Il confronto con Labrie è inevitabile, ma qui si deve guardare oltre. La bravura di Labrie è indiscussa e, che piaccia o meno, la sua voce ha caratterizzato i Dream Theater e in particolare gli album migliori (come Images and Words); qui però si deve rendere merito a Michele per la sua bravura e per il suo "rendere omaggio" a uno dei cantanti che l'ha (sicuramente) ispirato. Non esiste che la cover superi l'originale (l'originale è pur sempre l'originale), semmai ne aumenta il valore. In sostanza.... bravo Luppi!!! A tutti i "maestri di musica" che hanno qui commentato (dicendo anche grandi baggianate!): non si può valutare la bravura di un cantante unicamente dalla sua estensione vocale!

A me piace di più Luppi per resa e gusti personali. Ti dico il mio ideale di cantante come tecnica è Matos.

Ad oggi credo che il cantante dei DT, sia uno dei piu' sopravvalutati del genere, piu' per la militanza nel gruppo che altro temo.

Michele Luppi è un bravissimo cantante. Ottima tecnica e timbrica gradevolissima. Mi chiedo solo: perchè tutti fanno "a gara" a chi si strappa meglio le palle fino a raggiungere tonalità altissime con la voce? Barry White ha fatto la storia restando sui toni bassi...
In realtà Barry White ha una voce particolarissima: in molti suoi pezzi canta nell'ottava alta del range da baritono, arrivando a toccare tranquillamente anche il G4 (cioè nota di bravura di un baritono), ma in tutte le note suona super-profondo, ricchissimo di parziali basse. Se vuoi un esempio di cantante che canta davvero in un ottava bassa, prendi ad esempio quello dei Crash Test Dummies, o Leonard Cohen

Agreed....Images and Words is arguably the masterwork of their careers. I have yet to hear anyone belt out "Another Day" like LaBrie did in his prime. Plus, if the vocalist's first language isn't English, 99% of the time it's immediately distinguishable because of common difficulties with the annunciation of a foreign language.
Stupid comments about who's better! Labrie is famous and sings really well, Luppi is not famous but he also has awesome skills, so everyone may prefer one or the other.For example I love Luppi in this performance and anyone has the right to tell me that I'm stupid for this choice!
i've got your point. luppi's voice was fit on this song, but technically james labrie still above him. I can't hear an amazing vibrato in 2:32, which james do it amazing. I can sing this song with luppi's style, but I can't with james style, and i never heard yet someone do that part as good as labrie \m/

Pra quê isso? Cada um com sua tessitura. Se você se refere apenas a agudos então qualquer pessoa que faz whistle a (chamada voz de apito) serão os melhores... o que não procede... Lione faz "voz operática", possui melhores drives, tem um grave mais forte e encorpado e nem por isso pode-se dizer que ele humilha um Luppi ou Kiske etc... Ambos são bons dentro de suas áreas de canto.
Ottima cover, Luppi molto bravo. Ottima estensione interpretazione. Personalmente adoro la voce di James, mi emoziona di più. E un'altra cosa: ci sono alcuni cantanti, tra cui Luppi, Che hanno un tipo di vibrato molto raccolto, un po' caprino. È una scelta stilistica ma a me non piace particolarmente Preferisco il vibrato più accentuato e sciolto di James, ma forse perché quando canto, è esattamente il tipo di vocalità da cui prendo ispirazione.
It's... 8 years later, but if you never found it, when Luppi was with Vision Divine, it's off the Japanese bonus track of The 25th Hour. Highly recommend Stream of Consciousness and the live dvd of it, Stage of Consciousness. I liked the live better than the studio album overall. All the best, and sorry if this is redundant and you already investigated many years ago. Luppi's always been in my top 3 vocalists... simply because of the live stuff. Perfect example here - and he held waaay back from his potential (Secret Sphere and Vision Divine really are mind-blowing live stuff when Luppi was in with each of them). I like LaBrie studio-wise, but not so much live, as there has always been a lack of power and consistency throughout... he fades a lot usually with DT and other stuff I heard him in... Same with Tate, Halford, etc. Studio they're incredible, but can't do it day in and day out on the road touring like a lot of vocalists I prefer over some more well-known characters. Could name a bunch, but art's always simply ___ of the beholder, and it cannot be compared as easily aside from techniques and range, and even then there's disagreement. For instance, I feel that one can have a huge range and not be able to sing well at all, like Axl Rose, Corey Taylor, David Lee-Roth, Chris Cornell, Mike Patton, etc. ad nauseum... Lui suona nella Solieri Band, cioè il chitarrista di Vasco, purtroppo in Italia non vanno avanti i talentuosi...però per Vasco è stato diverso, è andato avanti col Rock, prova ad ascoltare i primi dischi, te lo dico da fan dei DT da oltre 10 anni

Pra quê isso? Cada um com sua tessitura. Se você se refere apenas a agudos então qualquer pessoa que faz whistle a (chamada voz de apito) serão os melhores... o que não procede...
Lione faz "voz operática", possui melhores drives, tem um grave mais forte e encorpado e nem por isso pode-se dizer que ele humilha um Luppi ou Kiske etc...
Ambos são bons dentro de suas áreas de canto.

Ottima cover, Luppi molto bravo. Ottima estensione interpretazione. Personalmente adoro la voce di James, mi emoziona di più. E un'altra cosa: ci sono alcuni cantanti, tra cui Luppi, Che hanno un tipo di vibrato molto raccolto, un po' caprino. È una scelta stilistica ma a me non piace particolarmente
Preferisco il vibrato più accentuato e sciolto di James, ma forse perché quando canto, è esattamente il tipo di vocalità da cui prendo ispirazione.

It's... 8 years later, but if you never found it, when Luppi was with Vision Divine, it's off the Japanese bonus track of The 25th Hour. Highly recommend Stream of Consciousness and the live dvd of it, Stage of Consciousness. I liked the live better than the studio album overall.
All the best, and sorry if this is redundant and you already investigated many years ago. Luppi's always been in my top 3 vocalists... simply because of the live stuff. Perfect example here - and he held waaay back from his potential (Secret Sphere and Vision Divine really are mind-blowing live stuff when Luppi was in with each of them).
I like LaBrie studio-wise, but not so much live, as there has always been a lack of power and consistency throughout... he fades a lot usually with DT and other stuff I heard him in... Same with Tate, Halford, etc. Studio they're incredible, but can't do it day in and day out on the road touring like a lot of vocalists I prefer over some more well-known characters. Could name a bunch, but art's always simply ___ of the beholder, and it cannot be compared as easily aside from techniques and range, and even then there's disagreement. For instance, I feel that one can have a huge range and not be able to sing well at all, like Axl Rose, Corey Taylor, David Lee-Roth, Chris Cornell, Mike Patton, etc. ad nauseum...

Lui suona nella Solieri Band, cioè il chitarrista di Vasco, purtroppo in Italia non vanno avanti i talentuosi...però per Vasco è stato diverso, è andato avanti col Rock, prova ad ascoltare i primi dischi, te lo dico da fan dei DT da oltre 10 anni
