    Keeping hope high (or, sometimes it seems, keep hope at all) while not letting expectations run away is a difficult thing to do. Actually, the time between first trials and general availability is a lot shorter for stuff used to cure really dangerous diseases. Makes sense, since the potentially danger of a poorly designed drug is still better than dying. And if the drug kills you, it doesn't matter as much, because at least you died fighting.

      Not if you sign up that your prepared to face the consequences. It's basically the same thing we already do with surgery and chemotherapy. Sometimes a surgery only has a 30% chance of success, but if the alternative is certain death, the surgery is often performed anyway.

Heart-broken and hard-headed people that refuse to believe cancer is undefeatable. These are people with incredible intelligence, and use every piece of their intelligence to better the human race, to kick this scourge. Cancer may have won the battle millions of times, but humans are in it for the long haul, and we will never give up until the war against cancer has been won.

      We are not ready for a cure for cancer, not yet anyway. There is a reason why we haven't been able to cure cancer yet: Because Cancer isn't a disease, it's merely DNA degradation. So, it's not that we can't cure it because we haven't "found" a cure, we know very damn well how to cure it, we just don't have the tech. It's the same reason humans didn't develop the wheel earlier: We had already thought of the wheel, we just didn't have the required tools to make metal axles or properly round and strong wheels, as soon as we could, wheels were widespread. We've known how to make an electric car for over a century, but we just didn't have other required technologies to make them usable and efficient until recently. A real cure for cancer will come once we have nanotechnology and a far better understanding of DNA, alongside the required tools to rewrite it in a meaningful way (meaning not through trial and error). Basically, we need a DNA compiler, so we can write DNA assembly and then compile it to ACGT.
      Until then, all we'll have will be treatments, not an actual cure.
      That said, this does look very promising.

It's like a freaking coding error. I hate cáncer more than anything.

      It's probably CZcams.
      A bot might like a video and comment "typically spam" the AI might let the bot post but hide the known bots comment and discount the view and down vote the video to counter any like. Why doesn't the AI remove the like? Because he bot might see if the like counter goes down and know it's being masked. By CZcams downvoting it can counter the bot. Not worry about the bot knowing it's being "shadowed" and make a new account.

    My mother passed away June of last year from cancer. It started with breast but her finally diagnosis was Leptomeningeal carcinomatosis. She tried all the available treatments - radiation, chemo (iv and pill forms), and surgery. Also used a bit of holistic treatment too, some costs more than the pharmaceuticals. She only fought for three years but it took a heavy toll. She never smoked or drank.

    That's the issue with all previous 'cancer cures' they weren't even close to mass producible. This though... well let's just wait and see.
    But hopefully if this works we'll have a dependable treatment for tumors! And since Cancer is not a virus or a bacteria, we don't have to worry about it mutating immunities! So the one vaccine should work forever... theoretically, anyways. We'll find out.

    • @crackedemerald4930
      @crackedemerald4930 Před 6 lety

      Sir Sleepy the thing is, that cancer sometimes if not all the times IS a mutation

    • @sirsleepy1411
      @sirsleepy1411 Před 6 lety +1

      Shockwave Shockwave
      Not quite the same. Mutation and immunities in viruses and bacteria is a process, they keep the mutations and immunities developed from previous cells. And even then, they form immunities to antibacterial substances which attack them, and that's not what this vaccine is. Whereas mutation in the form of Cancer is an event. A Cancer cell can always be traced back to a healthy cell, and the cell is not coated with tricks and defenses because of this.
      Traditional mutation in bacteria and viruses mutate defenses against specific antibacterial substances by mere chance. And new cells spawned from a parent cell inherit the immunities and the mutation becomes normal.
      Cancer cells might be mutated, but they are still almost identical to standard body cells when compared to bacteria and viruses. White blood cell could kill a cancer cell if given the chance, and there's nothing the cancer cell can do. So if we can artificially trigger the bodies defenses to attack the cancer then it should work.
      Did that make sense? A lot of words failed to come to mind while replying, but trust me. Mutations in microbes and the mutations that cause cancer are two slightly different things.

    • @crackedemerald4930
      @crackedemerald4930 Před 6 lety

    I recently went to a seminar by Stanford researcher Joshua Elias, and they actually were discussing a concept very similar to this. Except, instead of developing a vaccine that stimulates infiltrated T-cells, they’re doing research on the MHC complex that presents neoantigens on the cell surface, seeing if they can predict a bias in what proteins cancer cells present, so we can make a preemptive virus for certain cancers.

    One thing that I think needs to be mentioned more often in these kinds of science stories is how different the mouse model is from people. Mice are used because they are the closest mammal model that are easy to work on, are cheap, are well understood, easy to care for, are easy to breed, and easy to give cancer. But there have been a LOT of promising mouse studies that didn’t work when transferred to humans.

      We are long due past the date, when it comes to electrifying transport, and it still doesn't come without the fight. Interplanetary civilization is just sci-fy that is not grounded in real physics, so with enough political will/madness we will get lucky to have short science mission to mars, which will kill the crew and we will never go back, like we didn't go back to the Moon. Cancer is not on the verge of fixing. The technique vid is about is decades long. So before you get commercial vaccines against some cancers, we will wait another few decades. So pray to god that he doesn't exist, otherwise we are damned twice as much.

      No, we don't have a flying Tesla. It's slowly falling into the solar gravity well. It's going to take it about a billion years to deorbit, nevertheless its not flying. Moreover, every satellite, ISS including is falling. For real flight you need wings and air. In space things just fall down or stay in equilibrium.
