As much as people are saying they miss R.E.M. - they wrote so many great songs that you can listen over and over again for a lifetime and it think it was the right move to end on a high note, "Blue" fading out on their last album was the perfect ending. Great band, great musicians!
its funny thing to think that young people and all these tic toc's ppl might not have idea who REM is. I grew up on them, listening them on the cassettes! Their music means so much to me...I remember...It was start of 90s, dont know like 1992 or 1993 I was in Italy, walking down the street and their song Shiny Happy People was playing on every corner...everything was so full of colours and happiness, people were wearing very colorful clothes, it was happy times...and this band was becoming one of the biggest bands ...miss those times...love their album Out of time and Monster. Iconic albums.
Back in the early ‘80’s I asked a local record store owner for music recommendations. At the time I was listening to Lynyrd Skynyrd and Molly Hatchet, somewhat typical music for an early 20s Air Force guy. He recommended R.E.M. and Gram Parsons and I have him to thank for many hours of fine music listening.
REM in their best years I supposed...Specially Michael s performiance . I m still listening to them continuously and being moved with his voice, performace, inteligent way of presentation of bunch of senses. Thank you REM for your being. Thank you so very much❤
Mam I love this group of artists! After all the years, I believe I can still remember where I was each time I heard every REM song, for the first time.
Stipe seems happy in life finally. Honestly always dreaded that we would get bad news on him b/c he seemed so full of dread and despair despite the amazing success of the band. Saw them first in ‘83 on a college campus then again in 85 in NYC at Felt Forum. Songs of my youth.
Someone in previous post said : "when Michael Stipe smile ; I smile" !! so true ! in his face, there is so humanity, he loves everyone, his yes tels it, his smile tells, his lyrics tells it... such a beautiful one... Love you Michael and either your group...

Michael Stipe and Rob Zombie did the same thing. They quit at literally the peak of their performances so that people can always remember them for exactly that. The difference is Robert changed bands and, quite frankly, should have done what Michael did and make random appearances instead of just completely quitting it. Hopefully, Till and everybody from Rammstein does the same thing. Sucks growing up in this era of amazing music, but it's also completely mind-boggling.
The live version of this song is so much better than the studio version. It's much better with a faster tempo. The studio version sound like something Jimmy Buffet would put out.

Great band, great musicians!
Am I the only 1 who still misses R.E.M
Hardly -- hundreds of thousands in your corner
-“Not at all… It would be quite the contrary.” 🖤
No
Nope
I miss them, too.
Michael S. + Michael M. = Perfect Harmony!!!
Stipe is so very humble. Great performance.
and there we have it :-)

I lived on numerous AFB in the 80s. Were you career AF?
For sure Michael Stipe is a true vocal phenomena!!!
I wish they still performed. It would be incredible.

I miss them terribly
After all this time still great!!!
Superb ! What a performance ! These guys knew how to perform 100%
Mills' harmonies are perfect
Mike Mills always with the quality backing vocals
Just as telling of the REM sound as Michaels lead vocals, let's face it. And a damn good songwriter as well, i.e. Rockville and Be Mine!
the perfect backing to micheal if you ask me.
I couldnt stand mick mills droning backing vocals. Made my toes curl up.
@@themelted4614 who's Mick Mills?
@@user-uj3zk2cx8t mick or mick are both short for micheal ...
Best recording of this song I have heard
One of my fav bands ever.
Excellent music.. beautiful voice! Heartfelt xo
A musical gift from the musical gods
One of the best vocalists of any band, and easy to hear what he is saying unlike some singer's who are inaudible.
Agree. Simple Minds are also easy to understand IMO
Lol. You weren’t listening during the IRS years were you :)
@@billcook4768haha, nicely said 😅
It's so nice to see them so happy in this. They sure brought all of us so much.
Such a great group .....miss them loads!
No I would love R.E.M to comeback cause if they came back I would go to one of there concerts if they came to Republic Of Ireland again.
Simply the Best!

Yes Michael had some serious demons and never wanted to be the front man for the band. God bless him for over coming his demons.
I love all of them
Mike Mills is so underrated.
nope, the ones that should be listening are here....
the fact that at 2:01 he says "had the balls to ask" instead of gall to ask is just so Stipe right there.
Agree
Such an incredible human in every way besides the obvious, that he is a gifted artist! COOL!
