Thats the point. Like in the Brainsaw, the pump looks like the body to a Screwdriver. The idea of these Zombie Strike guns is to make it seem like it is made out of everyday materials

you sort of can just instead of putting in the mag on a longshot or something when you prime it back open the jam door and try to load in a single dart it does work I've tried it before on both my longshot and my friends centurion (I don't own a centurion so that's why I tried it with my friend's one)

From the looks of it...if they'd moved the saw mechanism forward a bit under the barrel and then increased the blade diameter by half or even doubled it, that would have put the foam far enough out in front that you wouldn't have to worry about hitting someone with the barrels.
