Surfed here in the 70s with Terry Stephens, Denis Pitman, (totally fearless, would take off on anything), Ron Oppenshaw, John Hendy and John White + Young Bishop from Mullion. When the bars were right it was good. Not sure I've ridden anything that broke as hard as Pentreath did. It was a total secret back then. 50 years ago?? Seems like last week. It was always a bit sketchy getting down even in those days.
I surf too, it's an amazing break, often seems cleaner than I would expect for a West facing break. The sand bars move a lot but sometimes there is a nice friendly slow break other times a fast heavy one like you say and other times you might get both on the same wave! You do always have to keep one eye looking forward for pieces of shipwreck though!
