My wife died 20 years ago. This was her favourite piece of music.Hard to type this as I am crying.
David Eldridge; this what you have done should make you feel proud of you. Congratulations!!

She actually didn't die. Her spirit go on living forever. You'll get to see her again someday.
So sorry for your loss
Much love, my friend

I would happily miss my train to catch this instead. Those opening women's voices are superb. Whoever put this together deserves an award. Thank you so much, all who participated,
I could give my left hand to hear this live on there.. amazing!

Sehr hübsch, vender schöen.
In my life I've been in hundreds, if not thousands, of shopping malls, outdoor plazas, and transportation centers. Not ONCE has a flash mob like this broken out while I was there. I feel cheated by life :-(
Try keeping an eye on the forums and websites of the artistic and organizational groups in your area. And I don't just mean colleges and universities; You'll get word ahead of time...
end it then ?

Definitely one of the best flashmobs - musicians, chorale, dancers, acrobats, and even confetti!
I'm sure the cleaning person is not so happy XD
Cornelia Li, that was my thought too.
The singing was superb, and the music and dancers.
Nothing else was needed.
It's so amazing when humans gather to do beautiful things, such as this presentation.
This should happen every hour, somewhere in the world.
EPIC MOMENTS The very best CZcams comment ever. Thanks!
AGREED!!! The world would be a much better place! :)
oh yes , out off stupid going !
Epic Moments-- I agree with jwphoto. I would love to see it in small towns and villages too. Music is the great equalizer. "And hath charms to soothe the savage beast."
It should happen everywhere in the world, every hour.
Flash mobs are one of the rare evolutionary social movements of the 2000s that are totally healing, and always a net positive for society. They bring us together, completely, for a precious few heavenly moments. They lift us out of the maelstrom, up above the clouds of anxiety where we can peer, for a brief moment, into the infinite distance of joy.
This brought back a lot of memories for me, because I sang in the chorus of Carmina Burana when I was in high school in the ‘70s.
".....Flash mobs are one of the rare evolutionary social movements of the 2000s that are totally healing, and always a net positive for society....."
MUSICAL flashmobs, yes, definitely.
But there are also criminal flashmobs coordinated by cellphones, in which a whole neighborhood of bad kids go into one store - then all shoplift stuff, run out simultaneously, and beat up anyone who tries to stop them. Those are not positive. Not at all.
Hard to type this as I am crying. My daughter died 7 months ago. This is my favorite piece of music. Thank you to all the people who make things this inspiring and beautiful, this is what we are all about as one people, now that we are free again, let's begin again.
Deepest condolences !
Tom thanks for let us know that social and private impact of the music. It's a true that usually runs away and we loss a way to share.
So very sorry for your loss.
I cannot fathom a heartbreak or an injustice any greater than what you suffered. On some level, I feel I know how this could speak to you. Sending all my love from Niagara Falls/Buffalo NY USA

You're talking about Corona, or about the total destruction of our environment?

Tears in my eyes, chills down my spine. Music is my language and i need it to feel alive. Thank you for a avesome video of this flash mob.
I do miss flashmobs
I sang Carmina Burana with the East Lansing [Michigan] High School choir in ~1958. It was the most thrilling musical event of my young life to date!
Played an arrangement of it with my high school's wind ensemble several years ago--can definitely agree with it being something special!
Nice event to remember.

I'm a big fan of those flashmobs, I love to see how music bring smiles to people's faces, how it makes them happy. The power of music.
Especially such a powerful piece
Somehow it always makes me very emotional
I truly hope that the events return once Covid is declared no longer a pandemic. The years we’ve spent worried, unable to fully participate in large groups, have had a toll on many. Flash mobs have many benefits for the groups (often young talented musicians who learn precision & additional timing, from this style & get exposure to performing for large crowds, the hours planning & rehearsing build cooperation, highlight some but usually all the performers, building trust & I imagine they are fun & then exciting & satisfactions of a job well done & much more I am sure). The film crew, the editors who often also are young & learning are gaining great experiences. Rarely do members of the public not stop to witness some or all of the performance - reminding us to take time to enjoy life amid the hustle & bustle. The joy is always evident. Often voices join in or people dance. Over all a very positive experience, all round. Can you tell that I am a huge fan? This mob was exceptional, thanks for sharing their performance with the world.

Life without music is a very empty life. We need music to make our heart lighter, to take pressure of it, being united with people all over the world. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
When I saw "Flashmob Carmina Burana", I thought, "A flashmob singing 'O Fortuna'......cool!!!"
At 2:15......the tympanist hits that drum, that immortal 'D' note.........AND IT BEGINS!!!!
I was NOT disappointed!!!
I kinda missed the bass drum and gong. But that might have given a few heart attacks in this situation. I even thought the tympanist was holding back a bit to avoid overwhelming a 'lay' audience with the massive percussivosity of his regular performance level.
Obwohl so lange her, fantastisch…. Ein Augen-und Ohrenschmaus…danke, danke..❤❤

How absolutely fantastic! The practice it must have taken to coordinate everyone- the orchestra, singers, dancers, & the confetti... WOW, JUST WOW, BRAVO!
I love that the 3 original singers ended up standing back-to-back. Fabulous.
I had to come back to this video. I'm an avid concertgoer who knows the formality of seeing & hearing a concert in a symphony hall, so this is very different. I could not imagine going somewhere to do errands or getting on a plane or train, & all of a sudden random people in the crowd started to play instruments, sing, & dance. It would be extraordinary. I would gladly miss my plane or train to witness a performance such as this.
Again, Bravo Everyone, Multi Bravo!
How wonderful !!! I'm from Asia and we don't have anything (flashmob, street performance etc.) awesome like this.
There's just something about insanely talented people that moves me.
That is all.
Grandios!!
I always think... what a joy it must be to pick up or sit down with an instrument & coax such lovely sounds from them. Even a wonderful singer... just to open their mouth & elicit that beauty. How Marvelous!
We are so blessed to have the writers of this fine music & talented performers who bring it to us.
It fills my heart with joy that some people selflessly entertain others trough the power of music!

Music should by definition be selfless. Only in a world this shitty we marvel at this. Music should be enjoyed everywhere and all the time for free. We as a species have decided that anything worthwile is not free
how dare they ,,,,=^..^=,,,,
Agree with other commenters. Unfortunately I stopped performing a couple of years before the advent of flashmobs, but I so wish I could participate as either performer or audience in one of these.
In our "community band" we once or twice invited audience members to sit inside the group to experience the music from our perspective and everyone seemed to love it. I doubt any of the performers in this video felt "selfless" in the least. It is a great feeling to show people, especially kids, the feelings of power and satisfaction derived from performing a piece like this on real live wind and percussion instruments, not synthesizers, drum machines and autotuned voices.
Fantastisch! So viel Expression und Schoenheit! Ich bin begeistert!

Ordinary people, extraordinary talent.
I don't feel there is anything ordinary about these people. It takes a certain level of talent and professionalism to be able to pull this off. I've done this piece before and the harmony alone is enough to give most singers nightmares.
Well in fact these people are professionals ;) It was a flashmob live act of the singers of the "Volksoper" in Vienna.
naaah, m8, it's extremely hard work, fueled by passion
Why doesn't this sort of thing happen when I am out and about?
Because is doesn't happen in bars and clubs.
It dosnt happen at the dog park.
Maybe you should contact High School, ,University Choirs, Church Choirs, in your area.
These are artists that don't EVER get enough exposure. See if you can get them to be as one for a local charity.
Be the catalyst. Sing something from a great Broadway Show. I'm a Roman Catholic with less than a great voice in community theater that has had the role of : "Tevie". Our " Goldie" was , "Episcopalian". Our Yente was, "Methodist"; ….Yet we all embrace the amazing stories of :
Sholom Aleichem.
Embrace the common thread of cultural struggle.

Thank you for sharing this. I've sung this piece many times, but watching this was a soothing balm. The world is a mess, and this is a little respite.
Tnx God for the classic music....
Thank the composers and miraculous minds who created and performed the music.
Carl Orff, long dead composer from Munich, Bavaria, though world famous for the lst fifty years, I knew him in the sixties, when I was a child, go look him up in wikipedia everybody. Camina Burana made me cry with joy even then, it's perfect for a mob, only the sound was very much like playback, maybe not in life but on the video. The accoustic circumstances in a railway station may be okay for a mob,but not a recording. Love it anyway
That's exactly what I though… :)
No god required.
I myself had the the pleasure of taking part in a very special Choir-flashmob: we, as a choir from Germany, performed Beethovens "Freude schöner Götterfunken/Ode To The Joy" on the Chinese Wall. In chinese language. Fantastic experience.
Wow, that sounds cool. Is there a video of that on CZcams? And in what Chinese language did you sing? Mandarin?
Es ist absolut wunderbar, großartig, einfach einzigartig. Danke an alle Beteiligten 🌷✨

Especially that prolonged note by the first three singers. Amazing!
Could someone please tell me if the original piece had these prolonged notes by the three sopranos? My three years old grand daughters asked me why the sopranos kept singing the same long notes yesterday..I wish I could answer.. and wish to know if that part was in the original composition?
OMG, the emotion and the tears. How beautiful on every level

Danke für das tolle Video, liebe VolksoperInnen!
I heard this amazing piece of music in an open square of Lisbon in June with 2 different choirs and the traditional 1930s trams passing by and its bells ringing . One of my best memories ever...
It would be mine, too! You're very lucky!
Wie genial ist das!!!! Bin sehr, sehr begeistert! Danke!
I come back to this video every time I need an energy boost! How lucky they were to have such a magnificent presentation in a random day.
The name of the first song is Amor Volat Undique, and the second is O Fortuna.
Not to nitpick but... And I could be wrong, not being a vocalist... But I don't think they're songs. They're sections or movements of a secular oratorio. But yeah, I know the whole setting is a bunch of people in a tavern singing songs; many of them drunken songs. So while I shudder violently every time someone comments "yeah dude, we're totally playing this song in band" when referring to a piece of classical/serious music, if one can ever be forgiven for calling a piece of serious music a song, I suppose this is the occasion.
@@phthartic What. Ever. Dude. Just enjoy the damned thing.
I listen to the whole, entire work with my eyes closed, and it never gets old. Thank you! For those who don't know, this is only the first, opening movement of an entire composition by Carl Orff, titled Carmina Burana. If you liked this you really should hear the REST of it!!!!
It is also the final movement, which follows the sopranos' piece. There's one brief movement in between, a solo soprano, but most people won't notice.
Watch out for those lyrics, though.
It's part (roughly the second half) of movement 15 Amor volat undique, followed by part (the intro and the last of the three verses) of O Fortuna. As has been stated, O Fortuna is both the first movement and the last (25th). I'm not sure what "brief movement in between" Larry was thinking of -- perhaps 23 Dulcissime? At any rate there are nine movements in between, not just one.
I ADORE this piece. I too often listen to it with closed eyes and open soul.
Flashmob sind Konzerte für das Volk.
Today, I needed a reminder of how beautiful humanity can be.
You know it's a good flash mob when people start to see people singing and then later realizing that something big is happening.
