Nice video as always Johnny. What I really appreciate though however, is how you Mentor these young men in their life. As you did the military, you're teaching young men responsibility leadership and ownership and pride and what they do. As a drill sergeant, you were charged with molding young men into soldiers. Now you are molding young men and teaching them a good trade. It's good and refreshing to see young men working hard trying to make and honest living. Hard work creates good values. I applaud you Johnny, keep up the good work.

At the end of the day, you guys have completed the schedule for the day, to the highest standard, that you demand, John. Your customers are obviously 100% satisfied and that seems to be great, to me and all your fans. Q is like the icing on the cake, also. That is some dedicated lawn care specialist and edging/trimming, taken to a superb high level. This plus your endless knowledge and work rate, John, is the perfect team. I feel like im one of the few that will pay a straight 8 everyday nomatter what. But i also have 2 guys that want to work light till dark mon thru sun but i keep sundays as a mandatory day off. Im not religious but i feel everybody needs a day to relax or handle other business. As the owner i work with them everyday every hour so i know making money is important but i have seen many guys over the years of hiring are all gungho andbthen get burnt out and startvto hate it. Even if we run short on sat and have a few left on schedule they go to monday unless the customer has a event on sunday in which i will go out myself and take care of. I have worked for many outfits that taking off for a appointment was a problem and get shit for it, but at the same time your working 5/6 days a week and like 60/70 hrs. Where is there time to do anything and because of this my guys know if they have a appointment or something to go to just follow in your car and breakoff either for rest of day or what is needed. To many times i hear owners saying its hard to get good help but at the same time they dont want the worker to have a life and normally paid what they deserve. Thats why if your good in the indusry theres always a job around the corner. But my guys love me as a boss because i was the worker for so long and finally got fed up and went out and bought my own setup because a boss of 3 yrs i worked for told me i couldnt make the appointment to my now daughters sonogram. No $18.50 hr is gonna make me miss that and it was tthe best decision i ever made. Today i would thank him for making me quit because not sure if i would be a owner if not. To the owners reading this treat your guys with respect or atleast the serious ones and pay what their worth. To Johnny love the vidios been a fan forblong time now and funny that i still like to watch after i been doingvthe same work all day. Seems like you understand about good equipment and good workers means better running business and personal life because your not stressing about the work.

now if my job was supposed to be full time hourly and dwindles to part time im gonna be thinking of looking for another job.
if im paid by the day regardless how short the day was, well damn, thats a sweet gig!

I agree that when the crews bust it out they should be able to “pop smoke”. HOWEVER, maybe take a little time to double check their equipment before they ride. Maintain everything the night before as cool down and the next morning “ chocks up- saddle up”. No dilly dally to check if things are good to go. More done before it gets hot. And if they are checking equipment as they put it away on last lawn, good for them! All stuff gassed up and loaded.
Like the service, don’t go out half cocked!
    Work safe!

However, if I had to work for a lawn service; I would like to work for a company that paid me according to the property size, tasks, and value. It would give me incentive to do quality work. Maybe a bonus if I (or my crew) keeps the equipment working properly and no negligent breakdowns.

I know at dealerships the auto mechanics get paid book time. If they take longer than book time, they are working at a lower rate. If they work faster than book time, the can pick up extra jobs. This is how mechanics make money, they learn how the jobs are done and can get right on it. With that said, I would offer overtime pay if they help around the shop. The employes had the time blocked off so they have nothing pressing, ie spouses at work, kids at school. You could find this time to do maintenance and/or personal bonding.

Not to get too personal....but do you pay your workers with a handwritten check or a printed out one........it has been getting hot, summer is not even here yet.....every now and then I will mow the front, trim and clean up and put front yard to water while I do the back, not all the time, but when it looks dry
