The cardiac cycle
The function of the heart is to maintain a constant circulation of blood throughout the body.
The heart acts as a pump and its action consists of a series of events known as the cardiac cycle.
During each heart beat, or cardiac cycle, the heart contracts and then relaxes.
The period of contraction is called systole and that of relaxation, diastole.
The cardiac cycle is usually divided into seven phases.
Phase 1 - Atrial Contraction
Phase 2 - Isovolumetric Contraction
Phase 3 - Rapid Ejection
Phase 4 - Reduced Ejection
Phase 5 - Isovolumetric Relaxation
Phase 6 - Rapid Filling
Phase 7 - Reduced Filling

Best physiology teacher of the world
Kaafi time baad itna accha explaination dekha hai cardiac cycle ka.. time mile toh diseases ki physiology mein bhi enter kijiye.. pehli baar video dekha.. subscribed!!
I am medical student.... literally it is a very helpful ❤... thank you ☺️ sir
I would like to say about the information at 12:14 second regarding incompetence of A V valves. The increase in ventricular systolic pressure causes the closure of previously open AV valves. But they could overturn the valves in the atria if there were no chordae tendineae and papillary muscles, since ventricular systolic pressure is very high as it has to force OUT blood in whole body. So, chordae tendineae and papillary muscles act as tent ropes for AV valves and they themselves become tensed and tight and prevent overturning of AV valves towards atria and prevent valvular incompetency(= insufficiency in keeping itself properly closed)
Normally atria does not become incompetent or unresponsive ...as told in the video. It's actually a pathology.
Thanks for the Ultimate Gift to Medical Education ...
