The Timelords (AKA The KLF, The Jams, et al) and their 12-inch version of "Doctorin' The Tardis", which they claimed was recorded by Ford Timelord, their 1968 Ford Galaxy 500 V8 ex-American Police Car!
This brings back some memories! Back in the 80s KVIE 6, the Sacramento PBS station that covers pretty much the whole central Central Valley, used to run Doctor Who episodes for a couple of hours on Saturday nights starting at around 10 pm iirc. Their pledge drives were actually fun to watch. Two staffers were Whovians & always dressed up as Two and Five (Five looked exactly like him) and they had the local Doctor Who fan club answering phones. Somebody always brought a Police Box, as well as a life-sized remote control Dalek that moved. This being the 80s, the tech guys brought out all the new video effects that look so cheesy now. They basically made a party out of it.
I, too, watched DW episodes on PBS in the same timeframe when I was young. my local station ALSO payed them very late on Saturday nights. Heck, the local PBS station where I live now does the same thing. I've often wondered why they always played them so late at night if they got good ratings off them
It's funny, it took me a while to realize what was being said, but without a doubt my favorite part of this is the Dalek-ed "DOSH DOSH DOSH, LOADS OF MONEY" at the start. Harry Enfield jokes will always be great.
I played it loud and some young people asked who did this and when they said they recognized the sounds from the series from the theme song from "Doctor Who", I told them it was from 1988. They were amazed and I said "only from the 80s'. They danced to it at my party, brought tears of joy to see young people appreciated it.
Now it's 2024 , and still dancing to this 1988 classic , forever more : Generation X approved and appreciated 👍🙂 !!
I love this song! This is the 1st time I've heard this version, in probably going on 30 years! Cool song indeed!
Apr twenty four and still with the MIGHTY KLF 🏴🇬🇧 👍😎👍
Still love this after hearing it in the 80's! Now we're in 2019!
I remember when this got a considerable amount of radio play.
Yeah, and I remember people asking me what any of the sound clips came from as I was the only Doctor Who fan they knew...
AYE YA BLOODY WANKA!
