Don't worry! I cried after searching for a new pair of jeans at 8 weeks pp. Two or three weeks later I finally fit into a high waist skinny pair. Your body is still recovering; the belly will go down on its own! Focus on your baby, they DO grow up so fast. It's the weight that is left after six months that is a bit worrying because I cannot pretend that it will go down on its own as well 🤣

My body has changed SO much from 8wks pp to 7mo pp, I just went shopping yesterday and it was so helpful finding things that made me feel better about myself! Give yourself some time and patience, it took 9 months to grow that precious little person, it takes at least that long for most women to reach their new normal body! 💕

I’m not, nor have I ever been pregnant, but this is how I lost 40lbs. Most of it was intuitive eating and NOT counting calories. I’m so glad you’re feeling better!!
I couldn’t do it alone, I saw a dietitian which really helped. She taught me about intuitive eating, not overeating and listening to your body cues. Thank you for keeping it real. There is no secret to weight loss, it’s really just eating great things for your body 😊

I am 23 weeks pregnant and the first 20 weeks I didn't exercise or try to eat healthy and now I'm starting to feel miserable, and still have 17 weeks to go! The last 3 weeks I have been walking an hour a day and trying to eat healthier options for most of my meals. My doctors keep telling me my weight gain is completely fine, but I know my body and I am way off track. I want to have a healthier lifestyle for when my daughter is born. I want to feel good and be in shape so I can have fun with my kids and be the best mom I can be! So thank you for sharing your story! This is so important!! Alex I love your honesty and openness here! You look fantastic but, more importantly, you are healthy to take care of sweet Julian! I am 7 weeks PP and back in my jeans at 6 weeks ONLY because I kept my exercise routine (with modifications) and eating style while pregnant and drank 100-125 ounces of water a day! I gained the healthy 25-35 pounds (for my body). At 41 weeks pregnant I still felt pretty good... I wasn't swollen (compression socks helped because I teach and was on my feet all day) or horribly miserable. Guys, people don't tell you this stuff.. exercise and what you eat makes a difference!! You can't "eat for two" because you're really not. It's only in the 2nd and 3rd trimester that you should increase calories and that's only 200-300 per day (that's like adding 1 snack). I've had so many people tell me I don't even look like I had a baby and blah blah... it's not because I'm "lucky" it's because I prepared pre-pregnancy!

Thank you so much for sharing this!!! It is go great to hear that you feel yourself again. Although I do not have a baby, I am in my twenties and want a family one day as well. So many women I know are still struggling with postpartum body image issues and seeing how positive you are is so amazing and uplifting and it honestly makes me feel so much more optomistic about having my own kids one day 💗

Alex I just want to say this, I have followed you and Michael for a long time now, I still thought you were so beautiful, the video when you introduced Julian to us I will never forget. I cried! You are such an amazing woman and it was such a learning experience for you. I can totally relate about how you feel being healthy and watching what you eat and how it makes you feel. It's certainly part of loving and nurturing yourself. I just want to say your journey has helped me in some ways too. Thank You for this video and for being YOU!

I like more talks like this where you can talk like we're friends! Its a bummer people are so sensitive and you have to put a disclaimer ever 5 minutes. I had my first baby 3 weeks after you and I am still working on losing weight, but it was more weight that I actually had pre-pregnancy, not so much that I gained during. Thanks for being so open and authentic!

I love your approach. I actually got pressured not to lose weight. I just took it slowIy. I refuse to fall for the notion that becoming a mom means you have to resign yourself to being unhealthy and unhappy with your body. MOMS HAVE THE RIGHT TO BE HAPPY AND HEALTHY. Don’t let anyone make you feel guilty for that. Our kids are counting on us to be the best version of ourselves, whatever it is that gets us there.

Yes i agree Alex 💚i can not believe your doctor lead you astray. My doctor kept a line graphic in my patient file and every weigh-in and appointment I would get a lecture about “do this not that” and he would give me a short term goal of what weight range to stay in by next Appt. He would say “your at +5lbs no more than +2lbs for next check up. He was so diligent in the weight aspect. He was always soo clear no woman should gain more than 20-25lbs. With my first son i gained 17lbs and my second son 23lbs. I think bottom line is the doctor put you at risk. And ultimately this probably played a factor in your drastic labor and delivery.

This really helps! I’m a mom of 2 and I just had my 2nd child in October 2018. I gained so much weight and I was at my heaviest after having him. (I started off heavy from summer bbq’s and beer) I remember being ready to get healthy and lose weight right before finding out I was pregnant. After him I was 200+ lbs. since October I’m down 40+ lbs! I didn’t start losing weight until January 2019. (my New Years resolution) I’ve been doing keto and working out 4-5 days a week. I’m so glad you made this video because I was starting to lose motivation from constantly weighing myself and starting to have more cheat days than I should. This is going to help me get back on track and stay motivated to being a healthier mommy! Thank you!!

Currently 30 weeks and have gained 9lbs so far. Doesn’t sound like much but I’m 5ft and started off 135 pre pregnancy. I was a bit overweight before and I’m worried I won’t go back to a comfortable weight. You gave me the peace of mind to know that I can & I will. I will put this video in my favorites and use it as soon as baby pops out lol Thank you.

This is a great message about how to make good healthy choices for weight management, even if someone is not pregnant or who has not just had a baby. Nowadays, everyone is obsessed with being “skinny” and following fad diets that are impossible to follow long term. What you’re saying, eating real whole food, is the best way to be in control of your health. Aside from maybe losing weight, you’re also learning how to be a healthier version of you, which is the primary reason everyone should make conscious decisions about what they eat. Being perfect with your “diet” is not attainable, but having a mindset that doesn’t force you to be obsessed with what you’re eating, how much you’re eating, how much you weigh, is the BEST mindset a person could have. You are amazing and thank you for talking about this. ♥️♥️
