Avidyne IFD Training: Flying an OBS Radial off a WPT

In this video, we are comparing the GNS530/W and the IFD550, showing how you would program and fly to a waypoint and then outbound on a specificed radial.
In this example, we are using the GNS530W PC trainer and the IFD550 Trainer App on iPad to demonstrate. You can see how the IFD's Geofill and OBS features reduce keystrokes and simply the operation.

Cool feature. I wondered how I would fly a radial from an airport that does not have a VOR on the field. In the simulator, if I enter the airport as the origin, then enter the same airport again as a waypoint, then activate the flight plan and press OBS, the simulator will fly indefinitely on whatever outbound radial is set. I haven't tested this yet in the airplane.

Yes, you can fly an OBS "radial" off of any GPS waypoint with the IFD.
