30 years ago we bought a 1982 Bertram 54 that had the same setup with 3 different voltages. The very first week we converted the starters and alts from 32v to 24v in order to keep it simple and avoid dealing with different charging difficulties.. it was a mess... now everything is 24v, except the genset that have always run in 12v.

Good one, 24 and 12 VDC are the most prevalent battery voltages and it makes sense to stay there if possible.

I have a 1963 Chris Craft 57 that is also 32v. I have twelve 12v 100w panels for 1200w total. In order to charge the 32v batteries I put four panels in series to 48v and paralleled them. I use a BougeRV 40amp charge controller in which you can adjust the charge voltages. I used the same voltages as my old 32v Heart Charger/Inverter. This setup charges the 32v batteries no problem. Currently I have 32v house batteries as well. Just parallel them to solar charge them both at once.

FWIW the Victron Orion 24V DC-DC converter chargers can be adjusted up to a maximum output of 30v, which is not quite high enough to be useful here.

    Please I have a question: can i charge my 12v 100ah battery with a 24v/250w solar panel?

This is implied but not explicit: A solar array feeding 3 controllers on a catamaran: one house bank in each hull, and a third supplying the (outboard) starters + windlass. I saw this on the boat tour of youtuber "Luckyfish".

Hey, If I only want to have one battery on my small boat which type of battery should I get to use as a starter and a house battery? I was thinking about an AGM battery, would that work? Engine is really small (45A to start) and house battery supplies only to a few systems (all in 12V DC).
    Thanks in advance

Best choice, the bigger the better.

Go ahead and get an AGM battery, and get the largest one that makes sense for your house loads and engine starting loads.

@@PacificYachtSystems thanks, the engine (15hp) recommends 12V-35Ah to start. Does it matter if its an AGM deep cycle or starting battery at this point? I only have a little fishfinder attached for max 12 hours. Should I still go for a bigger AGM deep cycle battery (ca 50Ah). Thanks a lot
