The Society of the Irish Motor Industry (SIMI) has composed this video to help provide an overview of the Heavy Vehicle Mechanic Apprenticeship Programme.
An apprentice is a person who works for an employer in their chosen occupation and gains the necessary skills, knowledge and competencies to become a qualified craftsperson.
A Motor Apprenticeship is a great way to get started in a career, where you will gain practical, on-the-job experience and skills as well as combining learning in an education and training institution.
On successful completion of your apprenticeship, you will receive a Level 6 National Craft Certificate which is recognised both nationally and internationally.
