  • It’s just afternoon when Andy Byler and a friend arrive at the Byler home. He shares the home with his pregnant wife Rebekah, and their two children.
At around 12:15 p.m., Byler walks into his living room finding his wife dead on the floor. After checking on his wife, Byler starts looking for his children and the friend calls police. The children are in the home, and unharmed.
Police cars lined Fish Flats Road, outside the Byler home. Rebekah Byler's death has been ruled a homicide. Authorities have not yet revealed how Byler was killed. Police say the crime does not look like a robbery as there’s no evidence that anything was taken from the home.
For now, there are no suspects or a motive.

I’ve noticed that too. She gets very emotional about that, as well as her twins, whenever anything involves children. She’s a savage when it comes to children. Sadly, I’m sure many of us can relate due to our own experiences. One can go through some very difficult and tragic experiences, when much younger, and things don’t always completely smack someone in the face until many years later. It can be therapeutic to finally express feelings about something very painful to one’s heart. Yes, she seems happily married BUT…this is still something very sad and tragic that she experienced and no one can take that away. It calls for sympathy/empathy…feeling compassion and sorrow and…if we can’t relate…we still try to put ourselves in the shoes of others. Nancy deals with it but she’s just never going to completely heal from it. It genuinely shattered her heart and took many years to marry and have children. We understand.

Most of the people on this are very God loving people. Very good people.
But there are ones that are amongst any group of people that are bad and hide that for fear of being shunned.
And as for the red Jeep there would be views on cameras right outside of their areas at the cities. Because it had to come from one direction or the other.
And periodically they do take in strangers people if they abide by their rules. And allow them to work for food and shelter while they're there. So that is another thing to look at.

I believe this was domestic... And having no phones, no cameras, no way to track anyone coming in or out... It's not going to be easy unless they have DNA or find the weapon...

That's personal someone very close to this woman caused her demise. Her children will have no one . Pitiful.

The community will adopt the children. They normally live in family groups.

The Amish dont bother anyone... You should never hear a story about them being killed... that let you know that we are in the end times. And the devil is loose everywhere.

Actually there is a lot of bad in the communities, it’s just handled by the men in charge and society never hears about it. Lots of incest, abuse, horrible animal abuse and neglect, etc.

Not true. Look up the high incidences of rape, molestation, inbreeding, and domestic violence within the community. They teach not to report things.

I feel like it’s probably the husband. You can’t tell me that if there was an outsider coming down the road they don’t know, they wouldn’t take care of them.

I mean.. Why aren't they checking the nearest townships for cameras also? This red jeep may have stopped for fuel, for food or just passed through, but even the outskirts of Amish country have cameras and ring cams!

They’ve arrested 3 people in connection with this case. I live in the area. Should be on the news by tomorrow sometime. It’s very sad and depressing. I know people who live on Fish Flats Road and the people arrested as well. Our town is very small. Only around 6K people, so everyone knows everyone or knows someone who knows them.

Hearbreaking!!! Thank yoy, Nancy for your attention to this case. I lived in Indiana, and saw buggies like this as a kid 60 years ago. They sold vegetables, and had the most radiant skin. Sweet people!

Don’t get your belief system from comments… the Amish are good and wholesome people with, LIKE ALL COMMUNITIES, some bad people.
