  • This is an example of how to create a fully parametric model using the Dynamic Data Workbench. The workbench provides the ability to create parameter very similar to using a spreadsheet but a little more integrated. It has some advantages and some disadvantages compared to the spreadsheet approach, let me know what you think?

Great video, again! After the excercise about fully parametic model based on a spreadsheet now based on Dynamic Data.
Same principle, but dd is much more elegantly fitting in the user interface.
I made it 'til the end. Thanks for the excellent tutorial. 🙏

Great job. First time to realize workbench dynamic data.

Interesting I’m gonna give it a try. Thanks for the easy to understand tutorial.

Man, I wish you posted this last month!
I just did it all the hard way. :)
And I had to go through different builds as the spreadsheet didnt work properly on a few builds.

I think I like this a little better than the spreadsheet

Using FreeCAD 0.20.2 (same as you I think), although I have Spreadsheet Workbench installed, I can't get a spreadsheet to load at all - the selection option is grayed out and un-responsive.
Do you think they have blocked new spreadsheets to force users into using Dynamic Data ?
Don't have an old design using Spreadsheets to see if they work in 0.20.2 or not. If they don't, FreeCAD has a BIG backwards compatability problem with old designs.
Thanks for this tutorial, was unaware of Dynamic Data.

What are the main-advantages directly compared to spreadsheet in your opinion?
I like spreadsheet a lot for parametric design but maybe it's only because i'm very familiar wirh Excel and so look&feel is easier to handle for me. I also like that it appears as a tab in th FC window.
But if there is good advantage I'm willing to change...

I think it's down to preference. The spreadsheet does seem to be more intuitive for many people.

This add-on seems to work really well, they should fold this into core FreeCAD.
I don't know if you're familiar with Autodesk Revit, but it would be nice if you could do a video on how to combine Dynamic Data with FreeCAD's App Link feature or other things to try and get a workflow similar to Revit Families.

    Hello,
could you speak more clearly, sorry but it is like you muttering something .... it's not easy to understand
Another problem, in min 7th you create the 4 corners hole ... how did you do them ?
    Thanks 😊

you should go to his page you can easily find how to do this. I find myself going back a lot, I tend to skip around and have to go find how to do something I missed

I also put the speed at 75 to 50% sometimes or I find myself clicking back, thats just me Im old and it does sink in as fast

@@user-eg7ed4wt9p, yes, but the lessons should be fully explained, it's for beginners and even is not easy to find another vid where is the holes construction ... thx

I am not sure what you are looking for. Check out the other 50÷ videos you will easily see how to create the part. I don't want to make the video too long by showing very simple stuff. It's a series of videos , you can't expect to jump in at #52 and just know everything.
