I'm a 23 year old woman and I didn't know half of this stuff.
HOW DID SOCIETY ALLOW THIS?!?!??!
Mostly because the teachers and parents that need to explain it either don't know it themselves or speed through their explanations because they find it too awkward.
Then the kids wander away with only half the facts.
Exactly this. The only thing I disliked about this episode was the fact the they claimed Emily was an expert because she was a woman. Many women do not know this about their own bodies, which is very unfortunate.
It wasn't meant to be taken literally when she insinuated she was an expert, lol wow
+Drew Daily but by doing that they gave no evidence for his claims
+Digi Gamer *her*
"oh look a female telling information about things we men don't know! let's disagree with her and tell her she's over analyzing because we're men and if someone has to tell us off, it's supposed to be fellow men"
man first time I've seen the comment section without funny or meme related posts.
+Joshua Miguel Rinaldi Escano There was one dude calling it condescending because Emily was talking. Like why is it suddenly condescending when a woman is doing the talking but when Adam is doing it all is well?
+neos1234125 because she comes with the assertion that this is a male only problem and "human women" qualifies as an expert on the human anatomy. both male and females are prone to this myth and no being a "human women" does not make you an expert, obviously the information is correct because they researched but so was every adam ruins everything video but he brought in experts to prove his point.
I totally agree. Emily did her research and knows her stuff, so what if not every women is an expert on female human anatomy. I saw it as a bit of a joke. everything else in the video was educational and funny.
Cait Kay because the joke makes the assertion that women don't need experts to prove anything about the female body or anatomy, but men do. its a double standard that is only worse because the "stawmen" Adam and the other guy go "i feel bad" because they were supposed to "believe" she was an expert automatically because she was a women with no other reason given. hell it is actually kind of funny how these stawmen are written.
despite adam's past history in the "i ruin everything"series in this episode he becomes a idiotic, uninterested (in female issues), dude bro who only wants to play video games and sports bruh instead of listening to this women talk about women stuff.
then she makes the claim that virginity tests are assault, which they are not. they are wrong and flawed but far from sexual assault. and then there is the claim that virginity was "created" to control women, which it may or may not have been, but the video acts like its meaning has not changed in the thousands of years since its creation. its more an insult to men now thrown at each other by other men now and that is whats important..
she was right....to some extent. some the studies she used are statistically flawed, make untrue assertions based of less than stellar data and are biased as all hell. but that does not make her an expert who has spent 4+ years studying the human anatomy.
its clear this was written by a feminist because there are so many unproven assertions and accusations (against men), that women are equally at fault for. it taints what should be interesting into something akin to propaganda....like everything interesting that feminism touches.
+Chase Wilson If Adam was claiming to be an expert on penises and male orgasms, I don't see the problem with that? He's a man, he has a penis, he's been in that body for a while... yeah, he's probably an expert on him. Same with Emily.
"A bit of girl"
"HUMAN WOMAN"
Yup, i din't know, that me being a student in medical was useless, as i could have just gone and collected my Doctorate of Andrology from the dean's board on the basis of being man. It was that easy all along!

@@qwormuli77 If you already know this and we’re making a joke then you don’t have to read this explanation but here it is:
They were making the point that women will likely know more about their own bodies then men might do and were not stating that simply being a women means you know everything there is to know about the female body.
@@citrus_sarcasm4058 But they/we don't, not in either sex. Not in the ways described in the original, at least. Oversee a single sex ed class and you'll see.

The number of times I've had to post this video to win arguments is absolutely ridiculous.
I have to do the same thing, I even have this video favorited so that I can find it easier for this purpose
But this video has so many inaccuracies and misconception in and of itself, that it's almost physically painful.
I don't want to sound mean, but the fact that you think posting a CollegeHumour video somehow wins arguments is rather silly...
Sooooo, you regularly have arguments about hymens? Seems kinda weird...
Tsar Cube considering that people tend to make their opinions sound like facts and don't cite sources I can see it being a legitimate defense
I bet a bunch of kids in the comments are like, "Wait, no really, how many holes?"
and for them, the answer is 3. The urethra from where you urinate, the vaginal canal from where you give birth, and the anus from where you defecate. Urethra and vagina are both encased together in the labia ('pussy lips'). Just Google the female anatomy instead of reading this comment.

Peter Parker you are hilarious
+TheUniverseKiss That's using the word "expert" pretty lightly.
+TheUniverseKiss You're missing the point. No-one is taking issue with information in the video. It's extremely useful and enlightening. But being of a gender does not make you an expert on it. This is indisputable by the significant number of women who were surprised by this information too. Just read the comments section. :-)
+Alexander G She wasn't regarding it as an absolute. In this case, being a sexually-active woman is enough to know about the hymen. Except butthurt anti-feminists turned it into something way more than it needed to be.
Not so fun fact: literally translated from Dutch the hymen is called "virgin seal"
That's actually slightly creepy!
Well then
in Czech as well :D
The old Swedish word is literally "virgin cover" (mödomshinna). Actually about 10 years ago health authorities figured it was such a damaging/inaccurate concept they made a new word for it, "vaginal wreath" or "vaginal rim" (slidkrans), to try and help get it thru people's thick fucking heads. Idk how much it's helped but I think it was a good move.
Jeez

Fun fact: Some women are born without hymen.
@YeetKid yeah
You would say it can be just like the wisdom tooth
Is broken or removen to many times, and the new person may not have it, is like the dna remembers that you broke/took it out, and just dosen't give it to the next one
@@rnaa7156 Well actually, DNA doesn't work this way. It cannot respond to every change that human body experiences over time. In fact, the real reason why some people are born without wisdom teeth is mutation. Some of mutations are deadly, some may lead to disabilities. But there are also ones that can be helpful or inconsequential. Both lack of wisdom teeth and hymen do not create any evolutionary disadvantage, so they are being passed on.
Do you really think that if you just break a leg, all your DNA inside of every single cell is gonna rewrite itself somehow? Like how would these cells even "know" about this?
@@ghurcbghurcb we all had middle school science dude, we know that’s not exactly right but as you have proven with that block of text, no one cares enough to take the time to correct them.
I knew that, but many don't, so thank you for spreading the truth to the masses. Fight on!
100th like!
The part that they left out is that the Hymen can look different in many different women, some have a more pronounced hymen than covers quite a large area of the vagina sometimes with multiple "holes" while other women may have a very minimal hymen that is only a MM or so in size. Those with a more pronounced hymen may loose it upon sexual intercourse reguadless of the size of the male or how careful he is.
Small addition; hymen imperforatum can cause period to stay in the body. A girl might think she has not gotten any periods. Sometimes this gets discovered when she tries sex for the first time. It might be impossible.
A small surgical intervention might help these girls. Might be better (safer and less painful) than trying to push.
Yes to all of this! Well except I’m pretty sure you don’t lose your hymen in most nonsurgical cases, it just stretches out of the way after penetration
You can also have a hymen that’s a straight across string of tissue, with nothing around the opening. That’s what I had 🥲 it got strangled and ripped apart one of the first times I used a tampon, the string of the tampon wrapped around it. Unpleasant experience at an already unpleasant time
-hence being called the virginity seal. you can see where the misconception comes from.
I like this twist xD Adam was the one learning this time

“The Times know more about regional politics in Finland than female body.” I lost it when I heard that. :D
That's honestly so sad
The concept of virginity as a means to control women has always been a fascinating subject to me. It isn't some thing physical which leaves physical evidence behind, it is merely a lack of sexual experience. It does not exist physically, it was created by human society as a means to control female sexuality. Creating imaginary physical evidence, such as the hymen, to try and back up their arguments.
And this is shown in how virginity is viewed in our culture:
If a woman is a virgin, then she is pure and unsoiled.
If a man is a virgin, then he is a loser and not considered an adult yet by his peers.
And of course if men loose their virginity then he is praised, if the woman does then she is becomes impure, "used goods" if you will. Luckily, this view is slowly changing in Western society but the underlying is still there. "Whore" is still a popular insult for a sexually active woman. But virginity was always a means to control young sexuality so ingrained in our culture.
You know that men are virgins too...right? And we aren't exactly treated wonderfully
A means to control women? Pretty sure we got plenty of virgin men out there, and society sees it as bad if a man is a virgin. A girl is seen as pure/innocent, but it doesn't matter if she is a virgin or not. It matters if a man is a virgin, cuz society. Don't see how a womans sexuality is controlled, she can do whatever, but a man is judged for being a virgin.
12, and mentally challenged.
Can't tell if you're trying to troll me or feminists.
Ah ok, my bad. I'm also not a feminist :3.
warning...I'm about to get a little graphic. I knew this when I was in high school. Why because part of my hymen was surgically removed! Let's call it the most embarrassing night of my high school life. I lived with my grandma who was against tampons, but she left for the night so I popped on a tampon for the first time. 2 hours later, I'm paranoid it's ready to come out and so I try and try and try. It won't come out. I try to relax and still won't come out. My grandma comes home. I'm still trying. After an hour, my grandma is concerned and so I have to tell her. Next thing you know I'm at the hospital explaining to nurses and doctors. Ends up my hymen was not a balloon arch but more like a really thick donut. Tampon went in, tampon expanded, and couldn't come out. Out come surgical instruments, bye hymen. It was so thick doctor told me I would have likely never been able to have sex if it wasn't surgically removed. Fun stuff...
Jasmine Maher I'm so sorry for you
As for VauMiaou n Bruce... it was truly unforgettable. I don't know how often it happens, but I'm hoping not often. Based on the doctors' reaction (there were about 3 doctors and a handful of nurses that actually came to look and confer), I would say it's a rare occurrence.
:'(
Did you get to keep it after it was removed as a souvenir?
Jasmine Maher The first time I used a tampon, the applicator really pinched me, and there wasn't much blood to lubricate everything and was really uncomfortable, so I decided to take it out... But since everything was so dry it was stuck and the cotton gave a burning sensation when I tried. I was pretty horrified and had no idea what to do, since it was only partially in, but hurt to move either way. Eventually my mom got worried and came to check on me (I was in the bathroom panicking for a while...) and told me to hop in the shower to hopefully get it wet enough to slide out without pain. I did eventually but it honestly scarred me for life, I used pads from then on and never looked back. I started using a cup a CUP-le (ha!) years ago and it honestly changed my life when on my period..despite the insertion factor, it's so so much better than tampons
Wait that's how we pee? I actually didn't know that, and I'm a girl. Dude. I have been opened.
I was a sexually curious weirdo so i already knew
Have you never noticed your period comes out from a different hole from when you pee?
How old are u?
That's kinda sad.. (the school system failing..)
This is sad. It reminds me of that scene from Orange is the New Black where the girls didn't believe there were "2 holes" and that they peed out of a different hole, and that urinating couldn't prevent pregnancy. If memory serves, one of the girls squatted over a mirror and was amazed.
And even paperwork that comes with tampons specifies that you can urinate while you have a tampon inserted, like WTF people don't actually know that urine doesn't come from the same place as menstrual blood.
Our educational system is a massive failure.
Some women aren't even born with a hymen.
That is, according to some articles.
And some are born with a full hymen covering up their vagina, they had to go throw surgery before their first period.
Well yes it’s true :)
@@Hatsunemigulover I get this joke and its cursed

Nice google search. You even misspelled it. Good going there, buckaroo. If you're gonna correct someone, at least spell it right!
I got taught about the hymen
"Where would you pee?"
I'm done.
I'm a woman and I didn't know this......Health/Sex Ed has failed me once again
I think people hate to hear this because it makes us feel bad about our early sexual experiences. For example, my boyfriend's ex was a virgin the first time they had sex and she bled a lot and was in a lot of pain. He justified this to himself as an unpleasantness that just had to be gotten through because he thought her hymen had to be broken and that it was supposed to hurt. So finding out that hymens don't really work like that made him feel bad that he had hurt her so much when it wasn't necessary. So yeah, I totally understand why this news is a hard pill to swallow for a lot of people. We just weren't given enough sex ed and it's not our faults... Just gotta move on and not make the same mistakes in the future.
+Petra Ral poor guy?? Poor girl!
anagirly1212 Haha yeah I feel worse for her, but really it's pretty shit for everyone involved.
I hope he didn't continue when she was bleeding a lot....
"Not given enough sex" why do we need to have a lot of sex?
Digi Gamer I said "enough sex ed". More education about sex and our own bodies would help to avoid unnecessarily painful and unpleasant early sexual experiences for a lot of people.
I like Emily. She isn't as condescending as Adam. Thanks for teaching me something by the way. I guess myths run deep if enough people believe in them. I feel like a person from the Dark Ages who was just enlightened that monsters and witches aren't the cause to people's sickness, but rather poor hygiene and bacteria.
Lmao good analogy.
Wait u believe this??? Okey
Actually, during the so-called "Dark" Ages, the belief that witchcraft, demons, or any dark element caused illness was frowned upon and considered superstition (that is not to say one believed in it). They had a sense of hygiene and they knew that bad hygiene meant bad health (they didn't know how they were connected but they sure knew they were). No one threw poop from the window to the streets back then. They even had public bathhouses.
Being "condescending" is Adam's schtick, and all the ignorance and disinformation in the world is maddening. Ruining everything is hard work!

i remember learning about the truth of the hymen (through internet and not through school sex ed 🙄) and when i brought it up in a conversation when one of my female high school friends was recounting somebody else’s experience with blood/hymen tearing during sex we nearly started full on arguing about it. i tried explaining that it could but it SHOULDNT happen with proper precautions (you know just treating those with this set of genitals with respect and gentleness) being made but she vehemently denied it and said that it would happen no matter what and that’s just how it is

3:28 "Virginity is something we made up to be mean to women"
Are there really people so delusional that think entire concepts are created with the only purpose to be mean to women? Is it really their victim complex so out of control?
Yes, of course the concept is wrong and full of misconceptions from darker times that should be cleared up by now if people in general wouldn't feel repulsed by the mere idea of talking about sex or how sexual organs work (both men's and women's) but that doesn't mean there is an evil being called society that wakes up every morning with the sole purpose of being mean to women, it is a process, not a deliberate action
+92brunod This channel is turning very SJW
+92brunod I believe Emily was pointing more towards how virginity is handled in countries where women are still considered property. She specifically says that there are "virginity tests" that hurt women. Virginity is a made up term by humans, and it may cause for men to be made fun of a little, but it genuinely can destroy a woman's life. A lot of places, if she has a damaged hymen she can't get a job and can't get a husband (er, be sold by her parents to a man), so her literal only option is prostitution. And these countries think they are absolutely just, because a woman who has been used before is worthless and won't amount to anything except petty prostitution. She is not fit to be a mother, she is not fit to be a wife. At no point in society that I am aware of has a man been affected by his virginity like this. Even in first world countries women are commonly viewed as less, or as whores, for having sex a lot, even though there is literally no difference between a woman who has had safe and enjoyable sex and a virgin biologically; I can cite that argument from jack darrell's comment above mine.
Paladora
Well you could believe all you want but there is absolutely nothing said on this video to base that she meant any of that with the phrase "virginity is something we made up to be mean to women" which is what I criticised. All the other stuff you said was already mentioned in the video and, though I agree, it's totally irrelevant to the content of my comment, maybe you didn't understand what I said because your entire comment is completely unrelated to my point.
PS: "Virginity is a made up term by humans" Every single word and term was made up by humans, that's how language works
`That's exactly what she meant, she even specifically stated that virginity is used against women in several countries. Name one country where a man being a virgin drastically effects his chances of getting a job and I'll agree that her comment was out of place. Just because we live in a country where we only get made fun of for it doesn't mean that women aren't beaten, killed, or otherwise devastated over having sex. The concept of virginity hurts women, it does not hurt men. Nobody would describe a young animal as a virgin, it's just a stupid idea of classification that can be used for control.
Paladora My God! You are trying to argue against something I told you I agree with! What is your problem? You clearly never understood my point, where did I say it doesn't hurt women or that it hurts men in the same way? NEVER, so what the fuck is your point?!
Sex Ed. In my school is pretty basic: "Make sure both people consent, be emotionally ready, use condoms to avoid pregnancy or std" and while it’s technically not that bad. I am happy there’s information about it available in the Internet like this video. I sent this video to one of my friends and even she was surprised

Same Adam and Murph, same
I'm pretty sure rgional politics in finalnd are much easier to understand than the female human body

+JippaLippa Exept for when they are with the nazis, that is.
+Randal Skefingtonidis I'm just speaking from what I remember from history class, but I distinctly recall us being just sort of briefly united against a common enemy. And even then we sort of dickishly just drove them out of our country at some point for some reason.
Note that I might be talking out of my ass here, cba fact checking
+Scrawny McAwesome Probably because they had expired visas
"Virginity doesn't exist. It's just something we made up to be mean to women. Like Entourage."
I swear, if the pain in my sides does not disappear after I'm done laughing, I might sue.
+CJusticeHappen21 I've never seen Entourage. That bad huh?
+Christian Schoff so bad
lol! I laughed so hard to. yah Entourage is just completely disrespectful to women, it's painful
+CJusticeHappen21 Entourage is one of those shows that can be super fun if you can suspend all critical parts of your brain while watching it. If not, it's, well, yeah, what Emily said. Poor Sloane. Her role in the movie was literally "baby incubator."
More like to ensure the child was yours. Feminists are dumb.

*Do we even need education at this point if they're telling the wrong information??*
I learned this fact before on the internet, god.
My first love making with my boyfriend i didn't bleed, he was so gentle, and careful.
This is why people need to take sex ed for all sex. You need to understand how both a male and female body works.
Nope. Just go for it when you're doing it for the first time. If the hymen breaks thats an extra score.
Sarcasm is such a beautiful invention.
BlackKyurem5 i took sex-ed. i did not know about the hymen or the ureatha (or how to spell it) mine was mostly fear mongering about stds amd telling us to use a condom but never actually told HOW to use a condom
Brodie Crain
My worries about survival of our spiecies are misplaced then.
Thank you for assurance.
Brodie Crain basically a perfect summary of everything wrong with sex ed 👏🏻
"Human Woman" lmao
The highest degree of expertise in human anatomy...
"Seems pretty accurate. Yep, let's go play some video games" this is litteraly almost every dude under 25 in existence
Damn, even I, a 21-year-old girl, didn't know this. I mean from common sense I at least knew that having an intact hymen determines nothing about virginity (I'm a virgin, but definitely broke my hymen many years ago, I remember the blood)
But I didn't realise just how much of what I thought I knew about it was wrong. There are reasons why Emily is my favourite person at CollegeHumor!
I like when Emily ruins things
Ehh, too boring.
Agreed!
benedictify And Emily does a better job at it than Adam!
Yah
Being a woman doesn't make you an expert on anatomy automatically. Don't spread such nonsense
+Gairos wow that was a stupid statement, good job
+thisendlessforest
you took a joke seriously, good job.
+Cameron Breeze It wasn't a joke, the music sting, the reaction, it was meant to be taken seriously.
Gairos
Consider yourself lucky then, that really isn't that many, I'm still trying to work out what the next comment in the thread is but I keep getting stuck on finding a word to express the depth of my confusion.
+Cameron Breeze you copied my name.
I had my sex ed teacher tell me and other girls "Imagine if someone sliced open the skin on your arm and peeled it back.
Or did something mildly uncomfortable.
Fantastic!! Emily, I'm a fan! I'm going to be reposting this video everywhere!!
H Y M E N NOT WELL UNDERSTOOD BY MEN!
The problem is that even many women/girls have no idea about that.
Eiko Pumpkin
I'm lucky I found out when I was 12
or 11 I don't remember it was some time around my 12th b-day
LOTR SOLDIER GRAMMAR NOT UNDERSTOOD BY YOU
LOTR SOLDIER or by most women also
While this video is extremely accurate, not everybody knows everything about their bodies. That's why we're taught about them in school. Do you know where your spleen is? Most people don't know where it is or even WHAT it is.
That being said, most of what Emily discussed can be easily observed and counts as first hand knowledge. I know that if I don't blink, my eye will start to dry out. Does that mean I'm an expert about the human eye? No. Does it mean that I know some things about it? Yes.
+Trailer Drake I think the point of that scene is other than what you are saying. This video is abouyt sex, consent and a culture of the purity of womenhood (?? I think its all about how a womens word about her own body is not proof enought for anything in this society.
+Trailer Drake I didn't even know that a spleen existed until I ruptured mine in the 6th Grade.
+SakuritaNyu Well, then there is no need for gynecologists, is there?
Randal Skefingtonidis Really? Are you sarcastic or just missing the pont?
Except a lot of ex Ed programs still teach the hymen myth.
I love the way that Emily makes Adam look like such an idiot when he asks for an expert opinion.
It was a good move, it made his statement look idiotic and sexist, like girls don't know anything.
Tbf having a body part doesn't mean you're an expert on it. Plenty of women do not know this information.I'm kind of assuming the expert they had cancelled or something. There's a reason they always have experts in their videos!
That was EXCELLENT!! Emily needs more skits!!
Wait, what? You're an expert on anatomy because you're a woman? So I should be able to perform Heart Surgery and be an expert on hearts because I have a heart?
+turd muncher so do you often touch your heart and stuff?
+Sadie L did you even watch the video?
+Christian Hoffmann I know its there and I can feel/hear it yeh
of course not, shes not an expert and she probably didn't make the script, she is an actress
+AvramSMH she's a writer and works at college humour? Have you watched any other college humour videos from the past 3 years?
Okay this video is accurate but that last statement about virginity is just plain wrong, if I recall correctly, men can be virgins too... and speaking from experience they get bullied about it a lot...
+Ray Tavarez She means its invention. Historically.. Virginity in men is a relatively new concept.
+TheUniverseKiss Not really... it's been around since it's creation, by definition... like I was just reading Shakespeare's Macbeth and the character of Malcom talks about his virginity
But the point of virginity was to stop women from having sex before marriage, and shaming women who did. Men's virginity was a non issue back then.
+Randy Rickleman It shamed both sexes. It was a religious thing that made it so all marriages were "pure".
Kyle Dean No, it did not shame both sexes when it was created. When virginity was thought up, it was only intended for women.
2:25 one of my favorite bands, but yeah... i can never tell anyone how much i like them 😅
Saw them in Moscow ID. 'They cut us down after two nights in they called me john Doe the 74.'
I knew about some of these facts my brother (Doc) once lectured me over this. Still I felt bad watching this. It’s sad that even in today’s age when technology and information is so easily available people still choose to overlook the science and facts and question a woman’s dignity. I believe more awareness should be raised about this.
Virginity does exist it's just a concept rather than a physical property of the human body. Let's face it a boy's part's don't change yet we still say he's a virgin before sex.
Grimmdus this is what I think too
We just chop.... ,the end off dicks still.............
Yeah ...... no.
Emily Faith no.
Emily Faith Honey no no no, no idea where you got that from but that is not how sex works at all.
I noticed some people call your first time "sexual debut" or something and I understand that it helps with the fact of hearing "losing your virginity" to just making your debut. Its really nice how this show touches on that and it gives me confidence of my decisions.
I love that, calling it a "sexual debut". It's not about losing anything, it's a whole new experience. Plus, every first time with a new person is a first time in many ways as well.
Shame that term hasn't really caught on widely, I prefer it, sounds less violent and painful
"A bit... of... girl."
Flawless.
Thank you for this new perspective
To think, I let a GUY try to argue with me on where I pee from. I knew it wasn't from the vagina, I just never knew the name of the area.
The very next day, he basically told everyone who would listen that females pee from the vagina. He had just let everyone know how ignorant he was.
Honestly, the worst part is the word "Daddy" lmao
This episode was filmed in my hometown. The field there at is where I used to play my highschool football games! I’ve seen this video like 5 times and barely realized
I'm learning more from adam than school. The school system does suck
Why do I always check the comments
Bcz that’s where the fun starts
I do it because I'm a masochistic.
Morbid Curiosity?
I do it because some comments are actually becoming intelligent and enjoyable to read
Nicole Smith Idk , who do you check the comments? wait-
So weird that there's a law and order specifically about sex crimes, and that it's the only law and order still on the air
+Brandon Marks And so many episodes...SO - MANY - EPISODES. It's like asking someone who has never watched Days of our Lives...or Dynasty. You just can't convince them to spend that much time on a thing.
+Mansen
Days of our lives, where everyone has died at least once and where the elderly characters were the young characters when the show started.
Sex sells... even if its sex crimes saddly...
"And our school district is very underfunded".
I'm not even a teacher and I relate to this hard.
Thank you, finally. I want more of emily✨❤❤❤
This is actually sad. I remember in health, the family life education unit, we learned about this, and we were given the idea that a woman's hymen tore during sexual intercourse. The fact that a health teacher, who went through training to understand this knowledge, probably doesn't even know something as simple as that. It just kinda shows how much our education system may not be as accurate as we think.
This + Sci-show are my favorite series
Me too!!! Also crash course
Alyssa Sipe Don't forget Vsauce!
Andreas Octavio Navarro Nes yes!
+Cow Jedi DNews?
What about JK News?
I remember having this conversation a few years ago in High school, and the girls on my class didn’t know about it. They thought hymen was the “seal” and they pee from their vejay.
That banner metaphor still has me dying.....lmaaaooo!!!!
We guys understand women's bodies so little that someone else (namely a woman) needed to ruin this FOR Adam.
Yes but who's fault is it? Is it women for not bestowing said information upon us? Or is it men not passing on what little information we do learn? You decide...
Most women don't understand there bodies at all and I guarantee Emily knew non of this until she looked it up or was told.
+christopher adams Why would Emily make a video about this if she didn't know? It's not like all women believe this myth.
Queen of Thorns
A lot of people make a lot of videos about what they don't know anything about, what kind of stupid question is that?
To be fair people I met who know the most about female bodies in real life were men. I legit met virgins who didn't realize they get "moist" from foreplay and that is good way to make sex better for both parties involved. Like not even shitting you one asked me once "how could you tell if she was not into it and just faking it?" I went well for starters it would be less moist, she tried to counter with "what if they peed?" I went yeah there is difference in the two.. Same girl at 19 told me she never wanted to have sex and it was scary and sounded too painful at 28 admits in her marriage she is the one who gets punished from with holding sex as she wants it more then her husband does, and admits she can't go 3 days with out it, with out getting seriously pissed off at her husband.
Okay... I just felt like throwing my two cents in on the comment everyone's losing their minds over: that virginity was created to be mean to women. Partly true. However, the reason we thought what we thought about the hymen is because sex-ed is less about educating and more about scaring. to put it simply, it wasn't made up to be mean, it was made up to scare. Girls are told the hymen mumbo jumbo in an attempt to scare them from having sex too early. and yes, there are similar tactics for boys. because spreading fear is easier than wisdom.
After seeing some comments, yours is pretty accurate, short and well described.
You got my respect
+hank412 It's to stop them from having sex with anyone before they're married, that's it. The idea was if your hymen wasn't intact then you weren't a virgin, therefore you weren't pure. Therefore you might be pregnant and the child would not be your husbands (they had little understanding of how pregnancy worked back then. They basically thought women were flower pots and men the planters. The female egg wasn't discovered until last century). Also, I hate to say it but age wasn't a problem when this was invented. Girls have been getting married off and having sex waaay before their sexual maturity level. In fact, it's still happening in certain parts of the world. Age or maturity doesn't factor into the virginity myth it is a way of controlling female sexuality. Saying it's being "mean" to women like they say in the video is seriously white washing the actual issue.
+hank412 Just to add my two cents, it was made to see if a woman hadn't been claimed by another man, since marriages made alliances and tied families, and why women were put in this situation is because men were off fighting wars and doing other dangerous activities. Why that happened was because let's say women and men fought alongside each other back then and I had a tribe of 2k people, I lose half my men, they can still reproduce and the next generation will be fine, but let's say I lost half of my women, there's not going to be as many children so everyone'll fight each other and chaos will happen because not everyone will have a wife.
Wise words!! Fear mongering is not sex ed. A lot of schools miss the mark on that one!
THANK YOU! this is a great comment
I'm in ninth grade and my health teacher told us about how a lot of what we think we know about the hymen isn't true, but she didn't go as in-depth as this. I wonder if it'd be weird to send this to her.
Wow, you learn something new everyday
OH MY GOD SIMS MUSIC
Huh? Where?
About the time they're looking at the album. The backtrack.

Oh yeah. Haven't played sims in a while, but sounds like a track from the Mobile version Sims FreePlay and Sims 2.
MeGusta GameStation I don't like the free play version I wanted to take care of one family not the whole town and having that much responsibility and I'm broke af on that game
"Emily, human woman."
I love that Adam got his own show, but there should be so many more of these!
Just wanted to point out, I recognized Two Steps From Hell's music at 1:40. Man i love that studio.
"Virginity was invented to make women feel bad" I have somewhat of a gripe with this since 'virgin' is typically more of an insult used against males. So it works the other way around and I don't want to downplay women's issues, but at least virginity isn't just used to shame women.
+Victor Ohrwurm Virginity is only really used to shame men in the modern western world. Historically and in some modern cultures (as the video points out), virginity really only mattered when it came to women, and there were and are actual laws that regulated female virginity in a way that, as far as I know, has never been applied to men.
Being made fun of sucks. Being stoned to death because your hymen ripped is incomparable.
+Victor Ohrwurm I think it most definitely can be equally used to shame both women and men, just in different ways. Men are shamed for being virgins, women are shamed for not being virgins. The problem is the same, the way the issues play out is different, and in the end the overall side effect is the same: both groups are shamed for doing what they want to do with their bodies.
+Victor Ohrwurm You get that when she said "being mean" she meant what some women have to go through if they're supposedly not virgins (the stuff she said a minute earlier)? And yeah- now it's used as an insult against both men and women, but I don't think it's what she meant.
I agree that the repercussion for women not being virgins is *much* harsher than the insult men get for being virgins. However, in modern western culture (especially in Europe, US still being very religious and conservative) I think that while still in a worse way, women do get shamed less for not being virgins than men for being one. Shaming men for being virgins is 'normal' while shaming women for not being virgins (which isn't quite the same as slut shaming) is disgusting to as good as everyone.
+Victor Ohrwurm Bro, you're male.. you don't know what girls talk about at all, don't talk like women are never harassed about being a virgin. When I was growing up, by middle school people would make fun of you for being a virgin, they said they could tell by the way you walk and act. It's bullshit that our society is like that... maybe that's why you see so many young girls pregnant. Girls do get raging hormones, but it's far more controllable than a man's, and women are pressured into having sex all the time, ESPECIALLY virgins.
I didn't get taught this in school. I got to see a bunch of kids running till jumping onto a red ball to show sperm entering an egg. FML
That has got to be the second most fucked up school play i've heard of...
Oh yeah. We had some bullshit called living and growing, same clip.
