  • Lawmakers in Mississippi have quickly pushed for the passage of HB1125, a dangerous bill that prohibits transgender-related healthcare in Mississippi for people under the age of 18. On February 2, community and advocacy organizations across Mississippi came together to support trans and queer youth who would be impacted by the legislation to (1) provide immediate emergency resources, (2) share critical information, and (3) get the word out about the love, support, and community that exists for transgender equality in Mississippi.
This event was hosted by a coalition in Mississippi led by the following organizations: ACLU of Mississippi, Campaign for Southern Equality, Gulf Coast Equality Council, Gulfport PFLAG, Human Rights Campaign Mississippi, Immigrant Alliance for Justice and Equity, Mississippi Rising Coalition, MS Alliance for Public Safety, PRISM at USM, Spectrum: The Other Clinic, National Center for Transgender Equality, The Spectrum Center, Southern Poverty Law Center, Rosedale Freedom Project, The TRANS Program, Unitarian Universalist Church of Jackson, and Vote Your Pride.
