I thought Mark was going to pass out when Stealth started stacking items on the roof. Lol
we made a joke about that as he did it.. he prefers the utility of the car, he is not as worried about scratches as some folks.
HAHA! Yeah, I do like a pretty car; the ceramic coat is pretty durable. A subtle pre-step that most don't notice is that I put a soft or padded base on the roof before anything else. In this case, the rubber-coated trunk liner was on the car before I put the trunk floor up there. I also place objects straight up or down, no dragging. My version of this video will publish Thursday at 2pm EST.

Honestly, you need to let people speak when they’re speaking. I have a trainee under me that does exactly what you do all the time and it annoys the bajeesus out of me. Other than that, great vid.

Big Thumbs ups for Scott coming out and you for filming this whole process. I have mine installed and yes the mids and highs went harsher than before the install. I am OCD about my cars and music. I've called several VW dealers in a 150 mile radius and all are either lazy or don't have the dongle and tell me it comes programmed for our 2018 GTI. this info you shared conformed what i'm hearing is wrong and i cant find one to rent in my area so i found one to purchase and program it myself. I am not happy with the VW customer service around here . they act as if they never heard of the Dongle. Manual says visit dealer to program after install. and they don't call back or say it doesn't need programming. so A huge thank you to you for your work! and scott for helping you!
sure man, good luck with your install. in the end, i decided its just too much power for the doors, and isnt needed. all the system needs is a sub add. so ill be working on that in the future sometime.
Will this work for a 2021 GTI? I want to order the subwoofer and have it installed at a vw dealer but unsure if everything will work . The VW website says that it doesn't fit my year so thats why im iffy

Audio processing is very dependent on the individual...its like picture settings on a newer TV...my girlfriend loves high contrast with the brightness all the way up which to me looks totally artificial.
VERY true... this system needs some work, but its DEF. better than before. Louder, and huge bass. Just a little harsh, which i have to fine tune somehow.
Can you provide a new version of the programming code (updated!)?

Hi, from where did you get the rear shade ? I have the 2 door GTI and i'm struggling to find anything for the rear windows since every accessory out there is for the 4 doors.
oh you mean stealths shade, not mine. those are oem.

ya, my music got copyright and the entire video was blocked in ALL countries.. so i had to re-upload it with no music.. as far as the results, i think it sounds worse with programming to be honest. too much processing. it was more pure and clear before. my next quest will be figuring out how to reset it to factory defaults, or what code can be used to do that. I'll have to buy my own $180 dongle, as i will want to test every single setting and play with it a lot. wish i hadnt touched it, but huge thanks to stealth GTI for coming out, as I clearly thought the programming would make it better to my own ears. It got fuller in front.. but not clearer..

@@LastHumansGarage Sorry to hear that. According to the VW parts website: "The soundbox DSP default setting is Golf, GTI, and Golf R MK7 hatchback models. No programming is necessary for these models.
" Something doesn't add up.
They are never pre-programmed. We proved that in the video. the sound changed after programming to the proper 57. We also proved the number the programmer shows when you plug it in is just the last program which the programmer used. Its nothing to do with what is on the amp.
I don't think a recode would help, and no one in the world knows a way to reset or delete the DSP setting to bring it raw again.. Aside from me buying a brand new kit and using the untouched amp... another $350... then sell my old kit for maybe $300?

I remember when you first got the car you said it was possibly the best stock stereo you’ve ever heard. With that being said is the Helix a must have upgrade? Or was the stock system sufficient?
i always felt sad abotu the stock system. I think it was about even with the WRX Harmon Kardon, but it def did not have the same volume. It only had a little better SQ but less loud. Now it is TOO loud.. hurts my ears. a bit harsh. but OVERALL, its better. As long as I keep it at a good range. The bass is KILLER, that's the best part. and the mids and highs are way cleaner, until you go up to half volume..
