- Failure performing their song "Undone" from their album Magnified live on the JBTV stage.
Failure is an Alternative Rock Band from Los Angeles, forming in the early 90s. After a time apart, they recently reunited in 2014. They return to JBTV in 2019 for a second live performance.
Lyrics:
Someone said they'd like
To set you up
They're gonna feed on
You just sleep now
Should've know they'd
Try and make you cry
They're gonna have fun
Now don't fight it
Let me come undone in
Your house
I need to kill some
Time tonite
Let me come undone in
Your mouth
I need to know that your
The same
Could've guessed you
Were the only one
They wanted to laugh at
Believe them
No surprise you let it
Get to you
It was always there
Can't hide it
Your face is easy to hate
Looking helpless
And sincere
Curls up in self-sickness
Lick your wounds and
Dream of home
Let me come undone in
Your house
Let me come undone
And kill some time
Let me come undone in
Your mouth
Let me come undone
And feel the same

Song is heavily underrated. give me chills everytime. Music executives need to be fired for like 30 years now.
failure as a whole is severely underrated. Discovered them recently and they are just as good as any band thats way more popular like tool, apc, deftones, NIN, etc
@@shnoopydoopy6707same bro I just discovered them too like 2 years ago on Spotify with the classic and one of my favorites Saturday saviour! And then fantastic planet turned out to be a fantastic album to say the least! Undone is my other favorite for sure! I can’t believe they released a new album after how many years and this one hits different in a unique way and I love it! They have such a different sound that really resonates with me! Ken Andrews for president! Lol
How the fuck did I not see this particular performance pop up in my feed? This is probably the best version of Undone live I’ve heard yet!
I totally agree this version is 🔥
Great sound.
Algorithm doing me dirty, would've watched this 4 years ago if I knew it had existed.
Warning: stupid guitar fx talk. I used to be a bit disappointed that Failure switched to using an all-digital rig for their live shows, no amps just direct to the house mixer. But damn, it sounds really great, it's practically the exact tone from the album. I guess it can be argued it's too much like the album, none of the live playing variation to it; less raw. But it's still being played live, so it's a weird and good mixture there. Anyways, the song is still great and so is the performance.
you can check the rig rundown for this show, is crazy, and really not worth have heavy amps and stomp boxes this days, at least for live performance, studio recording is other story
I'm not a crazy tech geek, but I was also initially disappointed about their switch to the all-digital set-up for some goofy purist reasons. But then I saw them live and, like you, I was just floored. It was probably the best-sounded concert I'd ever been to.
Listen to the depth of the chorus guitar effect at 4:05. It sounds almost clean. That all combined to make something really good for the audience to hear. Obviously we are just used to shitty tone, but it does feel like it is missing that live “sloppiness” because the tone is almost perfect. Maybe it needs more room mics or crowd noise?
@@Strenuous1033This is a difficult question to answer, I think it's purely subjective.
Two of my favourite bands are Stereolab and the Mars Volta, both of whom are notorious for basically being different bands live to who they are on record....but that's part of the appeal.
Talking Heads is another example. The playing on Stop Making Sense is SO different to the originals they sound like another band covering the Talking Heads...yet it's one of the most iconic live shows of all time for the incredible performances. I'm not sure it would be so if they had reproduced their recorded material 1:1 (or pretty close to it).
For an audience and live sound quality, using digital rigs is the greatest thing ever, but as a musician something does get lost when you have to use in-ears to monitor your guitar instead of having a loud amp behind you.
mans voice literally got better even though it was good to begin with, that is so fucking rare, usually its the other way around.
stopped doing drugs I suppose
I still remember meeting Ken briefly , Maynard, and Danny at the old
Austin Opera House in 95, I think. The show was Tool, Flaming Lips, and
Failure opened. Still have my Magnified frog tour shirt somewhere. Tool
were shooting limestone rocks into the parking lot before the show with a
large pvc pipe. Great memories.
I really enjoyed this one. Dreamy, melancholic... Each instrument gets its spotlight in this performance.
Kelli played the drum intro better on the 94' tour with Tool. While this version is exact to the album the 16th feel of the 94' live version fit the feel better of the song imo. Top knotch preformance of this amazing 90's group. Failure still feels fresh even after all the years they were not playing music together since 97'. Simply amazing preformance from an amazing underrated group of talented musicians!
That outtro never gets old. Saw them in Cambridge MA in 2022. Phenomenal show. Was a little bummed they didnt play Undone, but hands down 3 of the top musicians working today
Man that tone is amazing
Out of MY Top 3 Favorite Bands EVER: Pearl Jam, Led Zep, NIN, Failure somehow is in the top 3 equally. Love these guys, and I hope to one day see them. Fuck COVID
Love this band! I hope and pray I get to see them live one day.
What a guitar progression and ryth unit man...
Absolutely one of your best songs. I say one of, because each album you guys put out tops the one previous. Keep doing what you are doing, I want to listen.
I love them.
Love Failure!!! Absolute favorite band...Saw them when they played "fantastic planet" front to back in 16' Great Show!!!Live sound is spectacular.
I love this song just had to show u how much
Amazing.
So sad I missed this taping!
I really want to see Greg play the creme rick from the music video that's the only time I've seen him with it
So gosh darn great man
Perfect
Flinch. You moved
Relent. They control. Don’t fight it. Why even try. Be a good boy. Believe them. When they say you’re the same
❤❤❤❤❤❤
what a sound, years expecting to see a pro shoot of this song and what fx ken use in this song. Hope you release a press vinyl version of magnified guys and see you in a live show soon
Esteban Candia check out his latest rig run down. I think he shows the settings/fx for this exact tune at one point

So what happened to the songs in this set from 'In the Future...'? I haven't seen any of them pro recorded live anywhere.
I've been wondering the very same thing🤔
I'd love to hear What Makes It Easy or Pineal Electorate in this setting.
nice
Aw fuck yeah dude.
Looks like a Jaguar body with a Gibson neck?
Looks to be an 'EGC' guitar
Why are those people standing still. This song should make you move
pretty great, eh?
Get off your phones..cheese and rice man!
Cold are a total ripoff of this band

tell us more! How did it feel at the time vs. other shows you saw during that time period? What were your impressions of the bands in their early careers? Do you remember what you talked about?
@@Strenuous1033 let’s start with Failure, had no idea of what to expect live as back then they were mostly a studio band. The Flaming Lips were just staring to get noticed and I liked their earliest material, but they were kinda boring that night, band members and stage gear were covered in Xmas lights too. Tool was great, the sound was kinda meh. Really liked the bass players Star Trek Enterprise outfit.
