    I happen to be totally blind, and I absolutely love this oven and meal service. Because one thing you didn’t mention is that you can also pull up each meal in your order history, just in case you can’t see to scan a barcode. The reason this current model has more buttons is for accessibility reasons. But anyways, if you pull up a specific meal in your order history, you can access the preparation instructions and everything within the app, without even scanning the barcode. You simply pull up the meal, hit the cook button, and it’ll program the oven automatically, just as though you scan the barcode. By the way, that little clip in there with the kid is pretty funny.

      @@notaperson6160 it might surprise you to know the computers are actually jammed packed with accessibility features. Screen readers are very common. They will read out the contents of the screen to you, as well as what you're typing.

    • @ryanmiller3020

      @@notaperson6160 when I use my iPhone, I use a screen reader that is integrated into the operating system, and it’s called voiceover. It converts what you see on the screen into speech, so that I can hear what’s happening. So if I touch a part of the screen, it’ll tell me what I’m touching. But thanks to Apple, that screen reader is available for macOS, iOS, iPadOS, tvOS, watchOS, and even the HomePod. And the folks at Tovala we’re clearly thinking of people with disabilities when they came up with this. As for you were thinking of being rude, it’s a perfectly legitimate question. Better to ask than to remain ignorant. So please. Go right ahead and ask your questions.

    • @notaperson6160

      @@ryanmiller3020 how do you even know what/where to press when you use a screen reader? I'm certain you memorize a buttons location after the first time you find it, but how do you even know where to look when navigating a new web page or app?

    • @paulschmit6774
      @paulschmit6774 Před 3 lety +5

      Just got my first Tovala shipment. I would disagree that the portions are plenty. In the chicken and broccoli with tahini sauce dish, for example, the chicken breast was just 5.25 ounces. Smaller than you would typically find at the grocery. There was only 4 ounces of broccoli florets. I'm only a 160 lb guy, and it was not nearly enough. And I have a salad with this. Cost wise, these meals are about triple what it would cost at the grocery. Here's an example: At my local grocery (Giant Food, East coast) i can buy 12 oz of broccoli florets for for $3.99 (33 cents/oz), 1.5 pounds of chicken breasts for $8.99 (39 cent/oz). Have to buy a whole jar of tahini for $7.99 (50 cents an ounce). . Now admittedly I would have to spend $20.97 to buy the stuff for just a single meal as Giant doesn't sell one chicken breast lol or just an ounce of tahini. But I have enough to make at least three meals, which brings my cost to about $7 (these are approximations so don't judge my math) . And I'll still have some tahini left over for next time. If you have the money to spare, the meals are certainly convenient and tasty, but I will be making my own. BTW, while the oven does produce "steam" in the pure definition of the word, be aware that it's really more just water vapor to keep the air moist. It is not what you would see coming from an iron.

    $12 for a small meal is not a good deal plus I just checked and there was a delivery charge of $10 each time - not free as this review says. Maybe this is ok for a single person or a couple with long/different work hours but for a family much too expensive. Im surprised you didnt use the Eggo waffles and scan for the breakfast. I really would like to find a review of all the things you can scan and cook as thats more relevant to me for a meal service (cant have things stood outside for hours in the Arizona summer no matter how well they are packed) along with ALL that packing waste also. Thanks for the review.

    It's nice if you've never used a steam oven before and but their meals that are about $12 each for one person. I agree it's not too expensive compared to other meal services... But those are expensive.
    Did you have issues with toast being uneven, and other foods cooking more on the right than the left with the fan on the side?
    The kiss of death for me was a 10" pizza will press on the door and on the back on the oven... Needs to be a little deeper.
    I preferred the Sharp SuperSteam oven, though that has reliability issues.
    Can't wait for the Anova Precision Oven.

      Thanks for the feedback here! Tovala is really geared toward busy folks and I'd happily pay a premium for NOT having to make something like Hello Fresh - the prep and cooking was just too much for us.
      As for the even-ness, ours cooks pretty evenly. It 10 is perfect, I'd say it's a 7.5 - the right is the side we see more cooking, but only when cooking something things like a pizza that has to be 100% even. We don't see it burning any other food items or anything crazy like that.
