  • This is a narration free (except for the intro and outro) version of the proper video, just for those that love the sounds of working and hate the sounds of me talking (intro and outro excluded ;)
Ok, not really a true paper-ripping, microphone whispering ASMR but there's plenty of good old ambient studio sounds in which to indulge. And hey, the train managed to not mess up too many shots ;)

I've seen, to my horror, so-called "experts" inflict horrible damage on great works by the masters...from the Louvre to the Vatican. I have come to the conclusion, sir....that you are the best fine art restorer/conservator in the world...hands down. If I ever had someone come to me and ask about bringing a damaged masterwork back to life, I'd refer them to you. No one else. Keep your videos coming. They bring me joy!

Brilliant work! I also can self-narrate in Julian's voice (of course) and did so happily. I could even hear the lecture about how the conservator's job is to hide the damage and not repaint the piece, which for this job, was a huge challenge. There was SO much damage and missing original paint --what tremendous obstacles both ethically and physically. Yet, what an absolutely brilliant outcome. I'm sure the client could not possibly be happier with this final result. This video was a true "master's class" in conservation, by a true master conservator. Wow, that was impressive. Thanks to having seen all your videos, I knew exactly what you were doing; if you ever do a fully narrated version, I'll watch it, too. Thank you for making your work accessible. I'm an art historian and I've learned a lot.

I believe he already uploaded the narrated version. Unless it's deja vu, I think I've already watched it. Should be able to find it on his channel.

Before your conservation I thought he was a much older man. Revealed, he is much younger - and corpulent! What a marvelous painting. What a marvelous conservator.

I must say, I'm a fan of your narrated videos, but this also has it's beauty.

I could literally recreate Julian's voice in my head...it made me realise...I've been watching and learning from these videos for a long time now!!

I'm on your Patreon, and I love that you're still putting out the non-narration videos. No disrespect to your voice, but sometimes just watching (and hearing) you work is so, so satisfying.
