    Great idea! I've been thinking about this for years that it would greatly allow farmers to overcome the limitations of the small built in grain tanks on combines, and a simple way of increasing efficiency without increasing labor costs. It would be great if Combine and Cart manufacturers would work together to create a more unified system. Possibly use hydraulic system? Have the combine act as a generator and just send electrical power to run accessory cart auger? So many options!

    • @nigelft
      @nigelft Před 2 lety

      @@drmyronbouray
      Four years later ...
      That's what I thought as well, hence why I'm not too fond of single axle trailers ...
      If you can extend the length of the cart enough, you could fit twin axles, or, go crazy, and fit that rubber track system, with 'three wheels' - drive 'sprockets' - you see on some really large grain shuttle carts ...
      Another thing I was thinking of, is the chaff generated. Some combines use a system where the chaff/straw, is fed directly into the baler, avoiding it having to pick up the chaff/straw off of the ground, and reducing ash intake.
      It will mean moving the drive engine somewhere else, and possibly dual fuel tanks, between two wheels at the front, and two-four behind, on portal axles, with a shock system that allows the cart, to adjust the terrain, avoiding the chute being scraped across the ground, especially at the rear, feeding into the bailer, with the baler large enough to also wrap on the go, continuously, without stopping.
      I also had the insane idea of fitting a Sherbourne CVT header on the front, that just collects the grain off. With the extra capacity, of the grain cart, plus the baler to compact, and wrap, any chaff, you can then use no plowing/tilling farming, with the straw as weather protection, to a degree ...
      ... or, use a self-propelled baler, with a swather head set to leave 3" stubble behind, that can equally wrap continously, without stopping ...
      ... if all that can be done in a single pass ...
      ... but what the hell do I know about farming machinery ...

      @erienwhite Před 7 lety +1

      Jarod997. That is a rotary screen. It helps to keep dirt out of the radiator and oil coolers and sometimes helps to filter the engine's air intake. Most combines have it on the side instead of being top mount.

    Very Clever way to add grain carrying! One thing I wondering is, How do you discharge the grain from the Combines unload auger into the collection bin of the cart when the combine auger is in the stowed position? I thought the combine unloading auger Had to be out to the side for the grain to unload? As for the 2017 FS game doing it, nice thought for a mod maker to try? However there is a couple of modded combines already have ways around the amount of grain carried! One uses a arm on the left side which tows a big grain trailer on the left just under the unload auger and another combine by "Eagle355th" on Modland.com has a super capacity of 250.000 Litres so you have to have a super big field to need it to unload? Plus he done a grain trailer ( a CAT one ) which holds 100.000 Litres of almost all goods! He does allot of great mods for both 2015 & 2017 games there? So in a way it been done on FS 2017 but in another way?

      And unless you are a really high dollar operation, it might be cheaper to just have two tractors running grain carts.

      I don't know the specific number. I rode with the farmer for a little bit and he was filling the Balzer1550 cart as fast as it came back from the end of the field. If I cross paths with him again during harvest, I may shoot another video to answer some follow up questions.

      Myron Bouray ours was an 18 row corn head on 20 inch rows with a crappy grain cart driver and a 1300 bushel cart. Just wondering if this is necessary or even worth the cost considering the variables.

      @john mcgee I’m talking from experience ours couldn’t pull its comb trailer up a hill we had to unhook it and the grain cart would be heavier then the comb trailer

  • @crazyhass84

    Cart and combine wheels r too small to reduce compaction. The huge grain cart and tractor were still driving all over the field... causing compaction. Good idea,poor execution.
    Get a grain cart on tracks is cheaper than messing around like this.

    What a waste of resources that would put an enormous strain on the combine drives pulling that not to mention in muddy conditions why not do it right just use a larger cart behind your tractor

    • @aldenh9560
      @aldenh9560 Před 7 lety

      Oh yea real smart if you think nothing will ever happen sooner when you need to get the crop harvested without a break down just because its new doesn't mean its bullet proof not to mention maybe getting your manufacture warranty voided by subjecting the machine to early failure

      It wasn't the objective to run the towed grain cart at full capacity (so he's not putting maxium strain all day). It mainly serves as overflow for when the combine hopper overfills. Even with a larger cart behind the tractor, he still has to stop harvesting if the tractor is still unloading at the other end of the field. Also, its hard to get unloaded when first opening up a field since the tractor can't pull along side. I have some related questions as well and I told the farmer I would get him some free aerials if we did a follow-up video this year. Subscribe and stay tuned for the upcoming harvest.

    • @aldenh9560
      @aldenh9560 Před 7 lety +2

      I'm not saying its not an ingenius invention and has some advantages in Ideal conditions But in reality harvest conditions are not ideal and also no matter what brand combine you use its premature wear and potential break down plus extra fuel costs pulling more weight and running the grain cart motor also I would review your manufacture warranty concerning add-on equipment to make sure you don't have any surprises if you break an axle or damage the ground drive system

    Why? You still apparently need a grain cart. More parts, more problems. This is stupid. It's why the Tribine never went anywhere.

    • @MrJaiimez
      @MrJaiimez Před 3 lety

      Maybe you have limited staff, or limited tractors. Although I wonder how significant the extra weight is on the combines engine load and therefore how much slower it is harvesting.

    • @farmerbill6855
      @farmerbill6855 Před 3 lety

      @@MrJaiimez If you can afford a 16 row lexion, I don't think staffing or a lack of tractors is going to be any of your problems. Around here, they just chase those things with two carts.
