- Even though both major parties already have their nominee (due to the allegation of delegates), Donald Trump is still struggling to unite the Republican Party and solidly win primaries. This week, the states of West Virginia, Nebraska, and Maryland held their primaries, and Trump struggled as roughly 20% of the voters in all these states combined voted for Nikki Haley - who dropped out of the race two months ago! Those numbers do not bode well for Trump in November, as people would rather vote for a zombie candidate than either stay home or vote for him. Farron Cousins explains what happened.

He did not run in an open primary in Indiana. The Democratic and the Republican primaries are run by the State at the same time. That makes easy to change parties, but that has a significant cost. You can switch back in the next primary, but do not expect to run for a political office in your old party. I was involved in Indiana politics for over 40 years in various levels.

Indiana is widely considered to be "the butt-hole of America". I live in Indiana so I should know how devestating our primary results are to Trumps chances in the general election.

I am proud to say that I am one of the "protest" voters on Tuesday 5/7/2024 in Indiana. Voting for Haley even though she dropped out 2 months ago. I have voted Republican for over 35 years but will proudly be voting for Biden in November 2024. I am seriously disgusted by the actions of the current "Republican Party" (I now call the MAGA party). PA is a closed primary. I was told off by an election worker when I went to a primary and I am registered as an independent. They were aghast that I would not pick a party to register for.
It’s 1 to 5, and worst case scenario, it’s 1 to 3 Republicans.
It’s irrelevant because, like New Hampshire, the population of people who came to vote is around the 15 to 30 percent of the state’s population. If the remainder is going to Biden, it’s a slam-dunk loss for Trump. This is also assuming that all states follow a similar outcome and the electoral college stays faithful…
Cannot for the life of me understand why the College even exists, as seen in 2020, it can be corrupted.
I still feel we should have the 1st 4 state Caucuses & Primaries (Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina, & Nevada) all at once instead of 1 at a time, & we need to reduce the amount of time the Debates & Primaries take to 4 to 6 months since we don't need a full year to campaign for nominees like we did prior to the age of the internet.

I've "done the math" and that seems to be the case.
If the same number of people in Indiana as in 2020 the same way, but if all 20% of Haley voters switch to Biden, Trump will LOSE INDIANA by NINE percent.
That is admittedly a laughably unlikely scenario, but that's the gist of how fucking bad the "Haley voters" *could* be for Trump this year.

I am a moderate Republican in Pennsylvania and I went for 2 main votes. To vote against Trump, and to vote against Perry. Unfortunately Perry had no opposition in the primary. For me straight party voting is a sign of ignorance.

Thank you for sharing with us those wonderful news. I feel slightly bad for republican leaders for having to put up with Trump, but then I remember they want to force everyone else to put up with him too and any semblance of sympathy for them vanishes.

I live in Maryland and I know quite a few people who voted for Haley in the primary. I’m an independent so I can’t vote in the primary, but I know some former Trump supporters that choose her instead. I think it’s absolutely hilarious!
