  • This delightful triple berry crumble is my family's favorite. It is one of those hearty desserts that warms up the soul! With a tart and tangy, gooey berry base, a buttery, crisp, oatmeal topping infused with the warm flavor of cinnamon, this fabulous berry crumble is sure to win hearts! I love making this in the cooler months, because we enjoy having it while its still warm, topped with creamy vanilla ice cream. This wonderful recipe is incredibly easy with just a few ingredients, and minimal effort! Below is the full written recipe for your convenience.
This recipe makes six ramekins, or one 8 inch pie dish, or one 9X9 inch baking dish of berry crumble.
    Ingredients for filling/base:
    2 cups strawberries diced up
    2 cups blueberries
    1 cup blackberries
    1/3 cup sugar
2 tablespoons cornstarch (or all purpose flour)
Preheat oven to 375. In a bowl, mix together all the ingredients and set aside.
    Ingredients for crumble:
    1/2 cup all purpose flour
    1/2 cup old fashioned oats
    1/2 cup light brown sugar
1/2 cup (1 stick) cold butter cut in cubes
    1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
    1/4 tsp salt
In a bowl, mix all the ingredients together using a fork, a pastry cutter, or your fingers, until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Take your baking dish and first line up the berry mixture at the bottom. Top with crumble mixture. Bake at 375 degrees for 30 to 40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the fruits can be seen bubbling through the crumble mixture. Allow to cool at least 30 minutes before serving, if you intend to serve warm. Do not serve immediately after removing from the oven, because the fruit filling will be too hot and your mouth may get burnt. Serve with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. ENJOY!
    Variations:
    - You can use raspberries in addition to the three berries mentioned above, or in place of one of the berries. You can also use just one type of berry or two kinds instead of three.
    - You can use frozen berries direct from the freezer, without thawing. Follow the same recipe but increase baking time to 1 hour.
    - You can skip the berries and use this exact recipe to make apple, or peach, or pear crumble instead. Just make sure you have about 5 to 6 cups of total cut up fruit, for the base (filling).
