I'd love to see a video of Steve explaining drivetrain loss to calculate FWHP! Every aftermarket company seems to be using large and larger percentages to show bigger numbers.
From listening to Gale Banks from Banks Performance, he says that drivetrain loss was 20% when engines were making 250 HP. And that modern drivetrain also still only loses about 40 to 50HP.
So drivetrain loss should be a small range like 40-50hp, and the percentage would be based on how much power the car is making minus the small range.

Actually, HJS Motorsport (German) claims they make a downpipe that complies with the latest Euro 6d emissions standards. I think I understand your point though, it's all about diminishing returns. If I get it, it's better to have a lower powered "bullet proof" engine that can, if I may use the analogy, run and complete a 24h race as fast as possible. Love the green colour, my favourite.
Will the OTA BMW software updates clear the tune back to factory? If so, do you have to pay to have it re-tuned again?

I have a g82 and Im looking for some power, for everything that carbahn offers it void’s factory warranty? Because I would love to get downpipes and a tune. But obviously I wouldn’t want to void my warranty. What would you recommend.

Hey Steve, why does the 6mt stage 1 tune make less power than the G80comp stage 1? I was under the impression that the engines were the same just with different factory tuning.
Hey there, sorry for the late reply. The tunes are pretty much identical, but there is less drivetrain loss for the RWD than the xDrive. Where are you seeing "less power" so we can look into that further?
@@carbahnofficial No worries. I was comparing the tunes for the Base G80 vs the Competition (I have a G87 coming) and noticed the power after tuning is lower on the Base. I was wondering why that would be since the engine in both is supposedly identical. But actually I think Steve actually addressed my man concern in the G87 video, the ZF8 can handle more torque than the Manual transmission. Keep up the great work, I will probably get the stage 1 after a few months.
@@fcman123 This is true! The manual unfortunately cannot handle stage 2 at the moment. We are working on a solution with a proper clutch that can handle the additional power.
That being said, the base and the comp should be the same after tune. Are you positive you're not looking at 93 octane vs 100 octane graphs?
@@carbahnofficial The stage 1 Evo Tune 93oct on the website for the G80/82 Base shows 557 Wheel HP & 519 lb-ft Wheel torque, G80/82 Comp shows 604 Wheel HP & 559 lb-ft Wheel torque. Similar differences for the Performance controller Stage 1 as well, 497WHP (Base) vs 561 WHP (Comp RWD) on 93oct

Confusion going on, here. @0:40 you get a popup that says "Correction" AWHP/TQ. If you're using the AWHP calculations, this car is a base manual, I know the owner. And although the engine modifications may be the same, the transmission has taller gears.
