long live JAH SHAKA SINCE 1979 my first dance in Southall REAL RASTA BLESSINGS ALWAYS RESPECT TO THE ORIGNAL SOUND MAN , A QUOTE NOT ONE MAN CAN BREAK DOWN THE WALLS OF BABYLON WE MUST ALL UNITE.
THE One And Only JAH SHAKA. Humble, yet terrifying. Proud to say I consistently listened to SHAKA since about 1977 till early 90's, and occasionally beyond. Precedence set. Roots sound system conqueror. Period
Yes cubies Shaka v Quaker city also Jah tubbys v Quaker city! Not forgetting phebes Amhurst road Shaka resident sound downstairs! Real vibes them days!!!
No matter what anyone wants to say shaka always led the way from beginning to his end the true king of dub when other sounds were running dub with the calling up of the sound name he just played roots and culture style and the dubs with his name in it were one away long live the king
Gwarn Shaka!!!! The Windrush Generation brought to our cold, flat, wet, just horrific culture something so special. I dread to think how Terrible the UK would be without the soundsystem culture of Jamacia.

Only one sound who could of match jah shaka for dub who one all the gold cup in dem times was sir coxsone sound the best sound ina England at the time.
As anyone who was there will testify, 80gold cup was a fix, Shaka mash down Acton town hall with Jah give I power and Gussie Mr boss man mixes but judges dem no see it this way (rodigan, barnard and count shelley)...never seen such a reaction in sound system, everybody know say Shaka win that night.
It's not a Shaka production, black brothers actually, produced by Bredda Kingsley. Shaka just held some cuts and then went on to release the ras imru vocal and dub on his label...without appropriate agreement hence why it has never been reissued on Shaka label. The raw pieces with the slightly different baseline from Shaka release are the real killer cuts and now proper rare.
Jah Shaka...big respect...heavyweight sound system..too much distortion and feedback,to be ranked among the best sounds COXSONE, FATMAN, SUFFERER..From back in the day...and even the current crop ie ABA SHANTI, CHANNEL ONE, JAH YOUTH, sound better with better dubs..
You're absolutely right about the distortion. But that's what is unique about Jah Shaka. My cousins sound system ( Stereograph) at that time was way heavier in the baseline area and crystal clear. When it comes down to dub plates, there's no sound system in England can beat Shaka.
@@richardcopeland5934 I agree with you use to follow Sufrano B, Bali hi every Sunday and blues dances Villa road all round Brixton area. Then they changed to Stereograph much heavier and cleaner Coxone couldn't bully them like before. Then they came to Jamaica Comfort Manchester where I am now as Destiny wicked sound, bussed people like Garnet Silk, Tony Rebel, Uton Green and many more. Use to go school with Chabba Youth Beaufoy Boys in Kennington.
