They be wanting you to put extra toppings just to charge more every time they add a condiment on it. They be wanting to build up your Hotdog as if they buying it or eating it for you as well.
Finding a hot dog vendor who actually listens to your order seems harder than finding a needle in a haystack...

That second cart not only did it look like yesterday’s hotdogs but I don’t think he refrigerated anything overnight. It looked like it was legit sitting in that water all night. Same probably for the onions and sauerkraut.

There are a few good ones. They are privately owned not rented as most are. The only way I have found to tell the difference is the way the carts are set up. Telltale signs are the same type of cart with the same signage, similar carts within an area & same food choices. The privately owned ones always have stand out unique characteristics. Happy hunting! Location plays a massive role in pricing. You could pack your lunch if you want to save money if you visit high profile famous locations

i own that hotdog stand that you said was dirty we clean it every month and we only keep our cooked food we do not sell for only 3 weeks the hotdogs are always green its our secret spices in the water

Thats exactly how I would've described the onions I bought online: acidic. Plus add taste of cough syrup and onions. It was horrible. But now thanks to Publix opening near to us, I was able to get better quality from same maker. That first dog, wow. Pretty large. 🌭

Hot dog vendors in NYC are a huge gamble. Some are good, clean, and food quality is very good, but there are A LOT of dirty vendors, and you’re taking a big risk with the bad ones.

I went to comic con last year and got a hot dog outside, the damn dog was grey on the inside and was like puree dog food, it was so gross.

I don't get why so many people don't like onions. I like onions on a 🌭 and a bunch of other edible things. It's a very underrated topping imo.

Chris do you have a preference of the order the toppings go on the hot dog? Because the second vendor you asked for mustard, sauerkraut, and onion sauce, but he put the mustard last on top of everything. I may be more particular but whatever toppings I desire I usually ask for it in the order I want it on the dog. Love your channel BTW.

I have no care in the world about hot dogs not being stacked neatly in their hot water.
As for the empty condiments... Depends on when he started and how busy he is.

As a matter of fact, the cross contamination of using the same utensil for all of the ingredients in the first cart was an ick factor for me.

New viewer from the UK here. I know tipping is customary in the US, but do you tip hot dog vendors too? I didn’t know that. Also, the onion sauce thing isn’t something I’ve seen here. And it should be sweet onion sauce? How is that made? Hot dogs aren’t something I eat very often (they’re not mega popular here) but on the odd occasion I do, I would ask for onions, but they would most likely be fried without any other ingredients, and slapped. I’m in my 50s and can honestly say I’ve never heard of sauerkraut on a hot dog. I don’t know anywhere here that would put this on a hot dog. Maybe in Germany.

The first hot dog stand the guy didn't look like he really know what he was doing, the bun looked dry and the frankfurter appeared to be slightly under cooked. Two lines of mustard is this something new? The onions should have been nice size slices not cut squared? If you eat that second frank you may wind up on the toilet. Wow!
