One thing that wasn't touched on here that could be important for some people is head shape. I have a really long oval head and not a single Trek or Specialized helmet I've tried fits me well; they're all too short front to back, which leads to discomfort and hot spots on long rides. I ended up in a cheap Smith helmet because it was the most comfortable option.
the trek ballista is my favorite helmet by far when u put it on just make sure the straps are behind the retention system never have any problems
I've been running the Specialized Tactic for a good while. Love the sunglasses storage, and the decent neck protection. But it is fairly heavy, so as the proud Swede I am, I am now running the POC Ventral air. Absolutely love their stuff. Not sure if you guys have much POC in the us, but thats the only stuff I wear clothing wise. Expensive, but so good.
I have that same helmet. It’s really good. I think it’s on par with all the options in this video
I really like my Velocis. Got the size small from the UK and it’s only 220g due to different safety spec compared to US
Yea its crazy how much better UK helmets are lol.
And the new Specialized Propero is really good!

Virginia Tech has already done it for you and them. Giro Aries Spherical the safest helmet they've ever tested comes also in at the $300 mark and the one I trust on my noggin
Try to see if you can find a testing difference between aero helmets or non-aero vs aero helmets. POC says the new Procean is 5 watts faster than the Ventral at 30 km/h, 20 watts faster at 60 km/h. So I'm kind of leaning towards the idea that the aero difference would be undetectable between aero helmets and maybe not even detectable between aero and non-aero helmets in real world conditions.
Have the same problem with the trek helmet - it always comes out.

It was. The new icon has a fragile adjustment wheel. I broke three in the bike shop just trying them on. This was a month ago. Shop said there's a fix. Got a prevail 3 instead.
