It never ceases to amaze me that someone had to go traipsing up, down, and across those mountains to discover an outcropping of oxidized material that could potentially be worthwhile enough to haul tons of supplies, materials, and everything that's necessary to mine that ore. And here, there is not only the danger of falling from a stope inside the mine but a fall outside could send someone rolling down the side of the mountain until halted by a tree or medium sized rock. Maybe you should think about giving Sharon the better camera after she explored a couple of adits that while not very long were loaded with artifacts. Nice work on your drone. That looked very professional. Thanks for the video.

Thank you Frank and Sharon! I very much enjoyed watching this amazing two part adventure! You guys have gone to a lot of hard work and planning to put this all together for us! You have now once again!, both contributed immensely to the historical education of future generations. You just can't get this type of knowledge from history books! All I have to do is sit back and lazily click on my mouse to watch the tremendous energy that you both pour into each one of these explorations! I would be exhausted after walking for only 5 minutes clambering around on those steep slopes! yet you guys have gone up, down, and all around to provide us with the same P.O.V. that you get. Thank you! :o) You guys definitely deserve a good rest after this escapade! I was hoping that you could have found some exciting new tunnels and levels deep in the mine, but, you know what?..THAT will hapen again, and it's kinda nice for a change to see all the extreme work and foresight and planning that went in to establishing these above ground tructures too! It really is almost unimaginable the things that man can do,... when he puts his mind to it eh!? They certainly had no helicopters back then to lift the building materials needed to create such complicated structures! Those men knew what work was! thats for sure!
I will look forward to seeing you guys doing a more intimate mine exploration again in the near future! I am just as excited as you are at whats around the next bend!, while exploring underground! and its really very nice to see the happy and relaxed look on your's and Sharon's faces when you two can simply walk along exploring at your own pace, and sit and have lunch together. You guys are comical! and I can see the respect and Love that you give each other too. Beautiful. So you two take good care! rest up well my friends, and I will be waiting to see the two of you in action once again!
By the way,..it was nice to see the little side venture that Sharon did on her own too! Brave little trooper she is! I was worried there might be a bear back in there! ..so don't go it alone too often sweety!..or at least carry some bear spray maybe? It's nice to see that Frank and you understand that couples need a little of their own space a bit too,..right? :o) Thanks again for a wonderful adventure! I can't wait to see you two laughing together again! Peace & Luv!

I have said several times I come from a generation of coal miners, my mom has pictures of 3 generations of the tough times my grandpa, great grandpa and uncles have endured working timber and underground. Times have changed for me the hardest thing I have to do is saw timbers for cribbing or work on ug mining equipment. The men from the past were a from a different breed the tasks and accomplishments they overcome were mind boggling feats that my generation and future will never understand how they done it. There was no heavy equipment or helicopters to fly parts up that high or to pull a pull rope to pull those massive cables over mountains it was all done by mule, horse and man. It's truly sad to see it all get destroyed by nature. Thank y'all for another great video

That compressor is the same model we have at the paper mill I work at in Port Townsend, Washington - a former National Paper/Crown Zellerbach mill from 1928. Used to have three when the mill was originally built, now down to one. Beefy Ingersoll Rand, 300hp 2300v motor. It made the floor shake when it ran, a booming THUMP THUMP THUMP THUMP from the dual pistons. It ran until last year when it sheared the connecting rod bolts. After three attempts to fix it with custom parts (good luck getting direct replacements) repairs were shelved. I am not sure if it'll run again, but it wouldn't take much.

@@exploringabandonedmines Hello Frank, this may be due to the wind, I once worked for an energy supplier, and in some areas we had huge problems with ice on the 70 meter (230 feet) high 400KV high-voltage lines. The ice has always accumulated in the areas where the wind was blowing strongly. Once an entire route would be almost collapsed ...Similar to water, the wind has some areas in which it prefers to blow, even if the landscape does not reveal a specific reason for it.
I also find it unbelievable how flat the snow and ice has pressed the old buildings... Ice is just incredibly heavy ... When you look into the tunnels, in contrast, everything looks almost untouched :)
