The proper way to service the trans is. Fill it up until it starts leaking Then start the car up, get the trans up to temp Then go fill the trans more while the car is running and trans is warm. You’ll be able to add another qrt or so.
I was going to say exactly this. The engine should be on after it starts to overflow and you shift all the gears. It needs to be below a certain temp as well.
Advice of the new shop. I have looked at all the prints. Just make sure your kitchen. Sink has a window and is on the exterior wall. Take your shop space. And install a crane right off the ibeams. Also make sure your drain system is on point and can not fail. Pre plan for where your putting your lift so you can have the cement poured properly when they do the foundation. And you won’t have to install footers afterwards. Make sure your going to have drop downs for power. Look at it like a life time shop.

There is a very specific drain/fill process for the ZF8HP, you should probably change the pan as well bc its the filter for the transmission. they are absolutely bulletproof though so im sure she's fine!
Hey tim, You must flash the gearbox with xHP flashtool afterwards… it has an option named “True manual” and it allows you to hit the rev limiter, with this mode the transmission will not up-shift automatically when it reaches certain RPM when you are on “Manual mode” thank me later! 😁👍🏻
5:00 do what i did to a cheap set of allen keys in work and cut the length of the short end down in half with an angle grinder and cutting disc to then allow you easier access to tight spaces like that. been a great timesaver having them there when needed

you need a peristaltic pump for your side fill transmissions. they are awesome reversable and most run on a variety of voltage i use a porter cable battery on mine my e93 is so easy to refill the trans
Boss transmission oil level needs to be checked on the running engine, transmission temperature should be 40 Celsius. Connect the computer and check the temperature, after that very important you need to reset the transmission adaptations and values. If you will not do this the transmission will not go back to the normal values because they are saved for long periods of time.
Warm up engine along with the transmission until they both reach operating temperature, then shift all levels with a 5 seconds waiting time between every level, then go under the car and do the (warm refill) Because for theses transmissions there are two steps to refill , one is cold refill which takes 3.5 to 4 quarts and the warm refill would take around 1.5 quart. This is required when changing the whole fluid, but in your case do the warm refill step.
Suggestion; go two stories with the build and that way you can have a big patio are over the shop portion and it'll be A LOT quieter in the house part.
Build vlog would be great! I would put a mezzanine in overlooking the workshop area and you could have an office/gaming/chill out area on the mezzanine..
For bmw trans fluid level need to do this! Car level Engine on Car fully warmed up to temp Then pull fill bolt and fill until it overflows out then test drive! You have a scanner hop on it and it should have a trans temp live data menu in the transmission module!

wanna add, when filling a trans (auto) fill when cold, let it start dripping. get it upto temp, then fill until its leaking again. add the cap and your done. its more so about the fluids going thru lines/coolers and such. you always "check" an automatics trans fluid levels when the trans is upto temp. anyways, ZF FTW! 5sp swapped my e46 a while back with a getrag. major mistake in a 330ci. now has a getrag 320zf couldn be happier (lied) boost!!!!!

Literally, in the transmission are like 9,35 liters of oil, if you drained it all, you have to put back in that amount of oil, because 3 liters or 3,35 will be in the torque converter, so thats why you have to put in the gearbox a lot of oil.

You are lucky you didnt burn up the transmission. Check and make sure the car is good before test driving. Check the fluids at least bro
