.Magnetic filters are good, I've been using Kase system for a while and it's so easy to use :-)

The first thing I did was loose the magnetic lens cap.... Its probably stuck to the boot lid of a Nissan Qashqai somewhere :-( Thanks for the great videos Barry

Freewell or whatever no thanks! I'll just screw on my brass Polar Pro filters. They are awesome and worth every penny, I even use their UV filters as well since they are the only UV filters that have Nikon like flourine coating that repels dust, dirt, water, oils, etc. I love their filters and by the way this magnetic filter trick is NOT new or groundbreaking. It's been done and done okay for years by other brands that also probably suck compared to high-end round screw on filters.

Hi Patrick have you used the Freewell Filters? how do they compare to polar Pro? thanks.

@@BarryMountford No and that’s the point of my post, I wouldn’t dare. My main point was this is NOT new or a game changer. These magnetic filters have been around for years and they suck. At least compared to premium/professional grade filters. These smaller CZcams people constantly get sent products to review. Most are crap or Chinese junk, but people still review them. If you spend $100 or more on a filter, you’ll be okay. Obviously there are great filters for less or slightly used filters for less, but lots of companies make great filters. Nikon even makes great UV/NC and CPL filters. I have one 82mm Nikon NC filter on my 24-70mm f/2.8 VR. I even have and use the CPL-405 a 40.5mm drop-in filter in my 500mm f/4E VR FL. It’s great for everything from surfing to air shows, or cutting reflections down. It was expensive at $250 but it was worth it to me. Not everyone feels the same way. Generally though don’t buy no-name or Chinese crap. Almost always a waste of time and or money!

@@patricksmith2553 I have to disagree, I have used B+W filters for years top quality and I only agreed to review these freewell filters as I had quality to compare them against so I had a standard to compare, I only agree to review if I think it’s a good product and I can say that this is a good product, so to jump in with comments of how rubbish a product is without trying it yourself is a little strange, I do however agree that lesser quality goods are available but I can assure you I wouldn’t do a review on those items.

@@BarryMountford I can respect that and I do believe you. I just still prefer to pay a premium and get a filter that I know 100% will not hurt resolution, has excellent transmission if it’s UV/NC or no color shifts, etc. Magnetic filters are not new or game changing unless your shoot video maybe? You never address that point I’ve made. I believe you like these products and I absolutely take you at your word. I get you too but review products that you want to, but I’m no idiot and I know how CZcams works. I don’t have buy and drive a Ford Pinto to tell you it’s a piece of shit and may catch fire with you inside of it. Do I? So I can sorta say no-name filters are most likely a bad idea.
Never heard of this company unless they also make 4K external monitors? Freewell? Or whatever? Anyways I don’t disagree, generally you should not give advice on gear you have never tested. I can appreciate the sentiment. However again, you don’t have to always try or buy something to know it’s not for you. Or not as high quality as what you probably already have! All of my filters are Nikon or Polar Pro. I have a Leica 77mm UVa as well and it has 99.9% transmission. I got it for only $100 in open box condition, they are about $300 usually?
I’ve used B+W and they are pretty good, just not for me either. I will say though the Polar Pro filters suck in that they are too wide diameter wise and prevent most lens hoods from attaching with the filter in-place. So you have to choose filter or lens hood and that does suck. Outside of that though…I’m good, I’ll pass on magnetic no-name or third party China crap. There is a garbage dump a few miles away, never been there, but 100% can promise you it smells really bad there. Do I need to travel to Tijuana to see or know there is crime or poverty there? See where I am going or thinking? You’re not wrong, but I maybe not wrong either. People may agree with me and my views as much as they might trust you. I am not here to brag to say who I work for, or what awards I’ve won. I have 25 years experience and I know from making a few bad budget buys, that most of this crap third party stuff…is just that, crap. Don’t need to buy or test it to tell you that. Anyways I didn’t mean to seem like a jerk and I do get where you’re coming from. I’m happy that you’re happy. Whatever floats your boat or makes you happy. I like Nikon, you like Canon, whatever. It’s not personal.

@@patricksmith2553 Having bad experiences from unknown manufacturers will no doubt put off folk for sure but third party brands ( we will call them third party brands as they are not main stream yet) have come such a long way and the level of quality has improved dramatically, so its worth presenting these products if they are worthy so consumers have a good choice. everyone has there own opinion which is great, I think regarding the lens hoods when using these filters which has alway been a pain! the magnetic system should incorporate magnetic lens hoods a simple solution to a problem that has been around for years. Showcasing products like these and having these conversations can help solve these problems if the manufacturers take on board the comments from users of their products which is where new products are born from, which is always a plus.
