Ryza was my first gateway into the atelier franchise & thoroughly enjoyed it. I do not really like crafting but the mechanics in Ryza was addictive. The changes in Ryza 2 made the second instalment different but familiar. A nice relaxing jrpg experience.
Amazing in-depth review. Will definitely add ryza 2 to the backlog (got like three games before that)
I definitely wanna pick this one up. I just recently, finally, got a physical copy of the original at a good price, which I really want to play first.
Also, this is minor, but I noticed during combat that the button prompts pulse their respective classic PlayStation color (triangle glows green, square glows purple, etc), so I looked up gameplay of the Switch version... and all the buttons just pulse white. Aww, man xD
I own a copy of the game. I stayed because I enjoy ur videos.
Same! I just wanted to see his opinion!
Once I heard a humorous rumour in Japan which said that Sailor Moon had gradually lost their popularity in proportion to that all their character's legs had gotten thinner and thinner.
Atelier Ryza is a very comfy game. I'm glad the sequel keeps that.
Long time Atelier fans might resent Ryza's game(s) a bit but I think besides the more conventionally attractive main character and more forgiving gameplay it's an overall good direction that the series has gone. Ryza is very likable to me beyond just her looks. The second game did give some extra character development the first game methinks it lacked especially with Tao. Not a great amount for enough for me. I'm hopeful for the third game if and when it happens.
I also really hope it gets a dub, if it comes. Purists might dislike it but good voice acting in one's native language can help wonders for the experience.
Nice detailed review!
I really liked most of the added features and characters, especially Patty and Bos who had a lot of development. Didn't like what they did for the story with a very heavy focus on Fi and that abrupt ending though. Oh and the distance blur is annoying af when you run on stairs or hill areas.
I am enjoying the original Ryza a lot, but have yet to finish it. I thought I was making good progress after 20-ish hours but it seems like I still have a long way to go. xD
I have the limited edition for the PS4 and was wondering what you would say about the 2 A4 Illustrations but….. they’re missing from the switch LE version it seems
I didn’t expect that
Maybe regional differences?
I like how you explained at the beginning that the crafting system was made easier in Ryza 1 and I was still so confused with it that I couldn't finish the game
I agree that the LE for Ryza 2 is a bit lackluster which is why I skipped it. There's also the fact that the PAL version is being sold in UK and importing has become more expensive after Brexit. I'm glad though that they put a bit more effort with the game box and actually included inside artwork, I own the LE for the first Ryza on Switch and even that came with nothing inside but the cartridge...
worth it just to see Ryza
Tricc lady is on this game?
I personall think that the Story in Ryza 2 is the week part compared to Ryza 1, at some point I was just bored/annoyed by the Story and some Character interactions. But Gameplay wise etc I think Ryza 2 is way better than Ryza 1.
I dropped ryza 1 after 3 hours bcs story was utter trash 🤣
You should buy it on pc too so you have the whole lot.
The character is ridiculously thicc XD it's crazy the creator keep saying that she's just "kawaii"
I see....
I don't know, some of those animations look kinda weird. Who moves their upper torso like this while running? And the way she slides sideways while her back is pressed to the wall looks also wrong. I can overlook things like that if a game is sold at a price that matches the budget it was made on, but not on a game that is sold in the same price range as tripple A titles. That puts both Ryza games into the "I will buy eventually when it's 80% off just like Neptunia" list for me!
And while I often find myself enjoying budget titles more than those tripple A games, I still can't justify to myself paying full price for them when their production value is so low.
I'd have loved to have a physical PS5 version here in Europe. We only got the PS4 version on disc. Yeah, it's upgradeable for free, but I'd have loved the PS5 cover. :3
Same situation in NA. Switch and PS4 are physical. Rest is digital only, unfortunately.
@@YSN is the ps4 version of ryza 2 censored?
@@Dwight1295 what I want to know is what’s the difference between switch and PlayStation
@@RaspyCh the ps4 version have slightly better framerate. and it looks gorgeous on the ps4. You see a bit more details on ps4 with shadows and the edges around the face. And you can upgrade from ps4 to ps5.
@@RaspyCh better graphics better frame rate, visual quality overall is better.
I've never really played turn based games and my pea sized brain can't figure out the combat systems of these 2 Ryza titles. They've been sitting on my steam library. Any good tutorial recommendations??
Getting this on ps5, first one on switch was a shit show.
Late as ever
