Mines where actually busted, the outside flexible membrane was strapped, on both of them. The new Alpine replacement are somewhat better, fidelity wise, but as volume, not so much..
What does this sound like when sound is played through? I’ve got a driver door speaker that half the time is fine and half the time has a rattle / distortion on it. I found your video on how to remove the door trim on A4 because I was going to have a look for loose material causing (since it’s intermittent I think the speaker isn’t blown). But is this an example of the speaker having gotten damaged and is shifting around, sometimes sounding bad and sometimes okay?
It sounds like rubbing. The rubbing occures mostly at low frequencies. Try to upload a video with the sound your speaker makes and give me a link. Maybe I can figure it out.
@@UltimateDIY thanks for replying. Here’s a video czcams.com/video/1cRixT3M3aA/video.html it’s the right side that’s rattling distorting, I change the balance in the video to try to illustrate that but you can kinda hear it throughout. What’s weird is that it can go away for months and then come back - it’s gotten pretty bad so I’m think of trying to take the trim off to have a look for something loose... so you think the speaker is broken and shifting around so that sometimes it’s distorting and sometimes not?
Yup, that's the kind of sound it would. I would remove the trim and push on the speaker membrane in different places. You should hear it rubbing quite simetrically from the center. If it rubs much worse on one side, it's shifted. Also, if it rubs even when pushing directly on the dust cap, is's shifted.
@@UltimateDIY that’s fantastic thanks - I will try removing trim (scary) and check the speaker. My kid slammed the door and loosened the trim once so wondering if that might had broken the speaker a bit too. Wish me luck!
@@UltimateDIY am facut eu la inceput o inventie. Am pastrat carcasa originala si am pus un difuzor ceva de pe la carrefour. Mergea da aveam eroare pe tester. Stii ceva ce putem sa punem in locul lor?
If you remove the magnet when you put it back on take one hand and push the speaker in so that cone is pushed upwards and at the same time insert the magnet it will guide itself in without damaging the center cone …hope this helps 🙏🏻….and I used a 9volt battery to test it I didn’t even have to use wires I just placed the battery on the factory wires just a little tap so you can see the speaker moving freely 👍🏽👍🏽🫵🏽🤘🏽

What a great video, hopefully it will save me buying a new speaker.
That's what I also hope :)
Thanks a lot. Barcelona SPAIN
Welcome!
Thanks bro. Save buying 2 speakers
Welcome!

Yes, in some cases the foam rots and it's close to impossible to replace it, because of the way this things are built.
ce fel de lipici ne recomanzi sa folosim? multumesc!
Buna intrebare. Eu am pus super glue lichid exact pe crapatura dintre magnet si metal, pentru ca intra intre ele si apoi poxipol peste.

But, other things could cause a similar sound. For example if it got some water damage somehow, or if the tinsel leads are damaged.
