Thank you Jamerrill for sharing like you do. I can't have animals where I live, but you have inspired me to do a garden this year, and stuff actually has grown! And I also have started canning and long term food storage in mylar bags with buckets too. So thank you for sharing like you do and for being so inspirational and for always keeping it real ❤️🤗 My favorite quote from you...you do you and I will do me....love it...and love you lady ❤️ Thank you again ❤️
You can make your own oxygen obsorbers by buying silican kitty litter and using coffee filters to incase the silican . This will lower your costs dramtically for O2 OBSORBERS.I havent made them yet because I just watched the video
Just a thought, when you store the buckets, if you aren't using a shelve but are stacking them, you will need to use a board between the buckets. If you stack several heavy buckets on top of each other, the lids will eventually break, but if you place a board on top of a bucket and set the bucket on top of the board, it redistributes the weight from the thin lid to the sturdier bucket.
Although I will never do long term food storage because I am 81 and live alone these days, this is so informative and I have learned many things I never knew. Enjoying your vlogs immensely.
You may need to rethink that young lady. When my mom was 81 she still had 19 years that she had to eat, and she cooked and cleaned in her own house every day. These days I don’t know if that’s good news or bad news. Here’s wishing you many more happy and healthy years. 😊❤️🙏

Just remember Claudia that I always invest in help for myself. There is no way I do everything 100% on my own (although I do a lot 😆). In my business I now have about nine people who work for me in various ways. And my husband has been home full-time since 2013, and he helps me every day. You need to write the type of pasta on the label, like lasagnas, because you might need spaghetti and open a bucket with lasagna noodles. Some of the others are interchangeable but sometimes you just want a particular type noodle. Just a suggestion
Just a tip: You can always use rubbing(isopropyl) alcohol to take off permanent markers from plastic. I store broth in plastic liter containers and freeze them with written info (date and content) on the lid. Then when I use it up, I wash them and take an alcohol swab and wipe the lids clean.

Millet is another grain you can actually live on for a long time - very healthy grain - I prefer it already hulled and cook it the same way I do oatmeal - with milk/water. I put a little honey, butter and chopped dried fruits on top after it's cooked. I found a giant bag of it at our local discount store similar to your Sharp Shopper - GTM (San Diego). I invested in a Harvest Right freeze drier a couple years ago and built up a good emergency food stash. I love being able to buy a case of name brand yogurt at GTM for $2.40. You can freeze dry that into little drop or wafer shapes. Great snack. Freeze dried watermelon is amazing stuff - comes out like cotton candy. Most fruits are fantastic freeze dried. Freeze dried ice cream sandwiches are amazing.

I would go ahead and get a TON of pasta sauce! If things go south before you are finished getting all your supplies you would have sauce to make a meal. I also make meal buckets that include full meals (ex. canned hamburger, pasta sauce, pasta, can of green beans, spices or condiments) In an emergency that causes you to leave your home you could just grab those instead of trying to get individual items. They can also be used to share. If a family came to you for food you could just give them a prepared bucket and it would have everything they need.

I cannot tell you how much I appreciate the comparisons and totals regarding amounts of goods. You have just made everything so simple. I feel like I can easily grab a notebook and start doing calculations for my family now.. Thank you thank you thank you.
I don't hear anyone talk about people with food allergies/ sensitivities in prep. That's important to consider too. It definitely costs more, but worth every penny! Thank you for this video. 💕
Being able to watch this video while working was literally the only reason I was able to get together the motivation to watch the dishes tonight. My family thanks you for the kitchen not stinking and cockroaches not moving in to our house with us!
Girlfriend! As a new homesteader myself, thank you for these videos!!! We also have dreamed of having a homestead, and now that's becoming a reality and I'm just so thankful for your videos as I learn right along with you :)
Thank you, Jamerrill, for showing this...you make food storage buckets seem possible to do. I am going to get those books and hopefully give it a try. ❤
It's not hoarding when you are buying things your family uses and needs. Hoarders are the ones that just buy anything clearing the shelves and purchase things they won't even eat because they are panicked.
@@kokolatte825 😆 the magazine collection from the 80s they’ll never read again, or 14 years worth of empty coffee cans that ‘they might use one day’… that’s hoarding
My toddler was having a DAY, which means so was Mama. We were both relieved when bedtime came. I got the household stuff that I couldn't get done earlier (due to toddler) done. And I needed to sit down and unwind with a couple squares of chocolate, a cup of tea and my hero Mama, Jamerrill. Always a good reminder that if there are Mamas out there who have survived 8 kids, I'll probably pull through, too! Thanks, Sister Mama for always helping me gain perspective!
should look into getting a food dehydrator since your doing meat birds, you can make your own jerky with the meat that you have extra of, we have one and its amazing, family loves jerky but it can cost a lot, much cheaper to make, can also make dried fruit and veg for healthy snacks for winter when fruit is out of season.
It absolutely amazes me all that you are able to do in a day and still find time to read or study the Bible you are an inspiration!! The small good news with not having unpacked everything you now know that you probably don’t need it....lol thanks for all your videos please keep them coming!! 😊
Well, stuff that’s not unpacked are things like winter clothing and seasonal shoes, camping gear, books that we need to build bookshelves for, and upcoming things will need for our homeschool. We’ll be getting into those items soon.
Bucket storage is wonderful! I did have some of the painters tape come off after a few years. Switched to duck (duct) tape on the outside and none have come loose after 5 years so far. Thanks for sharing! Love watching your family :-)
Love these videos. It is amazing how much food is recommended for 1 person for a year. This is something that I am working towards to help with expenses when I retire and have less income.
Yes please do a video of the other stuff too. Like the wheat berries, etc that you mentioned. Thank you so much for sharing this. I find it more encouraging and useful to get started then the videos of those that have been doing it for a long time. The way you just get and idea and go for it as your learning so great. Thank you!!!
Im proud of you too! I really enjoyed this video. Im doing stuff smaller as in 1 gallon size or smaller. I am excited to do this. It really cures issues going on currently. Food storage is very similar to being debt free. It is real wealth. A pillar of Freedom.
You are doing a great job, and I so appreciate and 💘 hearing about large family meals and storage! I grew up oldest of 9 kids...and I know how it is. You're amazing!
Not sure if anyone has mentioned this or not but I used to work for a fast food chain and they get their dill pickles in 5 gallon buckets which are usually thrown away when empty. I had permission from my manager to take the empties home for free and used them for various purposes. Perhaps that is an option to be looked into by you or some of your viewers with the surrounding restaurants in your area. Never hurts to ask. You would have to clean them well to get the pickle smell out but hey, free buckets ya know? Hope this is helpful.
Another two items I freeze are chocolate chip morsels. Also shelled walnuts and pecans. I buy large bags so keep them in the freezer. Nuts don't turn rancid and morsels don't melt if it gets hot. You can take out enough for a recipe and put rest right back in freezer. Thaw them at room temperature.
Thank you! I've developed pantry moths and they are the bane of my existence. I have my walnuts and other nuts in well sealed containers but I worry about my baking chips. Going to freeze them!
Jamerill, several things I would like to mention: 1) you can make your own brown sugar with just white sugar and molasses, easier!, 2) you can make your own powdered sugar by blending your regular sugar in a blender til fine. That is two things you don't have to worry about. , 3) very important to know how to use your wheat! That is a whole 'nother ball game. I am assuming you have white wheat (which tastes very different from red wheat, which is what I have). It will last almost forever in your storage and there are a lot of things you can make with it. One book that is easy to use and I recommend is by Crystal Godfrey called I can't believe it's food storage. She also has a blog and makes wonderful bread with her whole wheat kernels. There are, of course, many more resources but hers are very easy. Enjoy your journey!
I really enjoy the food storage videos! Although I watch any and all your videos! I just love you to pieces hands down you are the genuine real deal!!! God bless you and your family
I'd like to offer that you seal 3/4 of the way crosstop. Then insert oyx absorber get vacuum hose insert. Sucking air thru vaccum then in lay on metal rod no wrinkles and seal last 1/4 at an angle. That you can open small slits vs cutting tops off. Hold bag around hose tube otherwise you may need 2 -100 absorbers with all that air by volume
You can leave the pasta in the original bags inside the mylar. Just cut the corner off of the top of the original bag so the air can suck out. Then stick the bags in there in such a way that the open corners are not blocked. That way you have an extra layer of material to protect your mylar.
Jamerrill you have the right idea about how to store the food. We may never need all the food but I have a feeling we will all go on lockdown again the fall or winter. I was just talking to my family about getting some food stored up. You are doing a wonderful job. I definitely trust the Lord through it all though.
Consider LTS in much smaller sizes for all the spices you use regularly for meals. I also take things like Knorr rice and pasta mixes, poke pin holes in each bag. Add an assortment to large mylar with O2 absorber and put in bucket. Box pasta salad mixes can be done the same way. Another I put up is Instant mashed potatoes, box mac and cheese, dry gravy mixes, pankcake/waffle mix/muffin mix... I could list a ton more.
Michelle, are you poking a hole in the mix bags for the O2 absorber to work? I was wanting to store those premade mixes but was unsure about a proper way to do it. Thanks
So you leave the Mac and cheese in its box and poke holes in it? And the mashed potatoes do you dump those out and as o2 absorber? I’m so confused by all this long term storage but am thinking I should probably figure it out!!
This new method answers a couple of questions I had. The straightener both allows for a smoother seal, preventing any small channels of potential air leaks, and sealing the end allows for opening an resealing/reuse. I'd say, unless told otherwise, it's a great option.
I love watching your videos. I have been waiting for some update on your baby.. March 11, 2021. I’ve seen 2 video notifications but no video. Thank you for all you do... you are an inspiration!!
I don't have a large family like yourself but I am learning a few things about the long tearm food storage and I been working on mine food storage so I like the tips I am learning and your views also are sharing.
I've done this for years but need much less food stored now with 3 of us than when all 9 kids were home. It's always good to have it!!!!! Btw I'm not LDS but they are an excellent resource for this...they teach long term food prep/storage!!
I've just now found your videos today! I've been watching you now for about 6 hours or so, thank you for sharing your life. As for your buckets, I think I would add a scoop in each bucket just to have one handy for when you have to get into the buckets. I love watching you and all the kids. I even called my sister to and was telling her all about you. Keep up the good work!
Baking powder is a combination of baking soda and cream of Tartar. If you long term store those two things you can always make bakin powder. One tablespoon of soda to two tablespoons of tartar.
Yeah, I brought up the hair straightener in the first buckets you did💕 Lot of comments though. I've have yeast in my freezer that is in the Costco vacuum bricks you can get that expired in 2013, unopened . Once I open the brick, I put some in a container and keep it in the fridge then put the rest in canning jars and put it back in the freezer. It's still good. I'm using it now. It's surprising how long it's good. Those hair straighteners are the thing to use 😊
I love these videos, we live out in the bush and I’m trying to get at least a month of food storage going. It’s hard to start and actually keep the food, each time I do it we end up eating everything and stuck with no food again 😩
Great vid! Just a note…you could leave your pasta in the plastic bags..if u wanted to cut the top to open it to allow the oxygen absorber to do it job, that’s ok too. Just cut the top off of your bag and set it into the bucket. This will be additional protection against rips in your Mylar bag and strengthens your preps😉
Tape a straw to the end of a vacuum. Seal 98% of the bag. Insert the straw and turn vac on to suck the air out. Slowly pull straw out and seal as you go keeping the vacuum on. Works great!

You can also use your hair straightener to make a tarp into a bag so it snuggly fits around something.
I’m loving all the food storage! I need this and am slowly working on building my own food storage
I am proud of you for learning it, for jumping in - and thankful for you sharing with us! 💜
Its not hoarding when you are preparing for your family's future. I habe that book also!
Yes, thank you. And when you’re responsible for many people and the lives of others. ❤️
It's not hoarding when you're a large-family mom!
Which one do you have?
I’m processing 22 birds tomorrow. Might have to add jerky to the mix. Good idea.
I truly enjoy your videos so much. I don’t know anyone else who provides such simple, helpful info! ❤️
I just really like using this hair straightener. That is the reason....I can relate to this statement!
Thankyou. I've learned a BUNCH! Been dry canning some items, but buckets are what I'll try soon! You work so hard sweetie!
Girl you are on it I’m so proud of you!
You are such a hard working woman, I am inspired, thank you so much, God bless you all
I love these long term food storage videos. I can’t wait to see your food storage room!
You are such a great teacher, I watched the entire video and yes I enjoyed the bucket storage videos.
I received my copy of the Prepper's Pantry today. I love it. Also, rubbing alcohol will remove permanent markers from five gallon buckets.
In addition to the items you've mentioned, I've put up a good variety of dehydrated vegetables, powdered butter, powdered eggs, and spices.
Love these videos because I learn new things every time. Thank you for sharing and I hope you and your family are staying safe xx
Just wanted you to know that I think you are precious and courageous.(caring for 10 little ones). From NW TN
I think you have done a great job & your husband is fantastic. He really jumped in & got things done.
Amazing! Thank you for sharing your ideas & wisdom (again)❤️
Very, very smart idea for your large family. Like the items you are storing. Thank you for sharing.
I am getting stuff to do long term storage, thanks for showing use how to do it. I know I appreciate it. 🤩
When you said I’m not a noodle hoarder I laughed out loud-
You can leave the pasta in the original bags inside the mylar. Just cut the corner off of the top of the original bag so the air can suck out. Then stick the bags in there in such a way that the open corners are not blocked. That way you have an extra layer of material to protect your mylar.
Will this work for rice also?
Jamerrill you have the right idea about how to store the food. We may never need all the food but I have a feeling we will all go on lockdown again the fall or winter. I was just talking to my family about getting some food stored up. You are doing a wonderful job. I definitely trust the Lord through it all though.
Thank you so much for all the information!! I am definitely going to start some research into this.
Very helpful to see someone new doing it. Thanks. Some of us are learning along the way too!
I was lucky enough to get a lot of 3.5 gal (food grade) buckets FREE from the bakery at our local grocery store as well as a few 2 gal ones.
Can you fit a 20 pound bag of beans in a 3 gallon bucket?
Like your bucket storage videos the fact that you're learning helps me since I have never tried this either
This new method answers a couple of questions I had. The straightener both allows for a smoother seal, preventing any small channels of potential air leaks, and sealing the end allows for opening an resealing/reuse. I'd say, unless told otherwise, it's a great option.
Yes, love the long term storage videos! Helpful and encouraging:)
I really appreciate you making this video!!
Love all your videos! Find myself praying for them!
I love watching your videos. I have been waiting for some update on your baby.. March 11, 2021. I’ve seen 2 video notifications but no video. Thank you for all you do... you are an inspiration!!
I love these food storage videos. I have a small family - but it still gives me great ideas. Keep them coming. 😊
I don't have a large family, but I enjoy watching your family adventures. You remind me of my sister and it's fun to watch.
Yes, sweet lady, I sure do enjoy these videos, but I love all of your videos:) Thank you for teaching us. I appreciate you!
A helpful Tip I found, Label the outside of the buckets using the large poster sized stick on black lettering from The Dollar Tree.
I don't have a large family like yourself but I am learning a few things about the long tearm food storage and I been working on mine food storage so I like the tips I am learning and your views also are sharing.
These videos are how I found you! Thank you!
I’m lovin these videos. Looking forward to the next video. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us 😀
I've done this for years but need much less food stored now with 3 of us than when all 9 kids were home.
I enjoy your long term storage videos. Thank you for sharing with us
Baking powder is a combination of baking soda and cream of Tartar.
So enjoyable to watch you do this. Amazing and interesting. All your videos are just great.
Thank you for sharing, you always inspire me to be more organised in preparing for my family 😁
I love these videos. Thank you for showing us how to do this!!!!
Fantastic loved watching this 🤗 blessings from Australia
I love the food storage prepping! Yes please show the wheat berries, etc. You are so knowledgeable!
As always ❤️❤️ you and your family I enjoy watching you do your food buckets and much much more
I’m loving these videos. It’s fascinating.
Tape a straw to the end of a vacuum. Seal 98% of the bag. Insert the straw and turn vac on to suck the air out. Slowly pull straw out and seal as you go keeping the vacuum on.
Works great!
Well done! So happy for you! 🎉💞 God Bless!
Love these long-term storage videos!
I love prepping videos I am also doing prepping please keep showing us
Amazing 😉 I learn something new every time you upload a video. Thank you for your brilliant knowledge. God bless you and enjoy your weekend.
