!
Perfect family truck 😁
It sure is!
That thing is awesome!!! On a side note, I admire your hair..... sure wish mine was that thick! Glad to see some content back on the channel!!
Thanks so much, man! I've got plenty of it for sure.
Smokey Bear 👍🏻 nice!
I thought so!
sweet truck, im like you buff it and drive it. i couldn't do a Duramax swap just because of the cost, but i could do a 6.5. i have a 83 C20 with a 6.2 and i love that truck, has more then enough power and gets 22 mpg on the highway.
please keep us posted on your truck.
👍👍👍👍
Definitely doing the Duramax in the future, but this truck is just too cool to mess with the original look of it.
Very common vehicle in my part of the country, the smaller towns etc in my work areas there are always several still being used or parked for future projects, occasionally someone can talk an owner out of one. Not just forest service I've seen three or four over the years, but private Individual purchases, I keep my eye on them in case a sign shows up in the window, glad you found yours.
Me too! They are definitely more common west of the Mississippi too
Thanks for the decals and email replies man. Can't wait to put them on my rig!
You bet! Thanks for the support!
Color me envious!!!! I’ve been wanting another crew cab square, now it’s worse!!!! Can’t wait to see what the finished product is!!
I'm so stoked on this truck!
I’m super excited about this one!
Me too, man!
That is original paint, US Forestry pays extra to have them ordered in their custom green. Nice find man
Yes sir! Exactly what we thought
Robbie, I have the same AT4 in white!!! They are a beast!!!!
Love it! The white is slick too
I have the same year & model truck with a TBI 454 purchased by the state of VA. Originally an orange & white truck state highway truck that has since been painted black. The guy I got it from put 3/4 running gear under it after placing the one ton axles in another truck. I drive it to work a few times a week and recently picked up a full floating one ton rear axle and am now searching for a Dana 60 front. It is a great truck for my family to cruise in and I hope that you enjoy yours as much as I enjoy having mine.
Awesome! Thanks for sharing. Glad to hear you are!
That white dually 👍
Congrats on you purchase!
Thank you!
Awesome truck! I have an 88 crew cab Western Hauler Squarebody. It's super sweet and rare, I've never seen one like it. Big block, 4 speed manual, d60 front, 14b rear, 205 tcase. Thing is bulletproof and is fully loaded power windows, locks, a/c, radar detector, cb radio etc all factory.
Whoa! Now that’s a cool truck
Wicked guys!!!
Awesome truck man!! Cool video as always and the field truck..you can spend hours there.
Oh yeah! Thanks for watching.
My dream truck has the round headlights but that can be arranged on that truck 😏 beautiful find
Totally! I think the OG paint and Forestry work outweighs the roundeye for me. So stoked!
Dawm! Brother u see the stuff we chevy lovers want to see
More to come!
Tony!!
Sweet crew cab I have a 78 crew an love it
AWESOME!
I Put the 9.00x16 super lug’s on my stock steel wheels and caps. Love any classic crew cab 4wd👍
Very cool! We went with a little different tire but video coming soon on those
Can’t wait to see this one. Got myself a single wheel shortbox V3500 and also duramax swapping it
Oh hell yeah!
Cool !
Damn, that's bee-u-t-ful truck. Cab liights, gate lites, and a/c with automatic, and 410 posi... very nice...
I agree, Mark! I'm so pumped about it.
Awesome truck. I thought the body style stopped in 87 but obviously not . Just different label for 2/4wd ..color is so cool . I found my build sheet under my front seat in the seat springs ...mines 79 k30 srw crew with 400ci and its all there still and was originally purchased for a hazmat response for local city use and I'm the second owner ...congratulations on your badass truck dude
Man that’s so rad! Thanks so much man
I had an '85 k20 single cab long bed forestry truck. There is an exemption for smog with those trucks. I learned by way of a smog fiasco. First shop said it need cats so I redid the exhaust but ended up at another shop for smog and they would not pass it because I put cats on it. I had to rip out a brand new exhaust but it ended up the best firewood truck ever!
That’s interesting that forestry trucks are/were smog exempt…I knew about military trucks but that’s a new one to me.
Awesome truck! I need to get with him, for a few parts. May I suggest air bags on your Duramax. I had to put them on my pickup just to level out the load. To bad I didn’t catch you on the road, you passed through my hometown of Bossier city. Thanks for the video!
Thanks for the tip! May do that. Definitely came through Bossier City!
I love that truck and dude place has alot of badass trucks
Thanks, Cody!
cool truck
Smokey is a good name but Jolly Green, Sweet! Love the truck
I like it!
This is my dream truck too…
so awesome
Thanks, man!
I bought a 83 2wd Oklahoma park ranger truck that's wilderness green and still has the dept of recreation and tourism decals on the doors. She getting lowered right now.
Can't wait to see it cleaned up. Love watching old faded vehicles getting buffed out
It’s true man!
@@UNITEDBYTRUCKS add led lights and upgrade all electrics for famping
@@UNITEDBYTRUCKS Im in Georgia and i have the grille that would be in that truck. My truck is 90 1 ton 2wd that im making a dually. My 2wd single wheel crew cab 1 ton doesn’t have cab lights. If you want the grille you can have it.
@@ericcarroll9881 that would be awesome, Eric. Shoot me an email to unitedbytrucks@gmail.com
@@UNITEDBYTRUCKS alrighty I will
Smokey will look so good pullin' Teddy down the road.
Smokey is really really cool!
Thank you
Coolest color ever, love it!
Me too!
I like the fading of the color as well
@@JacksonGuitarsPlayer03 patina to you sir..........
Minty
@@rsprockets7846 only on the older vehicles faded looks alright truck like this suits that faded green
72 3/4 dream truck
Clearance lights are required by Federal law for any vehicle that exceeds 80” in width. That’s why all dualies have clearance lights. Other trucks can get the clearance lights as an option I suppose.
All 1 ton trucks have cab lights
Not completely true. DRW one tons do but the single rear one tons didn't all get cab lights. Gus, our 2wd one ton, does not have cab lights but Smokey does.
Hummer H1s are obviously single wheel and not a 1 ton, but require clearance lights because …….they exceed 80” in width.
This is awesome! If it was 2wd I'd say make it a short bed half ton but a rare v3500 crew definitely leave it fairly stockish.
I’m so glad it’s 4x4!
For a 1990 I thought it was a 78, chevy was definitely behind the curve of pickups of the time 🤣
It’s true
Lots of plugwires for a K 30 ;)
Yes.duallies had cab clearance lights because of the added whith. Think ford raptor. It is wider than a standard f150 hence the clearance lights in the grill
Yep
Now thats a place i could fall in love with and never leav better stay away from there lol
Haha
I subbed for Smokey.
Dude. Thanks!
we took the bolts out of the coupler on our trailer and replaced it with pins. So if someone wants to steal it they have to bring their own hitch lol
Swell idea! Thanks for the tip.
Take it home
That would look nice sitting beside my 91 v3500 dually brush truck....
Haha
awesome truck! I would get a patina painted forestry service logo put on the doors!
We've got some things in the works for sure!
Dammit man!! Load that thing up backwards! Cheese n Rice watching people squat their way down the hiway because of improper load distribution drives me nuts man fakk! Engine over axles engine over axles🤨
Nice trailer bro.
Killer Truck.
Nice canton Tx
I work for the US Forest Service and am dying to find a FS Green truck like this. We don't order green trucks except for fire engines anymore, and I think it would be so cool to roll into the ranger station in a classic like this. Although I would prefer something a *bit* shorter than the full crew cab, long bed. We still use those but I'll admit I prefer the smaller pickups.
I didn't know that! I love this truck and really can't wait to give it more of the love it deserves. If you're anywhere near the SE, we could make you rolling into the Ranger Station in this truck when we have it more reliable a possibility. Shoot me an email (unitedbytrucks@gmail.com) and lets chat about it. It's not for sale, but I'd love to see the look on the Ranger's faces when we pulled up in this. It'd also be great to learn more about how this truck might've been used by the USFS.
@@UNITEDBYTRUCKS Hey, thanks for the reply! I'm over in Utah, but I really appreciate that offer, it's a really sweet truck. I'll shoot you an email just to chat and see if there is anything I can answer about the USFS. Mostly we use trucks like that to haul in a crew and their equipment. So for trail work, buckets, shovels, Pulaskis and the like. Although I work as a park ranger so the last thing I used a pickup for was transporting a smokey bear costume around. Today I am using a Ford C-Max, which is maybe less iconic!
Nice truck I'll give you your money back for it. Had a 81 with a it 454 ordered a new one in 86 with a big block should have kept them awesome
I'm all good! I searched long and hard for this one
Man a car lot about 19yrs ago had three of those foresty trucks with 30k miles for $8,800 here in chattanooga tn
Wow! Would love to have seen those.
I just bought one a few months ago and had the hood pins also lol
So crazy! I’m gonna put then back in and run them.
May I suggest Toyo MT 255 85 16's.... those tires will handle the weight of that truck and they're a true 33.5in tall tire. I run those on a 79 K20 with a HEAVY all steel flatbed on it.
One step ahead of you! That's exactly what we put on it in this video.czcams.com/video/9Wt5B93rugA/video.html
@@UNITEDBYTRUCKS yeah I saw it on the next video lol
I very seldom see any of those generation Chevrolet & GMC crew cabs on the roads nowadays & the same thing with the Suburbans, but the regular cabs on the other hand I still see on the roads sometimes.
Yes sir!
I have a 86 c 30 duelly
I’m working on 👌
Awesome!
Nice truck I got a red 88
Ohhhh send me pics lol unitedbytrucks@gmail.com
calls it an ugly truck! its friggin beautiful nice seats!
haha for sure!
This guy must stick local. A single wheel crew cab 4 speed 4x4 is a dime a dozen in Missouri and Kansas. I’ve bought and sold more than I care to admit and I’m only 25.
Went from GA to TX for this one. Send me all you got to unitedbytrucks@gmail.com
I'd check the fuel filter and if it has filters near the tbi. That's if you keep it a long time before the dirtymax swap
Definitely will. We're replacing the whole fuel system this weekend because of all the rust in the tanks
Close..my dream truck would be a 4 door plus ext cab enough for bench seat that lays down for sleeper. Oh. And a Cummins 12valve
haha sweet!
I like the second truck on the first video I would buy that one
If it were 4x4 I would've. That's partially what makes this one so unique.
I think John Cowell has a couple of them as well. He is also in Texas, I want to say near Waxahachie.
Very cool! Good to know
Thanks for the Texas Squarebody video... I always say the place but never knew how to contact the owner... Thanks
Our pleasure!
It looks like the truck from the movie dantes peak the forest truck they find in the woods towards the end of the movie sweet truck
Ohhh sweet! I'll have to check that out
You said 4 speed & I was looking for the clutch pedal & shifter. I was disappointed when I didn't see it. It's a great looking & solid truck regardless. I'd love to have it myself.
Oh, man. Didn't mean to say that if I did. It's an auto and will likely get a 4l85 that's currently behind the LBZ in my van
NP. I've got my dad's 79 C20 Crew that he bought new. I was drooling over that V30 that you picked up. I've got all the CUCV stuff to convert mine but haven't pulled the trigger yet. Keep those videos rolling.
