I always love when I see people enjoying ANYTHING, it reminds me that life offers moments of joy. I am especially delighted when music is involved. When that joy crosses generations, continents and racial identity I dare to hope we widely wish for more joy for ourselves and for others. Syd Barrett unfortunately did not seem to experience his appropriate share. I have regarded this tribute as remarkable but also bitter-sweet.

David Gilmour is a bad man! For real, every so often a guitar player emerges on the scene and seems to possess skills from God. David is one of the best players on planet earth. Eddie Van Halen was like that also, I remember when I heard Eruption for the 1st time. I was about 15 years old, living in Dothan, AL, lol! I heard this guy (Ed Van Halen) on guitar doing things I had never heard before, he was at his best during those early years in my opinion. Dave Gilmour is credited with the most famous guitar solo in rock n roll, the solo from Comfortably Numb is the one solo everyone would play, if everyone played guitar! Lol! The 70's album Dark Side of the Moon was in the top 100 albums for like 4 decades. Everyone knows the songs on that album, classics like Us and Them and Money. David Gilmour is as good in concert as he is in the studio, as you have seen. Dave is getting up there in his years now, he is 85 now, so we won't have him for much longer. He joined Pink Floyd in 1967, so he's been at it for a long time. I have great admiration for Dave Gilmour, he has great musical instincts and he has steadily taken his level of play to a higher and higher level as he has aged. His longevity in a business that includes chronic alcoholism and drug addiction says a lot about Dave as well. James Hetfield, the front man for Metallica, has struggled with alcoholism for years. He is another monster talent. Glad to see you expanding your horizons my friend, there is so much great music out there, no reason to listen to the same song twice, lol
Check out Dave Grohl from The Foo Fighters. Dave is a really nice guy who always has time for fans. Dave Grohl was the drummer for Nirvana until Kurt Cobain died of a drug overdose. Dave Grohl is a highly respected person in the music business. Dave is the rock/metal drummers drummer. He is considered the best drummer on the planet by most people in/out of the rock/metal business. I've seen him play, he is not of this world. Oddly, Dave doesn't play drums for his band The Foo Fighters, he writes all the songs, plays lead guitar and he is the lead singer in Foo Fighters. Its fascinating to me to watch someone like Dave who is overflowing with talent..

So many of the 60-70 groups built on the foundations of gifted black, blues artists. We owe them a debt of gratitude.

React to 'Fat Old Sun' by David Gilmour at Royal Albert Hall. It's an awesome performance of an old Pink Floyd classic. The guitar solo at the end is phenomenal!!!

Yes! One of his very best guitar solos, and such an overlooked song. The solo on the song 'The Blue' from the same concert is also amazing.

@@Pulsar77 it is an overlooked song and I was happy to see David pull it out for that tour. He did an amazing job on it and that guitar at the end is one of his best solos!

If you haven't heard it, listen to David's song Sorrow on that same track "Live from Pompeii." OMG that song is epic. To me, Pink Floyd is nothing without David, the best guitarist ever, like Jimi Hendrix, the best ever!! I've been a huge fan since I was 7 yrs old...And 50 yrs later at 57, I'm still in awe of this man...He's a guitar god, a legend!!! His longest guitar solo, I believe, is from the song "Comfortably Numb" you should listen to that one, if you love his guitar playing you'll be blown away!!
