    The UK needs more destroyers as well as a bunch of modern guided missile frigates.
    But even more important, any new vessel should be equipped with the Mk. 41 VLS instead of the PAAMS/Sea Viper.
    I really don't get how anyone could think it would be a good idea to put the Mk. 41 and its missile family aside and take the PAAMS instead.
    I can't think of a single advantage of the PAAMS except possibly the price, however I don't even think that there's a big difference in the price of the system and more importantly the missiles it uses.

    • @donkoh5738
      @donkoh5738 Před 9 měsíci

      please sir, the point of the quote from 4 yrs ago was simply (and truthfully still today), that the squandered QE carrier industrial complex shipbuilding budgets (building ships that in no way create proportionate investment capability and deterrence value) ... should have absolutely been reallocated at the time into fielding actual boosted medium-term RN mix of capabilities and deterrence value !
      Please don't either over-think it, or dodge the issue. It really shouldn't be too complicated of a topic point.
      That said, yes and yes, USN at the least should have arguably license-built and outright ordered/commissioned at least 4-5 stopgap QE flat decks - both ski-jump and catobar mods - by now, as part of it's interim capability and deterrence gap-filler strategy. IMHO . Cheers
