I notice that oil in the liner is your diagnosis due to big ring gaps. Of the pistons that I can see, The rings are not clocked properly also. I have heard some say it does not matter but I think this is a good example that is DOES matter.

That’s caused by the owners, they don’t have a good maintenance program!
They are owners that own trucks and don’t know anything about trucks.

I like your videos. Helpful to me, owner operator trying to do my own repair and maintenance. I bought a used Schneider 2012 Freightliner Columbia glider. 2002 Series 60. Had 511,000 mi. at purchase. Dropped #5 exhaust valve at 588,000 mi.
Performed low budget repair. Fixed valve, one liner&piston looked rough not#5. Only top of piston beat up a little. Crazy thing....could not find piece of valve at disassembly!! Replaced #6 because liner had unusual wear marks around circumference, like coolant got in and layed there waiting repair.
837,000 on engine now, but uses 4 gallons oil in 15,000 mi maintenance cycle. Mostly when oil is getting old. Mostly heavy flatbed loads in northeast region. Stock 430 horsepower

FIVE GALLONS OF OIL in less than 1000 miles.
2011 cascadia DD15 125. Bought truck in Feb ‘22. Seller drove it from Houston to San Antonio. Had oil changed and other items replaced. I bought it. My first weekend running drove 260 miles Saturday night and then drove 590 miles Sunday. Last 30 miles to destination check engine, stop engine and oil light came. No oil on dipstick. Added 22 quarts to get out to full line. FIVE GALLONS!
Drove home to SA. Added TWO GALLONS.
    Replaced oil pump, oil sensor.
Ran it to Oklahoma. On the way back same lights came on. Added just over gallon and got truck back. On arrival, added 4 gallons to get to full line.
Figuring it’s burning nearly a gallon every 100 miles. ONE HUNDRED. Runs smooth, no other warnings. No leaks. No oil in fuel tanks. No oil in turbo. No oil in coolant. No smoking exhaust. No oil in air tanks.

But last week,BOOM! the coolant went into the engine,it damaged the camshaft as well,I stopped the engine inmediatly, but the damage was done.
How can we know before this happens? my truck had a lot of new parts,New SCR box,new radiator, new tires, new ac system..so my loss is double, the engine costs from 34k to 44k for an overhaul and 50k for a new engine,I am junking it at this point, but it was a delight not having payments and what I thought was a good engine. You might see coolant in your oil pan. As coolant is heavier than oil so it will stay in bottom which might give you an early start. Or you can check the coolant reservoir level. If the coolant is not leaking outside then it’s going in. Could be the cups, EGR or just a oil cooler.
