2006 is retro 😭 I’m getting old
Whyyyyyy?!?!?
Im from the 70s. Now thats old
So Am I
@@advilshenk time flies because back in the 2000s the 70s didn't seem so old 😭
Yeah I think of 2006 as recent, except I was in elementary school and it was nearly 20 years ago now 😅
I like how they had the emergency lights on during the whole video. 😂 BTW John let you catch him!
They didn't have the lights on all the video...🫤
🤦♂️
It's got a cop motor, it's got cop tires, cop suspensions, cop shocks. - blues brothers
It was built before catalytic converters so it run good on regular gas.
"What do you say, is it the new bluesmobile or what? Fix the cigarette lighter".
Yeah, but those new soft bumpers won't have the same effect when dealing with Illinois Nazis.
Gotta appreciate the fact that they flipped on the chase lights for all the tests 😂
I think carguys love police cars in general, and the more power the better. The American cop cruiser definately has a special place in automotive culture.
These were everywhere when I was a kid in California. I love this generation of the Charger.
Yeah I sat in the back too !!
@@78_CmroZ28cool, what happened after?
@@trapr1993funny story cause the truck I was driving at the time was the same color blk. And plates etc and they were telling me some guy same truck was stealing in to people's cars. Other than that was I scared out my ass ? Shit yeah idk what's worse how cold those cars get inside or the seats. 18 at the time working at Sonic good times. Other than me being shocked what the hell happened they do in fact sound nice taking off. 👍🏻
@@78_CmroZ28 since I was in was early today I must say that the seats are very cold and uncomfortable because of the plastic and not any leg room at all with that huge metal sheet separating you from front seats
4:58 John: Hello officer.
Officer Brian Robinson: License and registration, please!
John: AND BELIEVE ME, I KNOW WHAT I’M TALKING ABOUT! LOL
lmao
Is that Barricade?!
As a cop car reseller. These were JUNK !!! Had tons of engine and electrical issues. None of this generation are still in service in my area🤣🤣
i love mopar, but yeah. the charger wasn't for the long haul. In a way, I'm fine with that. I don't want that much speed at the cost of a crown vic around long enough to get bought up by idiots.
Unfortunately I've heard about that.
I don't know if it's accurate, but I've read it has something to do with heat and strain on the systems from long idle times. If kept moving they were fine. But someone forgot how much time police cars just sit with their engines running.
The older style police cars (Crown Vic, Caprice, etc.) along with having fewer systems also were more spread out allowing for greater dissipation of heat while not cooking items that are stacked on one another.
@@christopherconard2831 Additionally, departments used to the abuse a body on frame could take tended to behave the same, but another issue was the Dodge Chargers brakes would be used up very quickly and/or warp very very easily.
I don't doubt the arrangement under the hood didn't play a role. I remember my old CVPI had a lot of movement for air flow and heat dissipation, even if it gave a false sense of confidence on extra space should one need to work on it.
I guess the cylinder deactivation crap killed a lot of those V8s.
The Crown Victoria will always be the king of the police fleet vehicles. I own an 02 civilian model in Spruce Green. 💙✌️
I'm modding my P71..
30k ahhh the good ol days. Can't even buy a base anything for that now lol.
30k then is almost 50k today. So it's not that inexpensive.
@@bmstylee50k isn't expensive to you? Be my sugar mom/dad 😂
@@itsabigchungus your statement implied that 30k was cheap back in fhebdayy. Yes 50k is expensive and yes I can spend that on a car. I'm just not that interested in doing it. I like not having a car payment. Plus modern cars are full of junk I have no need for.
@@bmstylee my bad, I misread your comment. I thought you said "it's not that expensive." And I agree with you 100%. That's why all the cars I've had so far are usually 90s "shit boxes". But they're priceless to me.
You can buy base wrx
They also made a Magnum police car model, though they are very scarce. Always liked the look of this generation of Mopars.
I own a magnum and I always hear my friends saying theres a police magnum in my town but i can never find it
Probably totaled by a bunch of idiots who got them secondhand.
Yeah those police magnums were awesome commonly used for K-9 units actually.
Neighboring town had a Marked Magnum. The wagon looks awesome as a fully dressed police car.
That pull out was lovely
This Dodge Charger Police Packsge is great car
@@fernandorocha-dx1wv Its pretty sweet
wish motorweek got to review the crown victoria police interceptor at the time it was available
I got my drivers license in 2005 right when these rolled out. My local PD got some and i remember thinking it was some ultra high performance vehicle. Still vividly remember seeing one get just a hair sideways as a cop was running code turning through an intersection. Thought it was the coolest thing ever. Now 14.8 in the 1/4 is regular traffic lol
Bro was probably so used to his Crown Vic and thought he was driving a race car lol
Beautiful engineering for its time. These weren’t beauty-shots. They were hammering this machine. Good stuff 👍🏼
I remember watching this on TV and seeing John get pulled over in a Civic 😂
It's got a cop motor, a 343 cubic inch plant. It's got cop tires, cop suspension, cop shocks. It's a model made after catalytic converters, so it won't run good on regular gas. What do you say, is it the new Blues-mobile, or what?!!"
I had an '06 RT, fun car!
2006 Honda Civic, a LOUDWARD classic.
Love yalls work
For 2006, that thing was quick. Still is in some ways.
Stock 1/2 ton trucks now smoke this thing lol
I'll bet that 0-60 is even longer when it was fully equipped.
It was fully equipped, did you watch the video and look at the car?
@@rodmunch69It's WELL equipped, not fully equipped and context isn't even clear.
Whether Chrysler equipment or police equipment. Doesn't even have the vinyl seats many of them have.
@rodmunch69 I didn't see any police gear from a department such as accident kits, riot kits, fire extinguishers, computers or a partition. Anything else you're taking offense to?
@@rodmunch69 it doesn't even have a cage buddy. Did you watch the video? 😂
I had a 2011 Charger cop car, was all black, 3.6 V6, loved that thing
It was at this point running from the police became more difficult.
We want to test drive Ford Crown Victoria P71 krone 3.55
I liked the way these looked. Must not have been that great since my local department retired them before the Crown Vic (and the Crown Vics were probably older!) but the new Chargers are what is used now
Still like the panther platform best
“1 Adam 12, 1 Adam 12, a 211 in progress; 1 Adam 12, handle code 3!”
Keeping the fleet technician busy nationwide!!😆😂🤣
Every car should be built like this: heavy duty everything.
The chassis was so weak on the early versions of these cars that they could twist and pop windows when crossing a median.
I didn’t know that. Nothing beats the old Crown Vic’s
No they didn't, stop lying.
@@RobertSmith-le8wp well you don't know because it's not true.
@@rodmunch69You have zero credibility on most of everything you comment on, so I'd give pause on trusting either of your claims
@@rodmunch69 I don't come here to talk bs
3:57 lmao at the tester trying to open the rear doors from inside
Not really performance numbers for the money. The little FORD fox body state trooper cars back in the day would smoke these, out handle and better gas mileage.
good stuff guys
This car was top-dog in with 340 hp in 2006. Since 2020, most hi-performance American Cars exceed 460 hp in leaps & bounds, but these Cruisers haven't & literally don't keep/catch up. They need to up their game to fleets of Cadillac CT5-V Blackwings or the like...
= Game Changer.
Some towns STILL run these.
@Brian_Eugene_LeeMore like all uses Ford Explorers
@@agony5344 not in the south. Plenty of cities never went with it. No need for AWD.
@@agony5344 It depends on the city and/or district. In my county it varies depending on which city you are in. Some towns have Chargers and Ford Explorers, some have Chargers and Escapes, and some use Chargers and Durangos.
@JacobPaul-ix7oc Tahoes are also pretty common, but they're probably 75% Explorer in my part of VA and the rest are F150 or Charger.
Anybody know what music was used for the video?
The S2000 has very similar 0-60 and quarter mile figures
There's so many for sale down here on Craigslist
Watching this i went and got my liscence insurance and registration
When Dodge introduced the Charger police package, they became widely popular, putting Mopar back in the #1 seed before the Ford Explorer became #1. Very few vehicles can outrun a Charger interceptor equipped with the 5.7, as the 5.7 is a quick 0-60, 0-100, and 40-60 car capable of 150 mph. And boy, do I love hearing these things take off!
The radio looks like my shaker 500 in my 2009 Shelby GT500. 🤔
14.8 at 97MPH? Might not have been as fast as I thought.
P71 FTW!!!!!
The Charger cop car is of course the natural successor to the Crown Victoria.
Bada$$ & intimidating!
3.5 wasn't an OHV 12V engine, i don't know why they got a few Chrysler vehicle reviews wrong.
The acting is ridiculous 😂😂😂
Why does it feel like this video is from the 80’s?
Now in 2024, I think all the cop cars in my city are all dodges
I thought that was tony stark for a second.
I'd rather be pursued by a 69' Fury with a 440. 😄
i work on the 2023-24 chargers for highway patrol
How do they hold up?
For some reason i am thinking Rosco chasing the Dukes in this car
"popping strobes", nope not that lightbar.
I want one!
Did you see how awful that interior was? It looked like they had a budget of $20 and had change left over.
@@Noah_E Yep. Still want one.
Perfect when you have kids!
Looks good 😂 from a distance.
That’s the equivalent of $47000 in 2024 money
nice
That poor Mercedes e-class
These were only as fast as a civic si in their day?!
I always assumed they were way faster.
No wonder crime is so bad everywhere now. Criminals BEEN getting away.😅
I laughed at the end of the video
Too bad police still prefers crown vic instead of charger at that time
Too bad? What wrong with the vic? It was a good police car too
@@joshuamorehead6124 The CV was a school bus compared to the Charger at the time, the CVs bigger problem (other than the same lame '98 styling) was the same ol low T 4.6, while the Mustang and F-Series received better v6 and v8s at the same time..
may be a school bus but its not plastic like these
@@ljmorris6496 I will never understand Fords thought process in not putting some real muscle in the CVPI. They were only good for 16 second 1/4 miles and 125-129 top speed. These chargers could get close to 150.
@@joshuamorehead6124they’re both slow, the crown Vic is a lot more reliable
So it has cop brakes, but does it have cop shocks though? 😅
I still like the Chevy PPV better

Gotta say those numbers were not that impressive even back then lol, sort of disappointing.
They Bringing them back here in PA. I see them everywhere now. Guess they got Tired of shit Ford 3.5s
The suspension on these was just terrible
I don't think you have driven one before. I think you are just repeating something you heard someone else say. The chassis was from a Mercedes E Class. The transmission was Mercedes twice.
@@blackericdeniceHe's correct.
@@FoxFaderWorld No, he's not. I have driven a 3.5, 5.7. 6.1 and 6.4 Charger. The suspension was fine on all the cars.

Ppl judge these American v8 sedans like they're 2dr sports cars.. Chill, my knee-grows, with 500-700lbs more, don't expect a 10 second car with 300hp..
There is no way John actually drove such a boring and crappy car like that. No, in the early episodes I know John says he owns a '82 Corvette, which means he has too much self respect to actually drive something that dull.
Shows how much you know or don't know. He's obviously not driving a personal vehicle, but a long-term test vehicle considering it's late 2006 and the Civic of that generation had been out for a year. It fits fine, even if they could've used a more performance oriented 2006/07 test vehicle instead.
John Davis has a roster of personal vehicles beyond even that old Corvette, that the question hardly needs to be asked. Seems like silly pandering and virtue signaling on your part, considering you're a bigoted know-nothing knuckedragger.
He was testing an 82. He owns/owned a 78
lol 😂
Ford could have smoked this Charger if they wanted.
Damn. I see why i outran them so well. Sloooooow
40 in a 25? Try 85
Doesn’t matter they don’t prosecute criminals
You're talking about the 13% -- this thing is meant to catch mom's in their minivans doing 60 in a 55 - and they will write those tickets every time since it's what funds the department.
Has nothing to do with anything. Don't bring politics into this video, as different jurisdictions approach policing correctly and incorrect ly on their own merits.
Get a life tbh
