On the bench today is a 1:64 scale Hot Wheels ’73 Ford Falcon XB. Designed by Rob Matthes, it debuted in the All Stars / 2010 HW Premiere. Production began in 2010 and continues up to now.
The '73 Ford Falcon XB is a Sports coupe produced by Ford's Australian division starting in late 1973. The XB Falcon is considered to be one of Australia's most prominent classic cars and was the flagship car in the Mad Max film series from the late 1970s and the 1980s. Exactly 949 GT 351 Coupe versions rolled off the assembly lines between September and December of 1973, making the XB GT coupe exceedingly rare.
In Mad Max, the Main Force Patrol car pool mechanics introduce Max Rockatansky to the car. According to one of the mechanics, the Interceptor has a dual overhead cam engine, and thanks to the blower, makes 600 horsepower at the wheels.
In Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior, three years after the events of the first movie, Max is still using the V8 Interceptor as his primary vehicle. The back window has been taken out and large gas tanks and a spare tire are put there. The car gets totalled by Humungus’ gang, who smash the windshield in a high speed pursuit, causing Max to lose control and crash the Interceptor.
In 2015’s Fury Road, we see it one more time, in the opening scene, for exactly 1:24 seconds before the War Boys hit it with a thunderstick and finish it off.

Another success. Very realistic to how I remember the car, when the stars of the movie were Max, The Car, and the Apprentice Dingo Boy. Excellent job with the detailing, would look right at home in the wasteland.
There were lots of online pics to use as guides, so I hope I got close! 🍁☕️👍
Always a pleasure watching Andrew with another epic video and build!!!!! Thanks for sharing!! MAD MAX with us great movie!!
Thanks, Eddie. Great memories for lots of us, from back in the day. 🍁☕🎥👍
Nice build, details and paint job 👌 👍
"Remember The Night Rider!"
Yes, indeed! 🍁☕👍
Very cool replica of the mad max interceptor.
I remember watching the original movie many times on rental vhs and bata tape with my buddies huddled around a 21”CRT TV trying to catch little things we had missed before. Thous were good times ✌️👍
The films take me back too. Great memories with a very young Mel Gibson! I always thought the cars were the stars. Still do, in the remakes. 🍁☕🇨🇦👍
We started watching your channel because of the great Mad Max/Gaslands builds, so we are loving this.
We received the gasser today! The exhaust on the engine broke in transit, but it is in a safe spot now! The stickers immediately went onto the boys’ water bottles. And my wife gets the majority of the chocolate (it’s only right)
Andrew said he liked this one a lot, and as usual, Dominic says “give him a party cone!” 🎉
Great work as always. Looking forward to the next one!
Thanks, guys. I feared the worst for that long trip the 'Vette had to make. So sorry about the damage. I can send another resin printed engine for you to pop in, if you wish. Glad the chocolate got shared! Wishing you all a fine weekend. 🍁☕👍
Nicely done once again, Andrew. Looking forward, to upcoming builds......
Thanks, Uri. Working on the Hoonigan today. I appreciate your following. 🍁☕👍
Once again, you nailed it Andrew. Very well done sir. 🫵👍🇺🇸🇨🇦✌️
Thanks, Steve. I appreciate it. Glad you enjoyed the Interceptor build. 🍁☕👍
Well done Andrew! Really enjoying the Mad Max series. Soooo much work.
Lots of fun too. More to come, Geoff! 🍁☕️👍
Killer Gaslands style Falcon Andrew!
Thanks, Ron. Slowly working my way through the film cars, one at a time... 🍁☕🎥👍
Great job Andrew! Cool addition to your diorama. I love your attention to detail 👍🏽😎
Thanks, Armando. Plans are in place for a new, much larger diorama to house all of these Fury Road cars. 🍁☕️👍
Wow!! This is beyond amazing!!! I’m always amazed at your work. This is truly incredible.
Thanks, Leo! You're always there with a supportive comment! 🍁☕👍
Fantastic build on this one. You captured the look just right ☕
Thanks, Aaron. There are lots of pic online to use as guides, so that helps. 🍁☕👍
Awesome build on your Mad Max. Your attention to detail is spot on as always. Stay safe Andrew, your fan in Anchorage Alaska.🇺🇸👍👍👏👏👏👏🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆👊🤝
Thanks so much, George. Wishing you a fine weekend! 🍁☕👍
Amazing job. The attention detail and the amount of research you clearly did really shows.
Thank you very much. Got some more Fury Road stuff coming soon. 🍁☕️👍
Excellent job on this very popular movie car Andrew!
Thanks, Pete. Great memories from some enduring B movies! 🍁☕👍
So good! I love your mad max series 👍
Thanks, Ben. It's fun to add a new one now and then. It'll take a while to do the whole inventory! Working on plans now for scorched earth diorama #3 to house the growing collection. 🍁☕👍
Andrew your resin printer work is fantastic. Creating the files for the printer is a whole other talent to master. Good on you
Thanks. 3D printing is a great skill for this hobby. Glad you appreciate what goes into it. 🍁☕️👍
@@MapleLeafCustoms I have been dabbling in fusion 360. I have a filament printer. Not able to do those small prints for this scale. But your prints all look amazing. Keep it up.
Just watched Furiosa yesterday and it made me think of this classic piece driven by Max. Then I found ur video! Your modification is beyond perfect, great job!
Thank you for the fine feedback on the Interceptor. I haven't seen Furiosa yet, but will definitely be going! 🍁☕️👍
Wow , that's a great project my friend and the final result is absolutly fantastic . Thank you so much for sharing and have a good time !🎩👌🏻🤝🏻👍🏻🏅🏆👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thank you! I'm glad you liked it. Enjoy the weekend. 🍁☕️👍
I really enjoyed this build! I love movie cars and seeing them in scale whether factory released or customs. I really liked the brief background you gave on the Ford Falcon since I do not know a lot about Australian cars.
The Falcon is a biggie in Australia. There a really strong car culture down under. 🍁☕👍
Another nice addition to your wasteland collection 🙂
I keep outgrowing my dioramas. Got plans drawn up for a table top size one next, to house all the Fury Road vehicles. 🍁☕👍
Another beautiful work of art.
Thanks so much! Working my way through the cars in the film series. Gonna take some time...! 🍁☕😂
Absolute magic build Andrew Cheers KC 🇦🇺🤝🇨🇦😎👍✌
A favourite with the Aussies! Great to see you in the comments again, KC. How are you? 🍁☕️👊

Nice work on the Mad Max Falcon, looks great Andrew!
Thanks a lot! Lots of fans of the movies out there. 🍁☕️👍
Excellent job mate. Should have printed off Max and the dog for a giggle.
Josh and Jayden are very deserving of a shout out. Great channel 👍👌 13:29
Thanks, BK. I think I put a clip of dog in there somewhere. J&J are top guys, deserving of a shout out. 🍁☕👍
NAILED IT!!!👊🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Thanks, Charles! 🍁☕👍
This is outrageously good, Andrew. All of Hollywood would be proud of this reproduction. I hope @FexDeth sees this one…..he would say it is “cool as”. Good on ya, mate
Thanks, David. It's the most simple of them all so far, but probably subject to the most scrutiny too! 🍁☕️😂
Very interesting transformation on the falcon, lots of great detailing work excellent
Thank you very much, Martin. One more for my Fury Road series. 🍁☕️👍
it looks great
Thanks! Glad you liked the Interceptor build! 🍁☕👍
I had couple of xb 4 doors many years ago. Great cars
I've read such. Very popular in Australia. Must be fun to see them in the films. 🍁☕️👍
@@MapleLeafCustoms I wish I still had them lol
This came out great Andrew. I have been a big fan of the mad max films since the 80's. This is an excellent recreation of the intercepter. I look forward to your next build. Keep'em coming 👍
Thanks very much. The Interceptor was the simplest one from the film series I've done so far. Glad you liked it. 🍁☕👍
Great looking transformation!!
Thanks so much! Have a great day! 🍁☕👍
Exceptional build. Absolutely nailed it. Great work as always. Thanks for sharing
Thanks very much, Jody. Having watched yours as well, I can see there are many great renditions out there. 🍁☕✌
That came out fantastic!
Thanks, Kevin! 🍁☕👍
Love it when you break out the Mad Max builds! Great as always!
Thanks, Mark. There are many more to come. I space them out, to keep them special. 🍁☕️👍
Fantastic job on this build, as always I enjoy and appreciate the videos you do
Thanks, Edward! And I appreciate all your support. 🍁☕👍
The car looks great. You builds are always cool please keep going with them
Thanks, will do! Lots more to come. 🍁☕️👍
I love that style! Fantastic job Andrew! I love it! Have a GREAT day!
Thanks, Mark! It's a popular car from a great film series. Enjoy the weekend! 🍁☕️👍
Very nice work!
Looks really accurate, and reminds me of the mad max video game
Glad you think so! I tried to be as accurate as I could. 🍁☕️👊
Great job Andrew 👍🏻
Thanks, Mark! 🍁☕️👊
@@MapleLeafCustoms you're welcome 😊
A wonderful addition to that outrageous diorama...just a little movie car lol I love what you did here Andrew...but then what else is new? lol It turned out fantastic!
Thanks, Jim. I'll have to do a new, enlarged scorched earth diorama to fit the growing collection! Table top sized! 🍁☕️👍
@@MapleLeafCustoms I almost hate to even mention this Andrew, but it would be so incredibly cool if you could somehow work a small railroad track, somehow/somewhat hidden in the diorama, and mount smaller cars on flatcars that would run them across the diorama. With what you've built, I see this incredible animated display...but also a tremendous amount of work if it could even be done. Sometimes my ideas get a little too far out there lol
@@JimSilva-SilvaDiecastCustoms all things are possible, and the mega-diorama is still in the pencil sketch stage, so we'll see. It would be a big addition to what I had in mind...
Love it. Great work as usual, sir.
Thank you kindly! Wishing you a fine weekend. 🍁☕️👊
That's an awesome job, one of my favorites! Have a great one Andrew!😍❤👌
Thanks! We're all familiar with this one! Glad you liked it. 🍁☕️👊
Another great build is always there Andrew you nailed that you made it look just like the interceptor we're just sitting beside all the rest of the Fury Road cars that looks good buddy keep up the good work say hi to the beautiful wife for us have a good one and God bless❤
Thanks, JC. Gonna take me a while to work my way through all the cars, but each one has been a fun project. 🍁☕👍
Love it😮
Thanks so much, Harry. 🍁☕👍
Very cool! Beautiful weathering adds life to the model. Take care and stay safe both of you🙋🏻♂️😎
Thanks, Asko! Have a great weekend. 🍁☕️👍
Nice to see your wee return to the badlands!
Yes, it gets revisited now and then! Lots more Fury Road vehicles to come. ☕️🍁👍
An excellent replica, some amazing work went into this one, especially hand painting the rust. It looks great along side the other Mad Max builds, oh but to be one of those Mad Max fanatics technically he stole the Interceptor for his revenge quest, ha ha ha.
Thanks, John. It's been fun to poke away at the movie series cars, one by one. I'll keep at it. 🍁☕️👍
Great job!!
Thanks for watching and for the kind words too! 🍁☕️👍
Just wanted to say hello I can’t Wait to watch the video I and see how it came out
Hi, Aidan. Great to see you in the comments again. Hope you like the Interceptor build. I had fun with it. 🍁☕️👋
you always make these look so easy. amazing replica of that wickied iconic car.
Thanks, Neil. The purists are gonna find some things I overlooked, I'm sure. 🍁☕👍😂
@MapleLeafCustoms screw them. are there actual ppl that have commented on your vids complaining from their mommies basement
Nice work, Andrew.....looks just the ticket 👌🏻🇨🇦👍🏻🇬🇧👏🏻🇨🇭
Good to be there on time for once; work cancelled for last night and today. Gruel and water next month!

Kick ‘er in the guts, Barry! The Night Rider… think of ‘im when you look at the night sky. Don’t write off the Goose until you see the casket lowerin’ into the ground. Two days ago, I saw a rig that could haul that tanker… You wanna get outta here, talk to me. The Iatolla of Rock n’ Rolla! Touch those tanks and (boom) - boobytrapped. We’re partners, you and me! Just walk away. I don’t know who was more insane - them or me. Here they come again, (voices) worming away at the inside of my brain. Out here, everything hurts. Do not, my friends, become addicted to water, for you will regret its absence. It’s all here: 3,000 gallons of guzzoline, just as you asked. I’ll unhitch the pod. You drop the rock. You’re an old man’s battle fodder! Flamers, polecats, and there he is, the People Eater himself… coming to count the cost. Nuh-uh. You know what that is? It’s bait. It’ll be a hard day. Max. My name is Max.
Sorry, what was I saying? I don’t live in my mother’s basement, but some small part of me does, as this movie franchise takes up a lot of my brain.
Ironically, the black-on-black last of the V8s is the simplest custom in comparison to your other triumphant Fury Road builds, but maybe the one with the most pressure, I imagine. But Andrew, you nailed it. From the nose to the “junk in the trunk” (LOL, by the way), you captured all the details short of Max’s dog bed. (Did you know they named it “Dog” in the credits? Max Rockatansky wasn’t very original.)
If you still have all your builds, I bet you could sell a poster of them in a wasteland diorama. Just sayin’… I’d buy one.
Keep on keepin’ on, kuh-chunka, kuh-chunka, refinin’ all day and night. 💀👊🏼👍👍👍👍👍🤙🏽🤓
Hi Tom and Jackson! Those quotes and more and firmly embedded in the minds of many of us who are fans of the series. I was a teen when they came out and had just started wrenching on my first car - a '73 Capri. It wasn't until I started researching the Interceptor (only pics at first) that I discovered what a rabbit hole it was. The super fans have certainly chronicled everything for us. The dog bed and a tire stuffed with rags were given consideration... And I think you're right - the Interceptor was by far the simples one I've done to date, but the purists are going to have a hey day dissecting it! BTW, plans have been drawn up for my third scorched earth diorama (the cars have already outgrown the first two) to house the ever expanding Fury Road fleet. It'll be table top size. Never a dull moment. 🍁☕👍😂
way cool bro my fav to date bro id shared loved liked !
Thanks, Robin! 🍁☕👍
Nice one!
Thanks, Yannick! 🍁☕🇨🇦👍
Awesome build Andrew. I remember seeing Mad Max with my friends when it was first released. It totally blew me away. I'm surprised I missed this video when it came out 3 months ago. That was a busy time for me though.
Thanks, Timo. I'm working my way through lots of the film vehicles. This one was pretty iconic, making appearances in several of the retreats. More to come! ☕️🍁😀
Amazing car! Just discovered your channel and I'm absolutely loving the Fury Road vehicles you've made! Now I just have to locate that bumper so I can make my own Interceptor... Big thumbs up, sir!
I'm glad you found me here. Most all of the .stl files I use come from Thingiverse, for free. If you can't locate the Interceptor parts, send me an email and I'll happily share what I have. Merry Christmas! 🍁☕️👍🎄
@@MapleLeafCustoms I will, thank you! I did a little looking around and thought that the '85 IROC Camaro front end is fairly close to the Monza front end used for the original Interceptor. Ordered a couple camaros and we'll see if I can make it work! Lovin' the channel! Keep up the great work!
Looks good
Thanks for watching! 🍁☕️👍

@@MapleLeafCustoms very true. Loved the cool gas-land cars you have made. The dual stacked caddy was awesome. 👾
@@CrazyCat229 The Gigahorse! I've got a GigaBenz on the calendar for 2024! 😂
awesome. :) looks just the right amount of details. :)
the various incarnations and details seem to be a science like egyptology. XD many years ago Aoshima (I think) made amodel kit of the interceptor in 1:24, and a modelers magazine made a review. and the author needed almost two pages to point out where to modify the kit to make it either this or the other movie version, or the third one (that was way before Fury Road was even planned). looks like the kit is soemwhere inbetween...
Once I got into researching this one, I found it to be a real deep rabbit hole. I settled on a Mad Max 2: Road Warrior version with the junk in the trunk. There are websites entirely dedicated to the most minute details and changes to the Interceptor. Egyptology should be so detailed!! 🍁☕👍😂
@@MapleLeafCustoms it one day might as well, maybe they'll find another column translating stuff to ancient greek or latin. :)
